The place is a little older but it is kept up. Bathroom was kind of small. TV had issues so I used the WIFI. Has small continental breakfast. Place was clean and quite. There is parking a plus in SF. Its close so you can walk to Fisherman's Wharf and to Russian Hill.

The staff was so rude. But, I like the hotel. The room was spacious and the location was very nice. It is near North Beach and Lombard Street (within walking distance). Also it was a nice walk to the Golden Bridge, we get to pass through other nice parks. I highly recommend it!

Regrettably I prepaid for the hotel. It is the first time I have had to buy an air freshener for a hotel room - it stank! In the 2 days I stayed there, I was unable to open the door - my husband could after 4 or 5 tries! Very noisy - make sure you take ear plugs. The only...

The location of this hotel was great! everything was walking distance like the Wharf, Lombard st, Fullhouse house, Pier 39 and all the cruises. But the hotel itself was loud, awful customer service, continental breakfast was bad, check in and check out was long. The room could use some updating!, and it was a little dirty. The fridge, alarm clock...

No charge for parking, affordable rooms & great location make up for a relatively noisy location. If you get a room as a place to put your bags and sleep and don't need fancy, this is your place. Within walking distance to several of my favorite spots in town.

Best affordable place to stay in the area. Really enjoyed my stay. Was a little concerned based on some of reviews I read. I enjoyed the room which was spacious and had everything I needed to have a pleasant experience. The neighborhood felt safe ad Fisherman's Wharf was walking distance. I also enjoyed that public transportation was easily accessible. Would...

Although is like the only hotel that is not on Lombard St, they are well located, but none of the tours will pick you up there so this has to be considered. I stayed for one night only and even though the outside looked kind of dirty, the rooms were Ok. I'm giving them 4 circles because I lost a...

We booked the van ness inn the same day we arrived. It was one of the only places within our budget and location that we could find that last minute. After booking, I jumped on TripAdvisor to read some reviews and was scared to arrive at this hotel, however I was surprised when we arrived. Check was good, we were...

Staying in Russian Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
Russian Hill
Russian Hill has evolved into a chic residential neighborhood with outstanding views from every corner. Combined with several great cafes, restaurants, antique shops and boutiques, it’s easy to see why any visitor would gladly leave their heart in San Francisco. Cars line up day after day to drive down Lombard Street, the “crookedest” street in the world, and make the slow creep downhill past charming period homes. Polk Street is the main drag in this neighborhood, where you will find trendy bars, cafes and shops populated with locals, but for one of the most charming rides in the city, grab a cable car heading up and down Hyde Street.
