Located in the heart of San Francisco's Fisherman's Wharf, Argonaut Hotel exudes the true essence of a boutique hotel. With a name like the Argonaut, it's impossible not to speak of this hotel in grand, almost legendary terms. Inspired by the Greek legend and Gold Rush-era adventurers, it's one of those rare places in San Francisco that truly merits a term like iconic. Located in the historic Haslett Warehouse, the Argonaut's home is a grand building built in 1907 of exposed brick, Douglas Fir beams and so much seaside character; you feel as though you can almost reach out and touch the colorful Barbary Coast past here.

The Argonaut Hotel garners acclaim for its spotless rooms and nautical charm, creating a cozy and unique atmosphere that many travelers find delightful. While some guests consider the hotel to offer reasonable value, others caution about unexpected charges. The service is generally celebrated for its warmth and efficiency, though a few guests encountered inconsistencies. Its location near Fisherman's Wharf is a highlight, providing convenience and access to local sights. Room opinions are varied, with some dissatisfaction over size and fees, but the Blue Mermaid restaurant's quality is a consistent hit with visitors.

We had our company conference to reward the top sales performers. We stayed there three nights and we had 80 attendees. The event planning was excellent. Management gave us all the support and made our event a success. Food was great. Breakfast menu was excellent. Irfan who was the head of F&B gave us high quality service. His staff was amazing too. We are going to be back at this hotel in April 2025.

We booked one night (Valentine's Day) and loved the suite so much we decided to spend a second night. The views were amazing. As a result of booking a second night the room price was significantly reduced making it an even better value. We will definitely stay again in the near future.

I was on the hunt for the perfect hotel in the fisherman’s area, and this one emerged as the clear winner. Since it's my wife's first visit to San Francisco all the way from Germany, I wanted to ensure it was unforgettable for her. Despite stretching our budget a bit, the location is unbeatable, nestled right in the heart of the wharf, providing a sense of security compared to options in the union square area. Stephanie at the front desk was exceptionally warm and hospitable, assigning us a room with a nice view. She even exceeded our expectations by surprising us with a thoughtful letter and a bottle of wine! Although our stay was brief, we truly appreciated the genuine hospitality extended to us.

We walked into the hotel & it was beautiful, clean & with a impressive nautical theme! Tenzin was very friendly, professional & helpful when checking us in. The staff was very friendly & nice. We enjoyed the view of the old Del Monte factory courtyard. Next time, we would like the ocean view. The nautical theme in the room was wonderful! The beds were comfy! Wendy did a great job cleaning up our room each day, which we did not plan on being cleaned each day! Javier, our friendly waiter in their Blue Mermaid restaurant, was very efficient. Our breakfast was tasty & filling to start our day of adventure! We will definitely stay again! Thank you for a memorable stay!

I feel like I found an undiscovered gem! Will always come back here when in San Fran. Perfect location that allows you to see the Golden Gate bridge, cable car turnaround, near Ghirardelli, etc. And the rooms are larger than I expected. A lot of space to spread out. From the moment you walk into the lobby, you can tell you aren't in a cookie cutter hotel like a Marriott or Hilton. Shortly after we checked in, we decided to cancel our plans to go down to Monterey as we wanted to stay here longer -- it's that awesome. The exposed brick in the rooms just adds to the charm. And the staff was so amazing and accommodating. I've been telling all my friends and family: If you ever are going to San Fran, stay here. One note: they charge a fortune for parking ($65+) but with a little creativity, you can find parking nearby without much hassle...there's a free four hour lot just to the west of the hotel and street parking options for free overnight (just pay attention to street cleaning days so you don't get ticketed)...but you can have a car and avoid paying to park at the hotel. You'll love it...so fun.

We had a wonderful stay at the Argonaut last week. Very lovely hotel with a nice location in the fisherman’s wharf, very close by to all the activities and sights we planned attending. A very nice young lady Stephanie was very welcoming and recommended us dinner options, we enjoyed Scomas in particular, good seafood and very close distance. Stephanie even recommended us some places to visit for our Hawaii trip. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. Warm and friendly hospitality in a great location.

We visited here in the middle of August '23 for our honeymoon and had the most amazing time! On arrival we were greeted by the friendliest check in staff and bellboys, who explained everything we needed to know to get the most of our stay in San Francisco. When explaining it was our honeymoon, we were given huge congratulations and on arrival to our room, there was a knock on the door and we were given a card and complimentary bottle of wine to celebrate. The room was huge and well appointed. It was so clean and quite simply the most comfortable bed we've ever slept in. The hotel is situated in a great spot in Fisherman's Wharf. Right on the edge of it, so quieter than near the hustle and bustle, but close enough to experience if all. The tram turnaround/stop is directly next to the hotel, which takes you to Union square, with stops along the way for the sights such as Lombard street. The Maritime historical park and Ghirardelli Square are also right outside. A small beach and Fort Mason- with an amazing view of the bridge- are within a 5 minute walk. The palace of fine arts within 30-40 minute walk away. We walked absolutely miles and it was by far the best way to see the city, along with the front bar on the tram! In short, we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again- we certainly left a little bit of our hearts in San Fran, and we'll definitely be back one day. Thank you all at the Argonaut x

OK but not awesome. The hotel has impressive marketing photos but for us the marketing was not the reality. Set in a grand building, in a good location for access to Fishermans wharf, this borderline themed hotel is lacking in many areas. We arrived early and despite enquiring about an early check in and receiving a reply we were disappointed to learn on the day that it cost an additional $75, this could have been communicated prior to our arrival. We found the reception staff unwelcoming and quite curt. Whilst any hotel guest expects professionalism, this wasn't that,it just came across as frosty. The room we were first allocated was a complete no no for us. whilst the exterior appears to have views of the surrounding area at least half the rooms literally face into the window of the opposite bedroom, it was like a prison with plantation shutters. When we complained and asked to be moved we were told that's the room we booked. we showed the marketing photos from Booking.com to show what we were expecting. the receptionist said she had never seen the photos before and wasn't sure where they were from. surely the hotel should show due diligence and check what marketing material is out there on the various booking platforms they choose to advertise on so the customer can make an informed decision? we were upgraded to a courtyard room. we aren't entirely sure what the hotels definition of courtyard is but it's not the same as ours. We did not travel from Australia for a view into another guests room nor a view of the garbage. The new room, whilst pleasant, had downfalls. The desk could not be used for its actual purpose as it housed the coffee station, a huge lamp, marketing material etc but there was no other table or desk in the room for my husband to work. We had 2 queen beds but there wasn't a nightstand on each side of the bed(s), the bathroom for such a huge room was tiny with the towels stored within the shower area. There was such a huge entrance to the room and that could have been better purposed to house either another table or a closet for towels. The only guest lounge for the hotel is actually in the lobby and the only day we chose to relax there there was a huge conference meet up. The noise they created was deafening. When I asked if there was another lounge I was told the only other place to relax would be our room. The bar is pleasant enough but the selection is small. All in all the hotel was OK but given the rates charged was not what we would have expected.

Hi Sam, Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback, and I appreciate knowing you had an overall enjoyable stay with us though I wish we did better to impress. Setting and exceeding expectations is extremely important to me, I will be sure to triple check all photos that Booking.com has posted with each of our room types. Our interior/courtyard rooms that do lack an exterior view, make up for it by being completed isolated from the outside sounds making for a perfect nights rest for those that sleep on the lighter side. Our Bayview rooms offer stunning views of either Alcatraz or the Golden Gate Bridge but do come at a premium based on demand and we clearly label each room category with its corresponding view. Our team should have been better to direct you to our business center if the lobby was not as relaxing as you would have hoped for, and i will be sure to address this with our team. Thanks again, and I do hope your travels spent Stateside were memorable. Tony Roumph Managing Director
