On a recent trip to San Francisco, we chose to stay at the HI hostel in the city center not only for the great price, but also for the central location, and I'm glad we stayed there! The hostel is closely located to all forms of public transportation, the staff is very knowledgeable and helpful, and the rooms are clean,...

Katy!! What a spectacular review! I think you touched on all the charming elements of our dear hostel, so let me just say thank you for staying. It's our great guests that really make our hostel stand out as super cool. I love when you guys love us and our spot, and it makes me happy to know that all...

I just write to warn everyone about this hl. Please for your own sake keep looking. In my own experience: Terrifying area: There are plenty of yonkees and homeless in the area. We were so afraid we got a taxi to get back at night after a visit to Alcatraz. Taxi driver told us to thank god for not getting...

Hi there, I’m sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your stay with us. It’s true that our neighborhood does have a lot of poverty, but it has a lot of good people, vibrant street art and great bars. I understand that you are disappointed with the lack of TV in your room. However, we chose not to have TVs...

I Was terrified to be staying in a hostel, I've never stayed in on and you hear all these horror stories but this hostel was actually okay, there were four of us to a room in bunk beds with the most comfortable mattress I've ever slept on, the bathrooms were tiny you could barely move and they could have been...

The hostel is a great place to stay. Very clean, room size is correct and they offer pretty good breakfast. The common areas and the kitchen are very spacious. I am a solo traveler and it's a pretty big hostel so it was a little hard to get to socialize with the other travelers. But in the end i got...

Thank you for staying with us and for taking the time to leave us a great review! I'm glad to hear our hostel fit your needs, and that you had a comfortable and fun time while you were here. I know the neighborhood can be startling and intimidating, especially to a solo traveler or someone new to San Francisco. The...

The hostel was great. Very clean and homely (surprising for such a big place) and breakfast every morning was awesome. however it is smack bang in the middle of a very dodgy area and to get anywhere you have to walk 15minutes through drunk homeless people. i wouldnt suggest staying here based on the location alone.

I had a group of 15 at the hostel. Two of us stayed in a private room, the beds were extremely comfortable. The kids all really enjoyed the bathrooms attached to each room and also said the rooms were clean! The 5Ghz internet was fast. A couple of negatives; fruit and their pancake/egg breakfast wasn't always available. The 2.4 GHz...

Loved the inside of the hostel. Was clean, cute and the staff was friendly. The only problem is that it is in the "Tenderloin" district- which is the most dangerous area of all of San Francisco. We were not aware of this before our stay, so that was a huge surprise. Right outside the hostel the area has a huge...

Thank you for staying with us and for taking the time to leave a nice review! We are located in the tenderloin district, a neighborhood that has always been infamous for the social services it provides to those in need, as well as for it's amazing ethnic food and vibrant arts and music scenes. I trust the hostel itself was...

English/Español As you grow older you may tend to avoid Youth Hostels, rather stretch the budget, and even more if its nearby the Tenderloin in SanFCO. But I actually had a very comfortable stay, in a private room with little to envy a chain 3 stars hotel. Everything is austere as in most Youth Hostels but the staff makes an...

Thank you for your lovely and thorough review! We love having fun, brave, and adaptable guests like you to stay, as you guys really make our hostel the vibrant and cozy place it is. I also really appreciate your pragmatic view of our neighborhood, there are great highlights even among some harsh realities. Do come back and visit us again...

Firstly this is a really cool, comfortable, functional hostel. We stayed in a private room on the sixth floor with our own ensuite and as seems to be the case with private rooms at hostels there was no TV. Which was ok by us. The sad part is, it is in a very dodgy part of town. Even on the...

I have stayed here twice, once with my wife and young son and once solo. Both times have been an exceptional stay. Much like many HI's this one is family friendly. In fact, we had parcels sent here before we arrived and they stored them for us. The parcel was our 'travel crib' which we purchased online!! This HI had...
