We got a great last minute deal on the newly renovated Galleria Park. Location was ideally central for Chinatown, Union Square, and the Ferry. Everything was spotless and tasteful, and the staff was exceptionally accomodating, especially the valet. The third floor garden and walking path is a nice refuge, and the morning mezzanine coffee and afternoon lobby wine tasting is...

I traveled to San Francisco for continuing education and took my husband and 19 month-old with me. The hotel was very comfortable and accomodating. The location was perfect - close enough for me to walk to my class but also for my family to go exploring the city from a safe location. Easy, short walk to Market Street, Union Square,...

I stayed at this hotel with my daughter. You can't beat the location. Lobby is quaint and staff very helpful. We enjoyed a lovely happy hour daily. Bead was comfortable and room quite nice. We only found the bathroom a little tight.

This hotel is in a great neighborhood, and a great location with close proximity to the rail system, shopping, dining, and nightlife. We easily walked back to the hotel after a game at the ballpark. The hotel itself is so nice: quirky, boutique style in a 100+ year old building. Loved the staff, the room, the bathroom has become our...

Stayed here two nights and loved it. Friendly staff, nice, clean well equipped rooms. Comfortable hotel. Easy to grab a cab to any attraction, walking distance to china town. We had an inside room so slept quietly. Had room service as I was unwell on second night and it was good value for a hotel. Didn't have breakfast so can't...

This hotel is in a great spot just a short walk from Union Square. The rooms are slightly small, mostly because of the age of the building, but the place has great character and they have sympathetically used the space to very good effect. We had a couple of teething issues which were resolved by the staff who are very...

Our group was made up of 3 adults and 2 children, and the service we received by the staff was exceptional. Everyone graciously accommodated our every need...young and old. The location was perfect for us to visit Union Square, Chinatown, and do serious shopping on Market Street. If we return to San Francisco, this is where we will stay.

Good hotel with a great location near Union Square. You are in walking distance to many things including the trolley system, Chinatown, and Union Square. Great spot to explore the city. Rooms were lovely and decent size. Front desk was courteous and capable. Good bath products. I would recommend this hotel.

This was our first time to San Francisco, and was very last minute, so we used a travel agent who suggested the Galleria Park Hotel. The location is fantastic for being centrally located and a short walking distance from Union Square, Fisherman's Wharf, China Town, and much more. The hotel staff was phenomenal. The front desk staff were helpful and...

Staying in Financial District

Neighbourhood Profile
Financial District
The Financial District lies just east of Chinatown but can seem a world apart given it’s San Francisco’s version of Wall Street. The rush of business people make up a hectic weekday and add to a frenetic pace of life, but visitors who spend a few hours walking the narrow streets will be rewarded with fine examples of historic and contemporary architecture, including the iconic Transamerica Pyramid. After business hours, bars and restaurants quickly fill up with happy hour revelers. Stocks aren’t the only kind of market being followed, the Ferry Building Marketplace on the Embarcadero is a gourmet food emporium and farmers market that will satisfy anyone working up an appetite.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Conveniently located in the heart of San Francisco, Galleria Park gives you easy access to everything the Bay Area has to offer to its visitors. The hotel is located with easy access to the Bay Area's central transit systems of BART, MUNI and the fabled cable cars. Within blocks are Union Square, Chinatown, the Financial District, Moscone Convention Center, and several world-class museums. The hotel is just steps away from world-class shopping destinations in Union Square--an area that is definitely a tribute to the power of shopping. Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Barneys New York, Gump's and a very substantial Macy's are right on the Union Square. The venerable Bullock and Jones and Tiffany and Co. are within walking distance, as is the nine-story Westfield San Francisco Shopping Centre with its three-level Nordstrom and Bloomingdale's. It is also a center for exclusive couture and high fashion, with boutiques dedicated to Betsey Johnson, Kate Spade, Herve Leger, Karen Miller, and Michael Kors. Post Street, which is a block away from Galleria Park is where the high-end stores are located including Ralph Lauren, Ferragamo, Juicy Couture, Tory Burch, Ferrari and Porsche clothing stores. ... more   less
