Travelers are drawn to BEI San Francisco for its prime location near city attractions, although some guests have called out the hotel for its room cleanliness, noting stained carpets and a shortage of amenities that don't match the online depiction. While the staff's friendliness often receives commendations, the service can be hit or miss, with complaints about slow responses. Despite the hotel's modern appearance, the atmosphere is frequently described as lackluster and the value questioned due to steep parking fees and unmet expectations regarding resort amenities.

This hotel was absolutely fantastic! This was our first time staying in SF and it was really made whole by our hotel selection. From the minute we stepped in, we were welcomed and felt right at home. It has a very dark and comforting atmosphere in the lobby. One of the highlights of our stay was the front desk receptionist, Steve. Steve was amazing, he gave us a sweet deal on the parking and even upgraded our room so that we would have a fridge; not only that, but we moved up 4 floors and got a nicer view!! Steve was so accommodating to us and quite honestly I don’t think the trip would’ve been the same had he not been there. We got to use the baggage dolly to take our stuff up to the room which felt very movie-like and fulfilled the fantasy. Our room was insanely clean and spacious and the beds were very comfortable! During our stay, we got serviced very quickly. Every time we asked for towels, soap, anything we needed, the staff was on top of it. The house keeping literally revived our room from the dead after a long night out. Some other amazing perks was that there’s a bar that was open while we were there which was amazing. Erica was our bartender and she was a lot of fun to get to know! Theres a little breakfast shop in the hotel thats open in the mornings and there’s also a terrace where you can go outside enjoy some fresh air. They also have a CVS vending machine with random products that anyone might need!! The actual hotel location was also very convenient because we drove all over the bay doing touristy stuff but we also had the option to walk to many local events and scenes. Overall, our stay here was outstanding and we would love to come back!

I found this hotel by accident when I need to wash my clothes on a long trip. The style from the first floor made me want to stay here. On my first night in the BEI I was amazed. The bed and room is everything you ask for in a place away from home. It has the space you are lacking in any hotel in the local area for an affordable price. The vibe of the hotel makes you feel like you are in a stylish home rather than a hotel. I have stayed at the Fairmont on Nob Hill and feel more comfortable at the BEI. This is my second home in San Francisco. Thank you BEI.

Although the room was minimal with the things that where in the room, I still found the room to be clean, smelled good, it was in a perfect location for the purpose of my visit in the city, and the staff were all very attentive the needs of myself and my wife. Straight away upon my arrival there was some issues with the amount of time I had registered the room for. Ana, our front desk concierge, took care of the problem right away. In booking hotels I have come to realize that issues happen via the computer, so going forward it always helps to call the hotel you're registering in to double confirm your booking. Anyway, as I mentioned before, the hotel was in a perfect location for my reason for visiting San Francisco, and it was perfectly located for strolling around to see and discover other places. Sure there were lots of displaced individuals about the streets, but never did I feel unsafe for myself or my wife. I have worked with homeless folks before so it is easy for me to see those folks for who they are. Displaced and going through rough times. Walking around the general vicinity of the hotel I was very pleased with finding them many different types of eateries. Even though my visit to San Francisco was mostly about the play I was there to attend, I found the BEI Hotel of great quality for the price that I paid. I would definitely stay at the BEI hotel again. In fact, I am currently looking for another event to attend just to get back into the City and enjoy all that San Francisco has to offer. Thanks again BEI staffing for a comfortable stay, and thank you Ana for your hospitality.

For our 26th anniversary we went to San Francisco and stayed at this beautiful hotel. We’d missed celebrating our 25th due to Covid so we were so excited to be feeling better and go enjoy our 2nd chapter of life.

Yolanda at the front desk checked us in and was so wonderful. She gave us a room with a city view and higher floor for our anniversary which was so kind. She was always just so helpful and a truly caring staff member. Not just treating it like a job but caring about you as an individual and ensuring you have a great time which we so much appreciated. Jim (or Gem? I’m sorry I forgot his name ) the concierge was also so helpful and kind, always asking how we were enjoying our trip and telling us best ways around the city.

We highly recommend this hotel. The gym is great and the terrace is so beautiful to go outside and just relax, especially at night. Plenty of room in the hotel lobby and bar area to stretch out and have privacy. It would be fun to play games with the family there.

Every detail in the rooms and throughout the hotel are definitely setup to help you enjoy your trip. Including robes and slippers in your room, wonderful soaps and moisturizers, purified water stations (hot and cold water) by the ice makers, motion lights in your bathroom, and safe access to your room as no one can come up the elevator without the key card. The only thing I wish it had was a microwave in our room but we just went down to the lobby if I needed to heat something up.

This was a fabulous stay and the best hotel and staff we’ve stayed at so far during our travels.

Be sure to wait till after 1 pm to see the Golden Gate Bridge ir go in September or October. Check out the academy of science and botanical gardens too! Parking is $30 at that park so Uber or taxi or bus over and spend the day there.

Booking directly with the hotel yielded the best and most transparent price, b/c of SF tax and the hotel industry's amenities add-ons. The hotel is just off Market Street with many public transportation choices so you can get around the city very easily and conveniently or back to the airport with the Clipper Card and Google Maps. But the location comes with only a few sit down restaurants within walking distance. And you do have to navigate some homeless, as in any city.
I found Rocco's Cafe blocks away on Folsom to be a welcoming, reasonably priced and delicious, and there is a Thai place I did not experience near there on Folsom as well. There is good security presence and room key card access to the elevators after hours so I felt safe. The room I had was clean, the bath with shower and tub, the king bed was comfortable for two adults, smart tv, internet, in-room safe, attentive cleaning staff, hot and cold filtered water available in the hall, coffee machine in the room, though Peet's and Starbucks are within walking distance. If you arrive early, you will beat the inevitable line to check in, and they do provide secure bag storage until your room is made up. There is a bar off the lobby, but it is not a restaurant.

Room was extremely spare. No decor other than logo on carpet and on wall. No luggage racks and only one table. So no surfaces for luggage, which ended up on the floor. Bed was comfortable. Good shower, water pressure fine, good hot water. Heat in room did not work, but it wasn’t worth having the repair guy in the room working on it for 30 minutes at bedtime. Cold water came out of faucet in bathroom in a tiny trickle. Repair guy replaced faucet, then it worked. Some mildew in shower stall. Location very convenient to BART and sizable homeless population. Some lights turned themselves off after a time, which was a cool trick until I was suddenly plunged into darkness while taking a hot shower to warm up. Has the trappings of a swanky hotel without the attention to detail. At least I got a good price on Priceline.

We love this place because we can easily walk to the Civic Center, Bill Graham Auditorium, and down Market Street to the square. It also a short ride to the Chase Center or the Midway. The rooms are spacious, modern, and clean with great city view for a few more dollars. The staff is exceptional especially housekeeping, we tip them well, and Steven at the front desk always makes sure thing are perfect. The parking here can be included with your stay or $50 a night, which is very reasonable for SF. Highly recommend. Great value for the $$$.

We stayed for two night June/July. The best thing about this hotel was the distance to the Orpheum Theatre, where we saw Hadestown. The area around the hotel was kind of sketchy with lots of homeless people.
The hotel was recently renovated, but our room featured stained carpet, no dresser and no artwork, but exposed cables. There is no dining at the hotel and we only grabbed some bagels and a croissant one morning. The coffeemaker is a joke and was pretty much useless. One nice feature was a hot & cold water dispenser in the hallway, next to the ice machine.
The parking was supposed to be included, according to Expedia, but turned out to be $86.20 for two days. Neither the hotel nor Expedia would honor the original itinerary. Very Disappointing and Expensive overall. Can't recommend.

There are many things one could like about this property but it is severely lacking in services. Wyndham runs this property like a crappy Travellodge. The location is desirable as it is close to places that I want to be but the area around the hotel is impacted by homeless on the streets and a lot of trash. I realize this is not the fault of the hotel which does provide security but it diminishes that value of staying there. My biggest complaint is the lack of food and beverage service in what is rated as AAA 3 Diamond establishment. They provide NO breakfast at all, even though the webpage says they do, and the only food available is from the bar and that menu is very small. Food is only available Tuesday-Saturday from 4 to about 9 PM because they close the kitchen early. The carpet in my room had a nasty stain (looked like vomit) that was not cleaned up and replaced...big turn off there. The room had an adjoining door which meant I heard everything from the room next door. The thermostat said err on it most of the time I was there, I tried to adjust it a couple of times but it didn't do anything. The onsite employees are friendly and apologetic but management is terrible and should be replaced for their lack of providing adequate guest services.

The location of this hotel is convenient to events happening along Folsom Street and is just a short walk away. I would not recommend walking down Mission Street though with a family. Yes it's a little sketchy area but so is a lot of SF, homeless are all over. Also, the Burger King across the street was convenient and felt safe enough going there. In the room, beds are comfortable and everything was clean. A bit overpriced in my opinion, but we stayed here for the location.
