Staff were friendly and on-point - I was asked ahead of time if I wanted a street room or a more quiet inner room 👍🏻
Room was small, clean, and quiet at night.
Location is central SF - close to everything
"Resort/urban fee" was over 40% of published Hotel Tonight rate. When resort fees become reasonable and upfront, I will give higher value and overall ratings.

We arrived early to celebrate my birthday that day, but they still had our room ready and waiting. We enjoyed a generous bag of cabernet, water, chips, and granola, which we saved for our local relatives who came to visit us in the suite later that afternoon and evening. Hotel Abri also gave us a gift card to use at their restaurant downstairs, where we ordered fried chicken and mixed seafood during Happy Hour. There was a minor accident when I spilled something in the suite, but the front desk was quick to help us by replacing sheets and giving us new towels. In the morning we enjoyed fresh Starbucks with the coffee pot in our room, as I wore a comfy robe that was provided in the closet.

I booked through AirBnB and that was a mistake. AirBnB didn't tell me about the urban fees and I forgot to ask about parking. This is not the hotel's fault.
Check in was very pleasant. I spoke with Kevin who answered all my inane questions and gave us some very good suggestions for Dim Sum and other things to try in the area. We booked an ADA Queen room (I traveled with my 70 yo mother) and the room and bathroom was nice and spacious. One review did say there is no bathroom ventilation and that is true. My poor mother...
You can pay for valet parking ($65 a day) but be aware that valet closes at 11:00pm. I had to pick my mom up from the airport at 11:50 so I had to park a block and a half away at the public parking. I didn't think to ask about that until a few days before the trip. I live in a small town in Texas and forgot that urban parking is both scarce and expensive. But anyone who travels to major cities should know this and not dock hotel reviews for this issue. The hotel does offer packages with parking included and if you book through the hotel website, some even waive urban fees. Another thing I didn't know when I booked through AirBnB.
The "gift" was nice and the little bag came in handy for our bus tour the next day. The snacks and water came in handy since the glass bottles of water in the room cost $4 if you open them.
I like staying in kitschy hotels like this. I read the bad reviews because what people find to complain about makes me laugh. Most are written by people who obviously have stayed in large cities very often and don't understand parking, city fees, California (few people have central air), etc.
Our room was comfortable, clean, and functional. The staff was helpful and kind. They explained the fees, housekeeping, and attended to any additional needs we had.

Hotel Abri is conveniently located and offers small but comfortable rooms at a very reasonable price. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Bed was comfortable and room also had a full size desk. Welcome bag containing complimentary bottle of wine, water and a couple snacks was a nice touch.

d suggest looking at the multitude of other establishments located in the area. Hotel Abri tacks on an additional $40 Urban fee. Upon checking in I asked for a printout/list of what this fee was and covered. I was then lied to by the front desk personnel who told me that the fee was to cover a commission of 30% by Hotel Tonight, whom I booked through - and that if I went through the hotel it would have been waived.
I followed up with management post stay - regarding my experience to which they failed to rectify any level of satisfactory customer service. I was informed that the fee was actually to cover "Wifi and extra cleaning/sanitization for COVID."
Firstly, the hotel doesn't clean during your visit unless you request. Secondly, there were no greater precautions made for COVID to my eye - and thirdly, I find it quite PITIFUL that you would charge $40 to make sure your customers are safe. The wifi wasn't event fast enough to stream videos. I'd suggest taking some of the money you are gauging your customers with and upgrade.
The rooms were decent, nothing special and nothing to write home about. There are many better experiences to have elsewhere. Take it to the next hotel.

You just about can't do better than the Hotel Abri in San Francisco. The price was right, their staff are so helpful and friendly and the location near a transit hub (BART, Metro, AND Cable Car turnaround) is unbelievable. The only limitation is the lack of space in the rooms, which we were able to work around. The beds and pillows are very comfortable. The lobby is charming and elegant. And did I mention how great the staff are?
I would stay there again without question.

We only stayed here one night on our way to Napa. The location is good, meaning its centrally located in union square, so are there tons of centrally located walkable hotels in San Fran. It wasn't a good time to be there apparently. The hotel staff mentioned that when exiting the hotel that whatever you do, do not go to "that way". No fault of theirs and we appreciate them telling us that. I had not been to SF in 36 years and it wasn't how I remembered it. The streets had a lot of trash, the typical gardens everywhere were just not as showy, the trollys were not running (due to covid) yet the busses were? I really wanted to take the trolly. it was hazy (as usual) and really no reason to want to stay there at all. It just wan't the SF I remembered. I actually felt sad for the city. None of this is the hotels of course.
The hotel itself, is ok? There is no breakfast. No balcony. Some places we stayed on our 2 week trip through California had awful beds and some had beds so incredible, I want to buy one. Here, its neither/or. Its average. The service while mostly polite, gave us a room that wasn't consistent with our reservation. And acted like he was doing us a favor upgrading us to the room we actually booked-bedding type. One queen, not two doubles. We were on a romantic vacation-duh! Why would we want to sleep in two beds or two people cramped in one double bed and another one empty. The hotel was hardly booked and had just reopened a week before, so again this is where booking a travelzoo voucher gets you different treatment.
There is nothing particularly bad about Hotel Abri, but nothing exceptional either. But its a city hotel and generally whats expected at its star level. If you get a good deal on it and you are really just going to sleep there. It works for that. its very clean too.

My husband was staying in the city on business and the company booked this hotel. The room they gave me had 2 double beds (a king was booked) the bed linens were stained, drapes were dark and dingy and the mesh desk chair had a big hole in it. I asked for a new room and it was equally as disgusting. By this point (an hour) I was not going to stay. I started to apologize to the front desk person (named Prissier) and she stopped me to say, she looked at the room and it was fine. Prissier went on to say, she came from a housekeeping background and the room was perfectly clean. I stopped her and said, the lack of customer service was astonishing and I was not in the mood to argue, and would appreciate it if she kept her opinion to herself. Prissier couldn't stop herself from continuing, she then threatened to withhold the refund that the hotel manager had already approved. I walked next door to Parc 55 and received the most spectacular customer service and a beautiful room on the 25th floor for almost the same cost.

Hotel Abri is downtown San Francisco, I stayed one week. The room I got was really nice, it was a suite, it had a desk and a table, a comfortable king bed, a very good bathroom. Loved the walk-in shower. Since it is Covid time the hotel have a service to clean the room each 3 days if you ask for it, but they will bring you whatever you need. I like to change towels everyday, and they brought them to me as I asked. At this moment the restaurant is not working, but I found close some very good breakfast places, the best for me was Mo'z, on the 4th, just crossing Market. Loved the john's restaurant, one block from the Hotel.

Our room had a mini fridge - August, 2021.
BART is under $10 to the hotel from the airport and has a stop (Powell) one block away from the hotel Abri.
This is Urban Amenities service fee gives you access to “Active Sports Club” (nearby gym and pool), upgraded WiFi (up to 3mbps), welcome gift (bottle of wine, waters, snacks, bag), Gran and Go morning coffee, plus coupons to the neighboring Puccini and pinetti Italian restaurant (very good food and service). Hope that helps!
I’d suggest 2 rooms
My room was a normal double one and there was a lunge/sofa with a desk, tv and fridge. The room has another tv :)
