It's a an average/good hotel to stay but the problem is the horrible location. Homeless and drug addicted in the surrounding makes it impossible to go out walking especially in the evening / night time. A taxi is required for every trip outside the hotel.

If you love historic classic motels/hotels this is the place to stay! Great history and they have a wonderful book to share if you ask! The courtyard is peaceful and lovely to enjoy morning coffee or an evening cocktail. The staff is attentive and personable. Great stay!

This hotel is fantastic-it has it all. Great rooms, great pool, bar and restaurant and parking. They've done a wonderful job restoring this mid century gem. The front desk manager was friendly and helpful and made my check in and stay easy and very pleasant.

Wouldn’t recommend this hotel, for the price the location is not great, we didn’t feel comfortable walking around outside of the hotel. We came for a concert at a venue 10 minutes away and still called a Lyft. They did not enforce quiet hours and let a group party loudly in the courtyard until 3 am. I’m all for parties, but there is signage for courtyard hours and they were not held and we barely got any sleep because of people yelling and partying.

I stay here every time I am in SF. When you arrive, you may be a bit worried about the neighborhood but when you enter the hotel you are in a whole other world. The hotel is located in an area full of drugs and homeless, but safety is not an issue at the hotel. The staff is always friendly and just good down to earth people. The hotel restaurant has great drinks and food and a super cool ambience with vinyl records covering the walls. The pool is the best in SF! It is heated year-round to a perfect 86 degrees. The rooms are always clean and comfortable - every time I have to remind myself that stealing a pillow is not ok :) Keep up the great work The Phoenix!

Phoenix Hotel is a special find and a very cool place to stay in San Francisco. The neighborhood is a bit sketchy but the parking lot felt very safe. The rooms are hip. The hotel shares ownership with the El Cosmico in Marfa so all the merch/ swag is very cool and they have similar robes in the rooms. Would definitely recommend staying here with groups of friends or couples.

Good hotel in a difficult neighbourhood. Nice staff, cool pool, many plants around, free parking, stylish rooms, very good location, drug addicts outside on the street, rock and roll feeling all around. Inside the hotel excellent, outside difficult.

Love this cool motel style hotel with cute comfortable rooms and lovely sun filled pool area. Super friendly and helpful staff, convenient onsite parking, animals allowed, great for family, couples or solo. Despite the somewhat seedy city life outside the door, a very convenient location in the city. Hotel is very safe and secure. If it's your kind of place, it's your kind of place, I'll definitely be back. Also - great value.
