There are probably a hundred hotel options in downtown San Francisco. My go-to hotel is the San Francisco Marriott Marquis. Centrally located, you can easily get to all major attractions by foot, cable car, ride sharing, public transportation or taxi. I've had the opportunity to stay at this property more than once and every stay has been consistent with excellent...

Close to Moscone convention center, many varied fresh restaurants, the BART station and any other city transit options, and SF MoMA!! They have a water bottle filling station near the elevator which was so convenient and such a great service, we used it every day. The concierge desk was an invaluable resource for any need. The bellman, Roger, sets the...

All staff encountered were very kind and helpful. Front door attendants were very helpful when departing when trying to navigate several pieces of luggage with two small children on a busy city sidewalk. Housekeeping were very friendly and provided plenty of towels and even offered snacks to my 3 year old daughter.

Room was great, service excellent and very professional. The breakfast selections and quality in the level 2 lounge was well above most of the Marriott's we've been at. Elevator wait times were minimal and 39th floor offered amazing views of the City skyline.

The hotel was very nice and the staff was very responsive. I checked in by use the app and when we arrived there was a no waiting for check in. We had or room card in less than 5 minutes. The room was what i asked for. They also gave us an extra hour for a noon check-out. The location...

It was a fabulous hotel. It is well staffed with attentive and kind people. The room was clean and well appointed. It was quiet, in a great location, with everything you need for a business stay. Travel is hard....they made it easy and comfortable.

I've stayed at the Marriott Marquis three times now, and my husband stays there monthly for business. It is a fantastic place: great service, rooms with awesome views, and an ideal location. Great Concierge room for breakfast, apps, and evening snacks. One of my favorites, and I'm looking forward to my next stay.

I took my son on a college tour for spring break. We started in southern Cali and worked our way north. My plan was to save the best hotel for last so I allocated more funds the this hotel than the other 2. I was EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED! The common areas; lobby and restaurants were nice but the rooms were terrible....

We are finishing a three night stay here right now. It's pretty good. The location is convenient, the bed is super comfy, and the Lounge is excellent. Yet I don't think it was worth the prices they charge. The day we checked in was really quite bad. We arrived after a long day of traveling and received the exact room...

Staying in SoMa

Neighbourhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighbourhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighbourhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
