Fabulous stay for our anniversary on New Years in SF. We opted for Ritz Carlton over the Fairmont because we were kid-free and wanted a more adult environment but in a similar part of the city. I'm SO glad we did. We had a corner club suite and it was modern and spacious with lots of light. They organized an INCREDIBLE flower delivery and the room was absolutely comfortable and gorgeous. Our cleaning was quickly returned and hung in our closet. Room service didn't happen one day, which was weird considering how spot-on everything else was. Otherwise the service was excellent. The lounge was surprisingly modern and food was fresh and excellent. We walked everywhere from the hotel, including Chinatown and our evening show. We only hired a car once to go to Quince for dinner (which was a total let-down btw, & NOT recommended) to accommodate my shoes :) . Otherwise, walking was fine. We will stay again but with fewer plans so we can explore the hotel F&B options a bit more. I do wish they would provide reusable glass or steel water bottles and refill stations on each floor or in the room and do away with plastic bottles. Overall our stay was wonderful and totally worth the splurge!

Took my mother here as a present for her retirement in late January. Check in was smooth and the person attending to us, Ji Yoon Lee, upgraded us to a suite to celebrate the occasion which was greatly appreciated. The entire hotel smells wonderful (you can buy the scent in the gift shop) and it looks like a pristine palace. Our room was no exception to my prior observations, spacious and lovely with large windows and a gorgeous bathroom. Shortly after arriving to our room a bottle of champagne was delivered, Ms. Lee certainly made our trip extra memorable with these lovely touches. The only downside to this room was that it was so lovely we didn't want to leave it to go to our dinner reservations, but that's a good problem to have.
Breakfast at the restaurant downstairs was delicious, if you stay here you should definitely check it out.
Can't wait to return!

Glad they gave us two bars of soap, one for the sink and one for the shower (I prefer bar to liquid soap) . Toiletries included jumbo sized (not individual packages) of shampoo, conditioner, moisturizer, and liquid soap: Philoykos brand. (The French trend continued with Dammann tea in the dining room). In room amenities included robes, slippers, mouthwash, Nespresso coffee maker/coffee, organic tea, bottled water, etc.

Our room was large, comfortable, and clean. I especially liked that the large bathroom with two sinks included a toilet behind another door (water closet?). There were only two minor things I didn't like. (1) The tv was restricted - you can't connect any devices; you can sign into Netflix, but not most other streaming services. (2) You must step into the tub to take a shower, at least it's low tub/small step.

Our room included a $64 credit for breakfast for two; note that this is the cost of breakfast for one: pancakes, bacon, orange juice, and tea/coffee. We had an additional credit that we used at the bar, but should have saved for breakfast!

Breakfast is served in the dining room and lunch/dinner is available at the bar. The food was excellent and very attractively presented - the cauliflower appetizer is a perfect example. My only complaint is that I wanted more, more cauliflower and more of the black sesame sauce.

99% of the staff wore masks; Masks are optional for guests and most did not wear them, even in the elevators. There is no outdoor dining.

I’m extremely irate at the hotel. Due to the pandemic, my younger daughter could not safely travel. While my older daughter went on a trip with her dad, my younger daughter and I decided on a staycation in San Francisco. My daughter and I stayed at the Four Seasons downtown San Francisco for 4 nights and decided to stay at the Ritz for another night. Our experience has been very unpleasant at the Ritz in comparison with the Four Seasons. 1) We ordered room service for dinner. We were charged about $230 for a dinner for two that was okay. We were charged a significant amount above and beyond the actual price of the meal in various service charges.
2) Moreover, this morning I discovered that our dining cart was taken out of our room without our knowledge the next morning. This is annoying because I feel like our privacy was violated when they entered our room while we were sleeping!
3) They are inflexible as to our requests. We’ve paid a four figure amount for a one night stay and they would not accommodate our request for a late breakfast.
4) Staining on the bathroom floor.

Just overall, I was unhappy with my stay here and feel sad that the staycation ended so poorly with the Ritz.

Arrived and was immediately impressed with the level of service an graciousness from the entire team. Check in was smooth, and we were pleasantly surprised that there was a wine tasting experience onsite, plus a standard bar and breakfast location. Drinks and food were expensive - around $20 a cocktail, and $30 for the main however they were high quality. There was also a female server (Filipino lady I think who was excellent).

The room was fairly big and bed comfortable. Had a mini fridge (not stocked), espresso machine and other basic items. The only reason I am giving this a 4 star instead of a 5 is I found a hair in the bathroom upon arrival.

The concierge and bell men were very helpful, sharing useful tips and providing transportation on occasions where getting a taxi was difficult.

I recently stayed at the Ritz Carlton in San Francisco and had a very negative experience. At check in, the hotel volunteered that my party would receive a $350 food and beverage credit or $700 between the two rooms as part of a three night promotion there. I followed up to confirm on two different occasions with the front desk team about the credit which they confirmed along with the remaining amount as I used it at the hotel. After I checked out of the hotel, I discovered none of the credits were applied. When I contacted the hotel, they came up with a variety of excuses before deciding on that we needed to use an Amex for incidentals at the hotel instead of the Visa we used. Although we booked the rooms through Amex, they claim this was an Amex promotion and an Amex had to be used for everything and there was nothing they could do. I was incredulous at their response as no one at check in or throughout our stay mentioned this. At no time did the hotel ever apologize for misleading us and instead suggested this as somehow our fault for not using the correct branded card. This felt like a bait and switch by the hotel to induce us to spend money at the hotel under the pretext of a promotion. This whole experience by the hotel has been extremely unprofessional and I would recommend travelers looking at other more professional chains such as the Four Seasons.

Truly a fantastic hotel in a great location of the city. I stayed in September 2021, a time when many hotels were not offering most of their usual services, yet this hotel had twice daily housekeeping and room service.

The staff were exceptional. We ordered room service for breakfast each day and most evenings and the room service attendants knew what we liked and anticipated our requests after the first day. I commented how amazing their homemade ketchup was and when returning to the room later that day we found a personalized note with the recipe and two jars of the ketchup to take back home.

We stayed here for two nights. The location is great since you can literally walk everywhere.
A special mention goes to the staff. We were not happy with our room and the staff were very accommodating in showing us other rooms that were available until we decided on one we liked. Also, we would like to mention the extensive knowledge of the city the staff has. We were interested in Art, Movies, Food and Sightseeing since we wanted to experience as much as possible in this short time. The recommendations were spot on every single time. Thank you for making our stay so memorable.

We stayed at this property previously and chose it again for a short two night visit to San Francisco. We booked Club but we’re told upon arrival that we could not be accommodated on the Club Floor. I found this very frustrating and challenged the front desk for options. None were provided that met our needs (without a significant cost increase) and so we begrudgingly accepted a $50 food credit. A nice gesture but ultimately not what I was looking for when the room cost $1000/night.
The room had a typical Ritz Carlton layout and amenities - nothing overly special. The windows opened in our room and we could hear the trolleys - which the kids enjoyed.
As others mentioned, there were no chocolates or any attribute that made us feel special. We typically book with Ritz and I have never had a circumstance where a welcome gift (fruit, hand written note, etc) was not provided. In addition, there was no attempt to provide an experience for our children. Based on our two stays here, I would classify this as a very unfriendly/cold property that is targeted at business professionals and not families.

One positive element was the club personnel. They were all very engaging and we enjoyed talking with them. A great team with good customer focus.

Overall a decent hotel but there other options in the city that can provide a superior customer experience at this price point.

This hotel has an extremely elegant feel throughout. I highly recommend staying on the club level to experience the full character of this amazing place. The entire staff were extremely friendly and did everything to make you feel fully catered. In the 4 days we were there we never felt hungry, thirsty or opened a door. The location is just steps away from the famed San Francisco Chinatown with easy access to fisherman's wharf and pier 39.
