Hotel Triton strikes a chord with guests for its stylish ambiance and modern amenities, including artistic flourishes throughout the property. Its prime location near Chinatown and Union Square is consistently lauded, with easy access to nearby attractions. The cleanliness of the rooms and facilities often receives high marks, alongside commendations for the attentive housekeeping staff.
While the service is generally praised for its friendliness and helpfulness, and perks like the complimentary breakfast and happy hour are noted, some guests feel the amenities could be improved. Detailed Reviews
Hotel's Favourite
Good value for the price. Great location, less than a block from Chinatown, and minutes from Union Square, which is the closest BART station. We're guessing this is an older building. Showerheads were too low, and water pressure was mediocre. We had the smallest room, the Queen, We only slept there, so no issues. They have a Happy Hour from 4-6pm in the lobby. It is skewed to a younger crowd, and can get quite loud. On our last day the staff had to ask them to tone it down. Free breakfast was good, though not the best we've seen. For some reason they don't put butter out, only Cream Cheese. Most restaurants in this district close at 6pm, including the one next door, and are often closed on weekends. There is an excellent diner nearby, Lori's, open for far longer hours.
The staff is excellent, and eager to please.

When you just need everything to be possible.
This is the most comfortable, affordable and hospitable of all the high concept hotels in SF. Substance matters 24/7/365. Hotel Triton was the first to do it so well and it has always been a favorite go-to for those with an uncompromising eye for design and impeccable service gestures. This newly remodeled truly dog friendly hotel (where dogs stay for free) is an exceptional experience that will not disappoint you and your furry compadres, no doubt. Great value. Check-in is a breeze. Andres, along with all of the super front desk agents here are extraordinarily professional and accommodating. Book any which way that works for you and you will not be surprised with any of that awkward ball play you find at other establishments especially for the price. They can handle it all. They have it all—Deep Soaking tubs, sky high steam showers, king rooms with huge flat screens, windows with views of China town that open, the lighting in room is a makeup artists dream for unbelievable selfie profiles, tea kettles on demand, free chocolate chip cookies and cold beer for $1, late-check outs, curated gastronomic holiday specials. Just ask and yes is the answer. Pretty darn close to completely sound proof rooms—Reconfigured to maximize space. I come here to get away from it all and to reset that feeling of peace from within.

It is the coolest thing to step out the front door of the hotel and immediately to the right is China Town and to the left is high fashion shopping. Just grab a coffee or a tea from the myriad of shops nearby and away you go. Parking is next door and Fisherman's Wharf is only minutes away. After a day exploring all the best S.F. has to offer relax on your comfy bed with something cold from the in room fridge. The bathroom had great water pressure and no wait time for hot water. The lighting was perfect for make-up. The iron really cranked some steam out, which was perfect for meeting my fast paced schedule and sanitizing my face mask in a jiff. Storage was well thought out making the small room feel and function as a large apartment. The staff was ever so polite, respectful and helpful. Jason, the manager, has a great crew, his kindness and consideration certainly reflects through them. I will definitely be making Hotel Triton my San Fran Home Away From Home.
I've included a photo I took from the benches in front of the hotel. These are the entrance gates to China Town. It's very quaint at night, but the morning is the best. I went shopping there as the business owners were opening up for the day. Everyone was so friendly. Here you will find great shopping, food and exposure to the Chinese culture only matched by visiting China itself. Walk back to your room, freshen up and hit Pier 39 all before dinner at Mastro's. The Triton's location can't be beat.

This is one of the most quirky and charming boutique hotel one can find and stay in San Francisco.
The hotel was strict and adhere religiously to all Covid protocols and the very lean handful of staff was stellar and went above and beyond they efforts to make our stay as comfortable and safe as possible. The security was assured and the manager is just extraordinary.
The location is prime in the heart of downtown shopping area and right by the entrance to Chinatown with the abundance of choices of best Chinese food outside of Asia.
This is a great business and couples hotel for a couple night stay in the city and is extremely walkable to most of major attractions. Why drive when you can walk or hop to it.
I will certainly be back again and hope to get my family and friends to stay there soon.

For the price, you can't beat the convenient and relatively pleasant and safe location in front of the Chinatown Gate at the end of Union Square. The room are small (my was so small it only fit a full size bed) the building is old, and even though the hotel was renovated a year ago, the heating & cooling system is still old. You can control the temperature in your room with the window heating/cooling unit above your bed, but it is very loud when it comes on, which would be very annoying except it doubles as a white noise machine to drown out the loud street noise and pipe banging noise in the bathroom so you can sleep. Shower only - no bathtub, and the flower of the shower had cracks in it. On the up side, my room was clean and the bed is comfortable. The location is much better than the "Union Square" area below the Tenderloin and around Market st. The $30 "urban amenity" fee is ridiculous considering the small hotel really doesn't have any amenities, but hey that's why it's not $37-$50 charged by other downtown SF hotels. Good enough for 1 person for 1 night.

This is the epitome of perfect location. This hotel is located right in front of Chinatown and is it one of the stops on the Big Bus tour - so if this is your first time in San Francisco, I suggest staying here and buying your tour ticket to the Big Bus tour at the concierge. You will see and explore the ENTIRE city in about a day or two. It drops you off at 13+ main locations throughout the city.
The hotel itself is small but very well-renovated. The only thing that is a very big issue for me was the smell of the hotel. Whatever essential oil diffuser they're using through the entire hotel needs to calm down. It was so strong and made me sick everytime I walked in. Luckily, the rooms don't smell like that but waiting and walking through in the lobby was not pleasant.
I'd recommend this hotel because it's hard to find a clean, cute hotel in a central location for a great price like this one.

Referring to itself as a boutique is likely because it's small. Rooms are small. Heating/Cooling unit is in the window and was above the bed. Depending on location on your, iou could be on a noisy street, which I was. Walls are thin so you can hear your neighbors no matter what time of day. Little to no bedding provided Even though this was cheaper, lack of sleep is not worth it.

Hotel Triton was an exceptional hotel in the heart of SF. The staff was courteous and made sure our stay was smooth and clean. I especially liked that each room was cleaned then sealed so as we entered our room we knew we were the first ones in a clean and sanitized room. The Valentines Day special was a nice touch with champagne and chocolates.

My fiancé and I had a wonderful stay at the Triton when we recently needed to go back to the Bay Area to visit family. We were of course worried about the COVID precautions they were taking, and the staff made us feel safe from the moment we walked into the door.
The room was pretty spacious for SF and the bathroom recently renovated. Our favorite touch was the (intentional) hole in the shower glass so you can turn on the shower without getting wet. Mind blowing idea!
Also a great central location in the city. It was great knowing we were within a few blocks of whatever we needed despite so much of the city still being shut down.
Highly recommend a stay here!

The location is prefect !! Two blocks from union square, Chinatown is just one block! The room is cozy and clean. They have removed some items from the room due to the coivd but they put a list telling you which items are removed so you can request it if needed. A nice touch on a door seal sticker letting me know the room is cleaned and sanitized before I check in. I would return again !!

Yes. There are state taxes and a hotel tax. Not sure of the amounts but you need to factor those in. All hotels in Dan Francisco have them donors unavoidable.
