This hotel, close to Union Square, is a boutique hotel with a some perks. They have a free happy hour of local wine in the lobby and coffee each morning. The room is on the smaller side but the bed is very comfortable and the room is very clean. The value for what we got (approx $105 per night) is...

The reception is lovely but that initial experience was sadly not reciprocated once we checked in, where we were barely acknowledged and given no information whatsoever, or when we got to our room. The decor was tired and the bathroom cramped. Worst was the musty smell. We complained and were left shell shocked by the reaction or lack of from...

Me and my boyfriend stayed three nights at this hotel. We arrived in the evening and the staff welcomed us and were very kind. We liked our room at first sight. The bathroom smal, but clean and more than all right. Our bedroom was cosy furnished and had good space for our suitcases. And the location, as our priority, very...

I was actually thinking about cancelling my reservation after reading the posted reviews. But was happy with my stay. Booked a King Deluxe. Nice staff, very clean room and in general clean throughout. The wine social between 5 - 6 PM was an added bonus. Union square one block down, trolley car at the corner, bus line two blocks to...

I never write reviews on hotels - typically because I am never as disappointed and disgusted as I was with our stay here. We were staying for one night - and one night was too many in my opinion. It all started when we pulled up to the hotel and had to get our car valet parked, and were told...

My husband and I had heard about this hotel, both on TripAdvisor and from luxury discount travel sites, so we decided to give it a try. We flew to California to visit Napa, and decided to stay in San Fran the last night of our trip. We were very disappointed in the quality of this hotel; the lobby was modern...

We stayed here with my wifes parents in May as part of an Archers/Cosmos extension on a Route 66 tour. Our bathroom was absolutely freezing due to a window which we could not close. The handyman was sent up and a lot of banging and hammering ensued. He told us he would have to get an 'all weather strip' for...

The hotel has a very good location;four blocks from Union Square. At the corner ,on Powell St.,you can take the cable car up hill. It`s a nice and safe neighbourhood to walk back late. The room was Ok with very comfortable beds. The only drawback is that the windows have "american window blinks" and the sun gets through the shutter early in the...

Room was clean, comfortable beds, quiet and as good as it gets. The location could not be beat, China Town around the corner 2 blocks away, Union Square just down the street 4 blocks away, and the cable cars around the corner. The best part was how friendly, and accomodating the staff was. Full of advice on where to go,...

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
As the oldest in North America, San Francisco's Chinatown is an exotic experience. A unique neighbourhood decorated with colourful shops, historic streetlights, hanging lanterns, and pagoda roofs awaits behind the stone-carved dragon gates. Feast on dim sum at the tea houses, or meet the locals who gather at historic Portsmouth Square to play chess or practice Tai Chi. Fish markets, produce stands, tourist shops, jewelry stores, fortune tellers, temples and restaurants come together to create a world unto itself in this historic neighbourhood.
