What a great find! Asked for a quiet room when booking. $80 a night, with hotels.com and included a free light breakfast (ie: toast, juice and coffee - very basic). Checkin was great. Got given a map of the city and the rest of the touristy stuff, bus was a 3 minute walk and free wifi was a bonus. Plenty...

Made my reservation direct with the hotel and not advised until check-in that elevator has been out of service since November 2011 until "further notice". No 1st or 2nd floor units available so had to haul luggage and carry-on to third floor. Limited parking on first come, first served basis so plan on being back early or good luck trying...

We stayed here before so returned again, mainly as we knew we would be driving and they had free parking. However, we found that this time the room was fairly average, strong cleaning smells and the elevator wasn't working so we had to lug our suitcases up a couple of flights of stairs. Probably would consider somewhere elsewhere next time.

Man, what a weird place. It seems like a college kid inherited a run-down old motel from his grandfather and tried to fix it up by spending $500 at IKEA. The room looked like a dorm room - juvenile color scheme, odd desk chairs, torn carpeting, and nothing on the walls except two 8x10 ads for a coffee company, much...

The hotel is clean and bright with off street parking. Very pleasant and welcoming staff at checking and everything was dealt with quickly. Large bedroom basically furnished but very comfotable. One small downside was that my room overlooked Lombard Street which is very busy from early in the morning till late at night so some traffic noise but didn't bother...

If you're not looking for a lot of service and just a place to sleep and keep your things safe while you go out and see the city, then this is the place for you. No frills, but not too expensive either.

STAFF: During our two-night stay, we interacted with 3 different desk clerks. Each one was accommodating and very friendly. The biggest issue we had with our first room was cold shower water. We made a phone call down to the front desk and were offered to move into the room next door. The shower water was just a tad bit...

We stayed here November 2011 and it was an okay experience. The staff was friendly and willing to help with whatever they can. The location was pretty good given the price we paid in comparison to all the other rates the other hotels were going for. This place is preferred if you have a rental car or drove here yourself....

I stayed here with a friend attending a conference, in a room with 2 double beds. It was clean and roomy. The beds were comfortable, shower good and had all mod cons - fridge, coffee machine, air con, iron, ironing board, hair dryer, television, even a desk and leather chair. Wi-fi is free and fast. The front desk are helpful...

La Luna Inn has some advantages - free wifi, parking and location. Its one block away from Chestnut Street which has a strip of fantastic shops and restaurants. On the down side our room had a very old bathroom and the carpet had definitely seen better days. Overall the place is a bit on the dumpy side. Their website makes...

Staying in Marina District

Neighbourhood Profile
Marina District
Beautiful homes, beautiful people, and a beautiful backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge welcome visitors to the Marina. Originally the location for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915 (whose remnants can be seen at the Palace of Fine Arts), much of the land was filled and flattened to accommodate a world’s fair. That ample space has given way to a jogger’s paradise at the northern edge of the city. With the picturesque bay setting as its backdrop, it’s no surprise that the area has hosted numerous movie productions. Daytime activities focus on café culture and boutique shopping, while the evenings turn this neighbourhood into a party-going hotspot.
