In the hands of a good manager this could be the charming, idiosyncratic, funky hotel it aspires to be. As it is, the building's history and the cute concept (quaint, old-fashioned department store) are not enough to make this hotel worth even 1/3 of its cost in high season. The rooms are indeed big, but they are too big for...

We loved the ambiance of the lobby as we entered especially since I am a former Ivey's shopper. Loved the champagne upon check-in. All employees were first class professionals. Loved the large room and bathroom. Great location in downtown. Had dinner at Isa's Bistro which was fabulous -- all delicious. Would definitely return to the hotel and Bistro.

We stayed here 5 nights and highly recommend this hotel. It's a great location--easy to walk anywhere downtown. The staff was terrific--very helpful and pleasant. Though all were great, Terry was especially helpful answering questions and making suggestions. Our room, though the least expensive type, was spacious with a comfortable bed and a large sofa and arm chair. The inclusion...

Stan was The Man! What an awesome Bellman/Valet! He explained the various hidden items in the cabinets of the King Suite. Fridge, coffee maker, sink, and in another was the TV, dresser drawers, and room safe. Two adults, two children, and a crib/playpen could have fit in this room! The WiFi was fast. The restaurant was good and the Louisiana Root...

We stayed here for 6 nights on vacation with our dog. Everyone was super friendly and helpful during our stay. They are very pet friendly. The location is fantastic easy to get around town by foot. The cars are valet parked and we had access to it within minutes when we wanted to hike or visit the Biltmore. I highly...

My wife and I stayed here for an anniversary get-away and we could not have picked a better place. You could walk everywhere downtown. The staff was great. Loved the truffles from The Chocolate Fetish that were delivered during turndown service nightly. The former department store decor was interesting as well.

Centrally located in downtown Asheville, but very quiet and restful. Hotel is a former historic department store, beautifully renovated. Rooms are very large and comfortable, well furnished and with updated conveniences. Staff is friendly and efficient. Parking is by valet, which is included in room rate, rather than onsite. Free in-room wifi, occasionally spotty. Would stay there again without hesitation.

After traveling in a vehicle for 1,700 miles this was a welcome spacious oasis. Loved that it was within walking distance of a lot of great restaurants and shops. The hotel room was perfect - even had a TV in the bathroom which we got a kick out of. Everything has been thought of for you here - and a...

From the moment we arrived, we received top-notch service from the staff. We arrived prior to our room being ready, so the staff gladly held our bags while we enjoyed a food tour (highly recommend the High Roller tour http://eatingasheville.com/tours/high-roller/). When we returned, we were presented with a glass of champagne and told that while we were out, our room...

The Service is fast and friendly, The Hotel is perfectly situated in down town Asheville walking distance from great bars and Restaurants. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable. The view is just spectacular, we were on the 4th floor and looked out onto the city and could see the mountains in the back ground. Just a great hotel!!
