My partner and I traveled with two friends, and the price for the four of us in two rooms was great value. It being a hostel, we didn't expect anything luxurious, and it was a decent stay. The cons were: the walls were fairly thin and I was able to hear the person next door in the bathroom brushing their...

I stayed at Bon Paul and Sharkey's for a weekend in Asheville. The hostel has a very relaxed mood to it and the staff is very helpful and welcoming. They really treat you like friends rather than guests. The location is peaceful and is a short walk from some good places to check out and eat/drink. I plan to go...

I'm a very picky traveler so the idea of staying at a hostel was sort of weird to me. Luckily I got talked into it and my boyfriend and I stayed at Bon Paul & Sharky's Hostel for two nights. We got the private room in the basement and it was an amazing price! The only thing wrong with it...

My fiancé and I stayed in December whilst hiking in the surrounding area. We stayed two nights as we thought the location was great for what we were after. The staff were amazing, very friendly and had usefu information. The hostel itself is a bit old-school - we stayed in the private room downstairs -no locks for the door, and...

After finding the hostel a bit by chance was pleasantly surprised by it. It consists of a large main house area with dorms and private rooms, and extends out the back to great and sociable raised decking area. further back is a garden with space for a few tents and some small cabins. I really like the mix of different...

I too do not understand the rave reviews at this place. The people were cool and most of the staff was cool minus one passive aggressive staff member that worked in the morning. My experience was a little different because I was camping in the backyard for $18/night/person, which I think may be a little steep, but for our situation...

I booked my reservation online an after receiving the confirmation email I decided to do some further investigative work. Not being from around the West Asheville Area I took to Google Earth and street viewed my little Hostel as well as all the places surrounding it. Not only was I blown away at how well I was surrounded by great...

Bon Paul and Sharky's was a great solution for my little solo trip to Asheville. The hotel prices in the area are expensive. Therefore, I stayed at Bon Paul's and it was a great solution for a lady traveling by herself because the other guests were so nice and the employees (Zach and Nathan) were very hospitable. I would compare...

It was my first stay in a hostel and I had a great time. We had a spaghetti dinner with the staff on the first night. We also played cards and scrabble with the staff and other housemates that night. They made our stay very welcoming. I stayed in a private room. The only downside was sharing the bathroom with...

I cannot understand all the rave reviews here. I stayed in a private room over the summer, had planned 2 or 3 nites considering the popularity. The room I had was filthy. The floor looked like it hadn't been swept in months -- I felt like I couldn't breathe because of all the dust/dirt, no lie. Horrible. Because of no...

“If you're traveling as a couple it makes sense to get a private room. It only costs a little bit more from getting two bunks and you (obviously) have more privacy. If you're a light sleeper then the basement isn't for you just due to the fact that the rooms above you are hard wood. We didn't have any problems though.”
