Many travelers appreciate the Grand Bohemian Hotel Asheville for its inviting atmosphere and exceptional amenities, including quality dining and attentive valet service, despite the pricey $30-a-day parking. The hotel's cleanliness, especially the immaculate bathrooms, is frequently praised, as is the warm and efficient service provided by the staff. Situated conveniently near Biltmore Village, the hotel's location makes accessing downtown Asheville's attractions a breeze. While the rooms are noted for their comfort and unique decor, a few guests find them to be on the smaller and outdated side.

From the moment I arrived, the staff at this hotel treated me like a valued guest. Alex, one of the very professional and welcoming valets, greeted me upon arrival and removed my luggage out of the back of my car while I checked in. My room was ready right away even though I was early, so I greatly appreciated that. That evening I had dinner at the Red Stag Grill, and John S was a truly excellent server!! He was very attentive but yet gave me the space that I needed. My filet and Caesar salad were absolutely delicious and the filet was cooked perfectly. This restaurant’s wine menu is absolutely excellent. Kudos to the Somm!! For someone who enjoys good wine, you might have a difficult time deciding which wine to order, but there are plenty of wines available by the glass so I tried several over the course of my stay.

The King room I had, which was in the main building, not the separate Manor building, was very comfortable. The bed slept very comfortably and the bath linens and bed linens were of a high-quality. There is a tub and a walk-in shower, as well as a separate toilet area. The water pressure in the shower was good, but the space in the shower was a bit small for a woman needing to shave her legs. I ended up turning the water off so that I could shave and then turning the water back on to rinse off. Not a big deal, but worth mentioning. The TV in the room was large but to my knowledge, it is not a smart TV, so you would not be able to stream Netflix or other streaming services. I inquired about hooking up a DVD player, but that is not an option either. Again, not a huge deal, but some of the channels we normally watch such as Ion, WE and Oxygen, were not available here. One thing that truly impressed me with this hotel is that they have resumed offering daily housekeeping. I opted not to have it since I was only here a few nights, but I applaud them for trying to get back to offering all the normal perks of staying in a nice hotel.

Spa review:

My massage was overall a good experience. The only thing that left a bad taste in my mouth was that I paid an additional $25 for the use of whipped body butter during my massage, but oil was used. When I inquired about this afterwards, the spa hostess told me that they mix the body butter with the oil. That seems odd. It definitely was not worth the additional $25. Aside from that, it was a good massage. The table was heated and the linens were silky soft. The only other thing worth mentioning for potential future guests is that there is no relaxation area to have spa snacks and tea. I was offered a small bottle of water upon my departure, but that is the only beverage I was offered. For these prices, I would expect there to at least be tea or a neck wrap or complimentary champagne.

Our stay was proceeded by research on my part, trying to ensure I knew what we were getting with "4 stars". I booked the king suite for two nights and then downloaded the app after my confirmation and time to check-in. I was able to check-in online and set my check in time and the room was ready when we arrived about a hour after that set time. The lobby was busy and we somehow missed the front desk, but then were greeted by a very helpful staff member. She recommended restaurants and talked about some offerings of the hotel. I had requested online any 'upgrade' they would have to offer, trying to make sure it was on par with the trip I had booked for our first outing after several years without the kids. When I mentioned this 'upgrade' at check-in, she mentioned they had already upgraded us from the 'manor house' to the main house. I didn't understand at the time, but that enabled us to remain in the same building as the restaurant and bar and lobby, and now we think this would be a requirement next time we stay. The room did not disappoint, with great space and a corner room, we were welcomed with a wall of windows, generous storage, and the dream bathroom with a shower and soaking tub. We joked about the possibly 'too intimate' glass toilet door, but overall the room was the highlight of our stay. The restaurant Red Stag seemed hyped up, but I made reservations a few weeks prior. The first night we were led back to the backroom for our table for two, and although the intent was good, the delivery of ambiance from that dark back room was lacking. The music seemed too quiet, and only 2 other tables were being used, so it would seem we could all have one conversation if we gave any effort. We tried to have a quiet conversation, but when everyone is making effort to be quiet it just gives more attention to the loud silence. We left early the first night, after the best food we have shared in our marriage. Then the next morning I requested room service for breakfast, and I was told there was a 'special' menu for this, and I opted to just order the food and pick it up at Red Stag. Seems like for $10 someone could have taken my brown sack breakfast up 3 floors to our room, but the food was decent for breakfast. The second day we ate lunch there, and dinner again, but this time we sat directly at the bar and our food experience was perfect each time. We visited downtown and the Biltmore, and staying here made it easy to come and go from both areas. We will return many more times we hope.

Stayed here while on a quick trip to Asheville. The hotel has a fun, hunting lodge-like design (though it's barely more than a decade old!). The room was nice, spacious, and had many unique touches, and the artwork all around the property was very cool to explore. The staff and setup all seemed to be very respectful of covid-19 restrictions.
If you're looking for value, look elsewhere, but if you're looking for value there are also many other options in the area- in this hotel the price premium gets you a great location with unique design and great service.
One specific negative was the $27/day parking fee which there's not much of a way to avoid, if you come with a car.

I booked this hotel because the photos, etc. looked amazing. I had also stayed at the Bohemian in Savannah and had a great experience. The lobby is unique and beautiful, however the room was a huge disappointment. Ours was very small, and dark. We had a very small window. and the soaker tub mentioned was absent. I realize that times are challenging, but trying to get any form of hospitality was a challenge to say the least. Requests for water, trash removal fell on deaf ears. We had reservations for 5 nights, and left after 3 and booked the only thing available in Gatlinburg, TN at a Holiday Inn Express - I would never have thought that Holiday Inn would be an upgrade. Sadly disappointed in Marriott.

I booked two rooms in early October, for a total of over $525/night PER ROOM. Our rooms were in the building across a busy street, which is very inconvenient. One of the rooms was a corner room, which had a view of the street and the main hotel bldg, the 2nd room had a view of the brick wall of the adjacent art gallery bldg. Upon entering my corner room, I was greeted by a tray of dirty dishes left on the table outside my door. I entered my room, put down my bags (including my purse and phone) and went next door to visit my friends' room. I immediately noticed their room was small, had an 'open concept' bathroom to the room (no wall), the bedspread was frayed at the bottom, and there was a large tear in the curtain. The furnishings and general appearance of the room were also outdated, worn, and tired looking.
I then went back to my room and my key would not work. The housekeeper on the floor was also unable to enter with her key. She called facilities, and a man came over to discover that the batteries in the automated lock were broken. 45 minutes later, I was finally able to get back into my room and retrieve my purse and phone.
Upon returning to the room before dinner, we were sitting on the bed and discovered dried blood stains on the throw pillow that was on the bed! I then discovered dried urine on the back of the commode that had not been cleaned, and mold in the shower. But that doesn't compare to later seeing that the bedspread we had been sitting on earlier had semen stains on it in several different places.
My corner room was noisy with street traffic, but that was not as bad as the train that rumbled through at 3 am.
I did speak to the manager about my concerns, and he (and the breakfast quality in the restaurant) are the only reason this is not a one-star review. To call this place a luxury hotel and charge $500+ a night is appalling for what is received in the satellite building.
On a positive note, the hotel is in a convenient location to Biltmore and Biltmore Village.

This 12 year old hotel, featuring a "big game" restaurant, (The Red Stag Grill), strives to reflect the Biltmore Inn Hotel, and Grove Park Inn ambiance decor and dining, but it misses the mark. Priced in the $400 a day range it is less than the aforementioned hotels and is not their equal. The reserved room I requested, and paid for in advance at their online website, was not the one we received. It lacked a balcony and certain amenities in the shower that were shown on the website. When questioned about this the manger told us that he never saw the bathroom amenities I spoke of on their website. I checked again, they are most definitely there in the room photos.
We were told that the hotel was booked so changing to the room I thought I reserved was not possible. The room itself, except for the fancy tub most seniors have no chance of getting into and out of, was no better in size or decor than room at hotels costing far less. Room service included a 20% fee, and a $5.00 charge for the delivery.
Upon departure I challenged the $27 a day parking fee guests had to pay that is in addition to the daily room charges. Friends visiting hotel guests get free validated parking, and those coming just for lunch/dinner pay only a $8.00 parking fee. After listening to my opinion about the unfairness of those charges the desk manger agreed to waive those $27 a day parking charges.
The Red Stag Grill highlights their game menu like a $40 Elk steak, sides are $5 each. Other options include duck that was disappointing as were the fried calamari appetizer and the soup offering. All in all the menu was expensive and only a little above average at best.Their touted wine list was substantial, but most bottles were over $100.00, certainly the ones the waiter recommended.
The Red Stag Lounge had a long bar and seating at tables. The problem was that if one wanted to have a pre dinner drink in the lounge seating was only available at the bar because the few tables they had were reserved for those patrons ordering food from the bar menu.
Considering the many other Asheville hotel options (both more and/or less expensive), I could not recommend this hotel and restaurant experience as getting the most "bang for your buck."

Stay Report 11/7 to 11/9

Location: Pretty good if you have a car.  It's located right by the entrance to the Biltmore Estate.  Nearby are a number of shops and some fast food restaurants.  Downtown Asheville is an easy 5-10 minute drive away.  It's also very close to I-40 which makes it easy to get around the area.  If you're looking to walk to the usual drinkeries and eateries it isn't the best choice (the Aloft and Renaissance are better for that) but if you want a quieter spot it's great.

Hotel: Very lovely.  It doesn't look like much from the street but it's absolutely gorgeous on the inside.  It's decorated in a rustic hunting theme with antlers and heads on the wall.  There's a lot of local art in the corridors and common areas and a wonderful grand lobby with a fireplace as well as a really nice restaurant and bar.  Do note parking is limited to valet and it's an unfortunate $27 a night.

Check In: I was thanked for being Titanium and given continental breakfast coupons for each day along with a $10 F&B credit.  Nice to see the hotel hasn't cut breakfast benefits.

Room: I was unable to use a SNA or get an upgrade but the room I booked was very nice.  Two comfortable Queen beds, desk, large TV and a great bathroom with bath and separate shower.  Annoyingly the TV wasn't an InternetTV but that's my lone complaint.

Dining: Excellent service every time we were in the bar and they made great cocktails and had a very good menu with a hunting lodge them to it which meant for some exotic meats.  The breakfast coupons were $10 towards the menu which I was happy with.

This hotel is expensive (I paid 60,000 points per night vs. $550 cash) but it was well worth it.  I look forward to returning.

We stayed there in September 2020 and there were lots of COVID precautions being taken. There was no housekeeping once you check in due to Covid.
We stayed in the Manor House corner room #5 and the room was nice, spacious, clean and seemed quite new as was the bathroom area. There was a safe in the closet. Shower was great. Ice was available on third floor.
I noticed on many reviews that people were concerned about staying in The Manor House which is across the street from the main hotel. The street can be busy but the weather was nice and the total distance and time it takes to get from the Manor House to the main lobby was still less than in most high rise hotels.
We ate breakfast in The Red Stag (hotel restaurant) and both meals were terrific and reasonably priced. The location is at the Biltmore Village near the entrance to The Biltmore. There were many restaurants available for dinner in the area within a few miles of the hotel. The hotel is part of a chain that displaces very nice artwork throughout the hotel. Parking was about $30 a night. The people working at the desk were very helpful and the car valets were knowledgeable about the area and very friendly.
Overall impression is that it was a great hotel, albeit overpriced.

My husband and I planned a getaway using our Marriott points. There are numerous choices in Asheville and many people urged me to stay in one of the downtown hotels since this one is a little outside town, I’m so glad I didn’t listen and chose the Grand Bohemian. It’s about a 5-10 minute drive into the main downtown area, which isn’t bad at all. This hotel is at the main entrance to the Biltmore Estate and in Biltmore Village which a really cute little area with shops to walk around for a few hours. It’s a newer hotel but was built to look like an older hunting lodge and fits in perfectly with the surrounding Biltmore Village. As a platinum member, you get a breakfast voucher for a yogurt parfait at The Red Stag Grill, or you can use a credit of $8 towards another breakfast. The hotel is well appointed, has beautiful artwork and furniture throughout, and the rooms are comfortable and well decorated. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

I stayed at the Grand Bohemian a few years ago with friends and had an amazing experience. I was eager to return with my husband for a quick kid-free trip. We were so disappointed. They did not appear to be following rigorous COVID-era cleaning protocols.

While I totally understand that people put food trash outside of their room doors, we saw several piles that were not picked up in a timely manner. For example, this pile was outside of a room on our corridor, and there were dirty glasses outside of our room door. It was there when we first arrived, and it was STILL there when we arrived back to the hotel later in the evening. Yuck. I called front desk to report it but the phone just rang - no answer.

Also, the fridge in the room was just plopped on an ottoman, not plugged in. Weird.

I expect more from a hotel of this caliber and price, and probably won’t be back. Very sad, because it is a beautiful and unique hotel, and my first stay was so memorable.

There is on street parking around the hotel but you will end up walking a few blocks. As someone else pointed out you can self park but will still be charged a valet parking charge. Frankly, parking is usually scarce in most of Biltmore Village.
