Kimpton Hotel Arras earns rave reviews for its prime downtown Asheville location, with guests frequently highlighting the convenience of nearby dining and attractions. The hotel's cleanliness and modern, artistic atmosphere are praised, though some suggest housekeeping could improve. Spacious, well-appointed rooms with stunning views captivate many travelers, despite occasional grievances about amenities. The service is generally lauded for its professionalism and friendliness, but issues with housekeeping intrusiveness are noted. While the amenities add to the luxurious feel, opinions on value are mixed, with some guests criticizing the costs for parking and additional services.

I love Kimpton hotels! And Asheville’s version was great. Just a few things that I would change. My three friends and I booked a king suite, Mountain View. The bathroom is lovely and huge! I like the door to the toilet area was frosted, however the shower door should also be frosted. This way someone can take a shower while other person gets ready at sink area. It was difficult with 4 people trying to get ready.

Also, the pullout sofa was the most uncomfortable bed I’ve slept on in my life. I know sofa beds aren’t known to be that comfortable, but this was terrible. Springs were poking into my body. The king bed was very comfy. And after the first night of sofa bed, we decided sleeping on couch was more comfortable than the pull out mattress. Not what I expect from a Kimpton.

Staff was amazing! Bartenders were great! Loved the happy hour staff and the valet parking staff. Every person we encountered were sweet and helpful.

The location can’t be beat. Easy walking distance to ever hit thing downtown. I will be back, but next time, I’ll pay less and get the two queen room.

Great downtown location with professional staff. The King Mountain View room was a good size but we were not impressed with the view as the mountains were far in the distance and the close up view was of a parking lot. There is a filtered water station on each floor. Excellent storage space in the bathroom. Large shower with strong water pressure but a loud drain. They still have a modified housekeeping program so no deep cleaning or sheet changes. Pricey valet parking only but we used the AC Marriott self parking across the street that is only $20/day. There are some great restaurants within a short walk; we really enjoyed Chestnut and Rhubarb.

This hotel is gorgeous and truly in the middle of everything. We walked everywhere so easily. Staff embodies everything I love about Kimpton. A little curt communication prior to our stay was completely turned around at check in. Hope helped us at the front desk and was professional, knowledgeable, helpful, and kind.

Valet guys were professional and thoughtful as well. Trusted them completely to take our vehicle. Garage is offsite and shared with the AC Hotel. There are two EV spots and they plug in for you.

Kimptons are pet friendly and do not charge when you bring your fury family. I fully support this as my fur children are quieter, cleaner, and more well behaved than most human children. Thank you Kimpton!

Lobby is stunning with too many interior design details to describe. I loved the seating nook across from the front desks with records. You can enjoy a local beer or glass on wine on the house from 5-6 nightly. Complimentary coffee and tea in the mornings too with all the add ins (almond milk too). Kimpton extras!

This property has two restaurants/bars and both on the first floor. Italian themed and lovely. All pasta made in house daily! They offer delicious breakfast options too (and fresh squeezed OJ).

Our room was gorgeous with mountain views. Decor was modern, thoughtful and unique. Room was very clean. Another note is that most furniture went to the floor or was backed against a wall which eliminates places for pets to hide. Thoughtful!

I would stay here again thanks to great service received on property.

Nice hotel. The front desk staff was amazing, they have a great bar, and this hotel is obviously working hard while Asheville is recovering from the hurricane. I'd give it a higher rating, but they have a housekeeping staff that comes and bangs on your door in the morning while you are showering and trying to get dressed. They want to see if you are leaving. That should never happen. If this hotel had a system to inform their housekeepers that their guests have checked out, I would come again. But not until they can guarantee that won't happen.

A Gem in Downtown Asheville.

Staying at the Kimpton Hotel in downtown Asheville was an absolute treat. We live in Asheville and went with friends to celebrate a birthday with dinner and a play . (At the wonderful NC Stage- separate review) Had a great time.

From the moment you step through the doors, you’re greeted with genuine warmth and friendliness from the staff that truly sets the tone for your stay. Adam was at the front desk, and Quentin helped with check in. Angel welcomed and served us during the featured happy hour. Staff go above and beyond to make you feel cared for, creating a hospitality experience that’s second to none.

The hotel itself is stunning, with thoughtfully curated decorations and breathtaking architecture that blend modern elegance with a cozy, inviting atmosphere. Every detail feels intentional, from the art adorning the walls to the beautifully designed common areas that make you want to linger.

The location is unbeatable—right in the heart of downtown Asheville. Whether you’re looking to explore local shops, galleries, or the vibrant music scene, everything is just a short stroll away.

The restaurant? Absolutely delicious. The dishes are crafted with care, showcasing fresh, local ingredients and flavors that delight the palate. Whether dinner, or a leisurely drink, the culinary experience is one you’ll savor.

We visited with Sarah Cockman, the manager on duty, as we checked out. From her delightful disposition and personal communication, it was plain to see how that custom focus radiates through out the hotel.

The Kimpton Arras in Asheville delivers a perfect blend of charm, comfort, and luxury. We can’t wait to return!

My wife and I spent 4 nights at this beautiful hotel. It is gorgeous and modern inside and out. We were greeted by valet staff that did an excellent job parking and retrieving our car super fast all week, and check-in was a breeze. This is one of the tallest buildings in the area, but the touchscreen-controlled elevators get you up to your floor in no time. Our "mountain view" room on the 7th floor was above the top of most nearby buildings, and had great views of downtown Asheville and the mountains all around. Despite its central downtown location, street traffic was not loud inside the room and didn't keep us up at all. The room was in pristine condition, with extremely comfortable beds, tons of storage for clothes and belongings, and a beautiful walk-in shower that had great water pressure and plenty of hot water. The staff, including Triston, Will and Kelly, were available instantly (seriously fast!) via text message and took care of us well! The hotel has a restaurant on the main floor that also provided room service, with super fast deliveries and great food. The only thing I can think of that could have been better is the way adjoining rooms work: the doors between the rooms have about a 2" air gap underneath, which means you can hear the guests in the neighboring room. We rolled up a towel and put it in that gap between the doors to muffle the sound. Despite that, we had such a great time here that we'll be sure to book here again next time we visit Asheville.

First and foremost, this hotel is beautiful. Well thought out and beautifully finished, but…you are paying for the bed and shower gel nothing else. Everything else is out of your own pocket, from food to parking. Expensive hotel offering a budget level of service, but at premium prices.

For such a pricey hotel, everything is extra. Breakfast, that’s paid for by you and no discount for hotel guests, so add on another $30 per day. But don’t worry, they offer a free coffee each day…and that’s it. You want to park? It’s $30 for valet or $15 per night if you want to self park (and it’s well hidden that you even can do that). These are simple things that should come under the price of a ‘luxury’ hotel to make the experience more palatable. There is a general attitude of ‘not my problem’ towards these costs, as if they can’t negotiate discount rates. They can, and I have been to other hotels that have. Clearly there is just disinterest there

I have been to 2* hotels that have offered more features.

Such as shame, as mentioned above the hotel is exquisite and location is perfect, but they could have made it a nice experience for minimal costs

My solo stay at the Kimpton Arras in Asheville was longer than expected - 12 nights. I splashed out for a corner mountain view suite and was not disappointed, despite being (according to my wife) a very fussy hotel guest. The suite was spacious, clean and comfortable with great views across the town towards the mountains. The lack of in room coffee maker was more than made up for by the coffee station in the mornings and the afternoon happy hour drinks and snacks. The people were very friendly and helpful. Even the general manager would stop and chat. I was so content, I didn’t even feel aggrieved by the charge for valet parking. And the valet’s faultless recommendations for hiking and breakfast spots were a bonus. There were dogs everywhere, and the high tech elevators took alot of getting used to, but that all added to the charm in my view. Surely there was something to complain about..? Nope. Thanks for having me - hope to see you again before too long.

We had an excellent stay at the Kimpton Arras. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed being able to bring our dog with us, who was greeted with a welcome gift upon arrival. We booked the Mountain View Suite and watched the sunset over the mountains each night. There are lots of restaurants and breweries within walking distance, and the valet made it very easy for us to park and retrieve our car when needed. Take advantage of the amenities including the evening happy hour, morning coffee bar, in room yoga mat and bathrobe, and large soaking tub (dependent on room). Of note, the hotel is very centrally located so the nights might not be the quietest with street traffic, but this did not detract from our stay or enjoyment of the hotel.

This location is the absolute best if you want to explore downtown Asheville. The Arras is beautiful, clean, modern and the staff were all super friendly and accommodating. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the hotel to friends but I do have a few complaints. One, the street noise is quite loud from the rooms. We were on the 9th/top floor and it was still very loud until very late at night. I felt like I was back in Times Square. So pack your white noise machine and a hefty set of earplugs. There’s no coffee maker in the room. We asked at the desk and they gave us a keurig to use and said they stopped providing in room coffee makers because of Covid?? How does forcing/encouraging strangers to mingle in the lobby rather than stay in their rooms make sense during a pandemic? They also have a reverse osmosis filtered water tap and bags of ice on each floor which is great except there is no water pitcher or carafe to hold the water so you have to walk your little bathroom glass down the hall and back every time you want that delicious filtered water. We asked about this as well and again were told it was a Covid precaution??? Instead they gave us small plastic water bottles we could refill. So now we’re adding to the landfill and potentially contaminating our water bottles or the tap by holding them up to the faucet and then our mouths (and back again) instead of having a carafe that is reusable and more sanitary? No logic…..
