Conveniently located within downtown Asheville, the hotel is clean, follows COVID 19 protocol and is very service oriented. The staff greeted me with and provided me a map of the downtown area and local restaurants to consider. The garage parking was a huge plus for only $10 a day. The hotel allows dogs free of charge as long as your dog is leashes and or crater inside the room. The fitness center (during COVID) requires a reservation for working out (1 hour slots with allotment for 1 person only, allowing for 30 minutes for cleaning in between reservations) is clean and sanitized. The hotel offers free coffee, but Starbucks is an additional charge as well as continental breakfast items. We will stay here again once in the Asheville area.

Plus:
The location in downtown Asheville is wonderful - within easy walking distance of so many shops, galleries, and restaurants but on a street that itself isn't too busy or noisy.
The room was a bit small; it was designed to be compact and had a tiny closet, but the shower was nice and large. Good lighting and a lot of plugs made the room visitor-friendly. One lovely touch was a small pack of sanitizing wipes that I will enjoy having in my purse.
We had little interaction with staff, and every guest I saw wore a mask.
Cons:
The room seemed very clean, but there were remnants of party decorations still stuck high up on the wall.
We were in a room with a door to an adjoining room. When the people in the next room got up early this morning, we could hear every word of their conversation.
Maybe rooms that don't have the possibility of adjoining would be quieter.
There was no coffee for the coffee maker.

Our room facing the Main Street was very noisy all night with the street traffic.
The public parking garage attached to the hotel is very difficult to navigate and the parking spots very narrows . Dangerous parking lot.
The cooks cooking breakfast needs to wear gloves while cooking . Having a dog for adoption in a Pen in the lobby is a good idea but not so close from the open breakfast kitchen in the lobby on the second floor is not a very good idea in my opinion. Doesn’t looks very hygienic .
I did not feel safe walking at night by the hotel.
Employees at front desk were very nice .

I was not impressed with this hotel. First time staying at Aloft. Won’t be doing it again. Room didn’t get cleaned because apparently our 6 lb dog in its crate was a threat. No one told us they won’t clean a room that has a dog in it. We would have cleared the room for half hour had we known that. The room is all open so that means all the unpleasantries that happen in a bathroom linger throughout the whole room. Amenities are very minimal. Body lotion and a 2 in 1 shampoo/conditioner dispenser on the shower wall.
Keep searching for a better hotel would be my advise.

If you think you’re going to be staying at a typical Marriott, think again. We made it through two nights here but could never have done a third. The hotel is ideally located and that’s about the only positive thing I can say. The design and decor of this place might be appealing to young backpackers and their dogs but not so much for the average traveler. It’s hard to know exactly what they’re trying to achieve here, but spending time designing comfortable rooms might serve them better than posting cutesy signs everywhere and making the whole place into a word game. Splash (the closed pool), Recharge (fitness center), Refuel (food, or was it the bar since the only food one could get was from a Starbucks, where you could buy a $12 bowl of oatmeal?).

But my real complaint concerns the room itself. There’s no daily cleaning service now ‘due to Covid’, the room set up is bizarre, and the beds are extremely uncomfortable so if you’re used to Marriott beds, go to the Marriott down the street. The bathroom area in our room had a separate toilet/shower with a huge sliding door that I could barely close due to its weight. There are no hooks anywhere in the bathroom and only one little rod for towels over the toilet-nothing in the sink area. When you open the shower door, the toilet area floor gets covered in water for you to step in the rest of the day. The shower in our room had a glass panel so if you turned on the light in the night, it lit up the bedroom. The only area spacious enough to get dressed was at the sink but that was right next to the door so make sure your traveling companion doesn’t go in or out until you’re dressed. The bed area was claustrophobic and only had one small bedside table. Hotel designers should try staying in their own designs!

And then there are the dogs barking (and at one point growling) in the halls through the paper thin walls...Needless to say, we won’t be be back.

We arrived at this hotel Thursday to find out that they were NOT offering housekeeping and blaming COVID while they allow their bar to be shoulder to shoulder so clearly not a safety issue but poor management cutting expenses by reducing services. No where does it state they will leave you with your trash and towels for days. I would have never stayed here. Usually get to choose from breakfast or points- would not allow the breakfast credit. Room temperature hard to control. Just overall a poor choice. We come to Asheville often and there are many better managed property where they think about their guests

Dear BankhOliday, Thank you for your feedback concerning your visit. Constructive feedback allows us to be better. We take the safety and security of our guest associates very seriously. We have worked very closely with Marriott on their guidance concerning changes in our policies and procedure, because of Covid. We all look forward to having these difficult times behind us.

Great location, convenient to most things downtown. The Bonvoy app said parking would be $10/day, but it was actually $15, however, it allowed in & out privileges & was easy to access. I had checked in on the app, and had my digital room key, but it wouldn't work in the elevator & the staff said it is 50/50 if it would work or not. Our first night was great, second night there was a LOT of noise (other guests, random pipe noises, etc).

Appreciated the filtered water dispenser at the ice station. Staff was very friendly & loved the foster dog who greeted us at the front desk. I was impressed by the provided toiletries which were DryBar brand, but wish there was a full size lotion as we used up the tiny travel sized bottle quickly. Since we were traveling friends, I appreciated that the bathroom had a fan in it ;) I really liked that I could play my music via bluetooth & the TV. We found the beds & pillows very comfortable. I did have some trouble finding a sweet spot for the temperature, as the unit pumped out air right in front of the one bed. The pool deck looked like it would be an amazing place to hang out if it were little bit warmer - fire pits & a great view of the mountains at sunset!

Asheville is a favorite getaway for us, and the Aloft is usually our "go to" for overnight accommodations given its location. Our trip last week was our first trip since the pandemic began, and I was hesitant to go to a new city and be out and about. However, after walking into the hotel, I knew I'd be able to relax and enjoy our time away. They now have security measures in place to keep non-hotel guests out (the last time we stayed was in November 2019, so this may have been put in place post-covid). The lobby has been reconfigured to allow for proper social distancing, and I was very impressed to see almost all hotel employees following proper mask protocol. There were signs in place to remind others of social distancing, especially in the elevators, and again, everyone seemed to be respectful of others and follow those guidelines. The lobby bar and the pool had just reopened that week, and it was nice to have a small sense of normalcy.

We live about 3 hours from Asheville and visit about 2-3 times a year and Aloft is our go-to hotel. We love staying here, the parking garage under the hotel makes it super easy to park your car and never worry about it again on your trip. The staff are always friendly and we love that they are pet-friendly. The rooftop patio is a great spot to get a drink from the bar and watch all the downtown hustle and bustle. Everywhere is a short walk from this spot, makes it the perfect place to stay.
The pool can get a bit crowded in the summer months as it isn't that large and during peak season the price gets very high. We are Marriott members and the price is still too high on peak times in my opinion, but this is a tourist town so it is expected to be high. The noise level has never been bad in my opinion here even though you are right outside a busy bar area.

We travel to Asheville frequently since our daughter is in college there and usually stay on Tunnel Road but we thought we would splurge a bit and stay downtown since the dates coincided with our anniversary.

We were really pleased with the hotel. It was very clean and attractive. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom/shower was awesome. The desk staff was really top notch. Garage parking was not expensive and since we were downtown, we just stayed on foot once there. And the location may be the best in the city.

Minor note that doesn’t affect 5 star rating: HVAC in our room (421) was loud and would come out cold for a while before turning to heat, but obviously worked since the room temp was comfortable.

Overall the hotel met if not exceeded expectations. Price was very fair at least on a weekday during the pandemic. I hope to stay there again.
