Detailed Reviews
Spent one March night at the I-shaped Mount-Vue Motel, on Tunnel Road in Asheville, North Carolina. Our king room was more than large enough for two people. It had a (small) tv set, a (huge) refridgerator, a desk and a little table. There's free wi-fi as well. The room was centrally heated but the owners gave us an extra electrical heater, which was convenient as nighttime temperatures were below freezing. The bathroom was a bit on the small side but it was clean and had the most beautiful tiling in it. 55 $ (taxes included) was a fair price for what we got and the people who run the motel are very friendly. As with all good motels, there are chairs outside and The Mount-Vue also has a beautiful old neon sign.
Tunnel Road is one on the main arteries in the beautiful city of Asheville, so there are plenty of places to eat. Moreover, the Mount-Vue is just about 1 mile from downtown.
Spend the night here if you like classic motels, or if you're looking for an affordable, honest place get some sleep.

Absolutely charming. It's a perfect alternative to a pricey hotel if you want basic, clean comfort in a cute vintage room. Only a few minutes from downtown driving (you could walk if you don't mind walking about 1.5 miles one way) and right next door to an authentic Mexican restaurant and an Ingles. Four of us stayed in a double room and were very comfortable. It includes a big flat screen TV, microwave and mini fridge, plus cable. I would recommend bringing your own soap and shampoo, but I normally do that anyway. We won't hesitate to stay again next time.

Looking for some place that would be cheap for one night. This one was away from everything but the price was right. Room was clean but air conditioner had a hard time keeping up. Staff was very friendly and even offered towels for cleaning motorcycle.
Came back to room after dark and all lights were off at the hotel, not even their street sign or parking lot lights were on.

Very nice room (clean and quiet), great rate, and friendly owner.
This was a welcomed oasis after a long day of traveling and after touring the Biltmore Estate and winery.
Convenient near the tunnel and Cracker Barrel.
My wife and I really liked our stay here.

Basic hardly covers this little motel. There is nothing offered except the minimum requirements. When we asked for an extra towel there was mild resistance. The owners are spending a dollars worth of good will to save a nickle cash. The room was clean but very dated. Nothing particularly wrong but it was not welcoming.

Room Tip: To get a good room I would go to another motel.

My fiancé and I checked in for a night. We were there a few hours. He went to the Ingles next door and came back. He went out with a friend and when they brought him back they asked if they could use the restroom real quick. Almost immediately the manger came pounding on our door. “No guests”. “She’s just using the bathroom.” “No guests, get her out of there or I’ll call the cops” “okay”. Ushered the friend out the there. Not 5 minutes later the manager bangs on the door again “No guests” There isn’t anyone in the room except us. We offered to let him look around. He said he had cameras and we had had 3 guests, different people driving up and dropping us off. He said he was going to call the cops if we left the room again.
We gathered up our stuff and checked out. Wouldn’t give us a refund, because we *had* stayed in the room. After about 10 minutes of trying to make ourselves understood (manager has a heavy accent and doesn’t hear well) we were able to get a 50% refund for the 2.5-3 hours we stayed in the room and were harassed by management.
When I stay at a hotel or motel, I don’t need to have management looking over my shoulder. I work breakfast and have to leave early morning because of that. I felt like I would have gotten in trouble for my “hours”. Nothing when I checked in said I had to be in the room the entire time I had rented it for. I don’t appreciate being yelled at for something I didn’t do. The manager called us liars and said he knew how “Americans were”. We will never go near this place again. I wouldn’t stay a night in this place if I was paid a million dollars.

No shampoo, just soap. Smallest towels ever. Rickety window unit AC. And you know what, we loved it. If you want to spend a lot of time hanging out in your room, this is not for you. If you want a very clean place to sleep w a fridge, microwave and firm bed while you explore Asheville and the surrounding mountains, this place offers great value. About a one-mile walk from the restaurants and nightlife, this place was about a third the price of anything we could find in the heart of downtown. They don't take reservations, which is weird, but it's worth gambling a little bit and checking in with them when you hit town. We arrived at 5pm and the place was completely vacant, but by 11pm it had mostly filled up.

Lets just get it out of the way. It's old, it's sparse, and there are no frills.
What it does have is everything you need if you are looking for a place to sleep. The beds are extremely comfortable, the rooms have chairs and tables, you have a refrigerator, a microwave and a perfectly clean bathroom. The shower had the most pressure thane by shower I can remember in years!
At check-in, the owners met us at the door, answered any questions and sent us on our way. They would go out of the way to do anything for you. It's a 2 person operation there.. you need a towel? Yes, they'll get you one, but it might need to be washed first, but they'll get you one.
In a city that is building new hotels on a weekly basis, with rooms averaging $200+ a night, this is the perfect option if you just need a place to sleep.
The hotel is minutes from anywhere in town, and easy to find. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Stayed here on a recent trip, drove in on Friday morning, everywhere else was too overpriced, bargain for around $60. Clean, no soap or anything, but for the price you can go to a CVS/rite aid on the street for a couple of bucks. Place is very old school, super close to downtown, and too cool!
