This B&B was a wonderful stay. My partner and I booked it for a short weekend with my dog, and this location brought so much quality to our stay. Willy and Shawnie were wonderful and caring hosts. They helped us out multiple times and even gave us some great places to check out while we were visiting Asheville. Location was also nice, being near to a lot of fun and interesting hikes and restaurants to enjoy good food.

The breakfast is truly a breakfast and not just a typical "continental breakfast" at a hotel with a sad bagel and some fruit; both mornings during our stay were accompanied by a breakfast consisting of 3 different parts that all seem to have effort and consideration put into them. They even thought far enough to add some doggie biscuits for my dog to not feel left out! Additionally, every evening that we stayed, there was a "happy hour," with Saturday featuring some live music from a local folk music band that was entertaining.

The room was also very comfortable and offered some amazing amenities, including multiple single-use items like hair ties and bands, in case you forget. My room, being dog-friendly, even had a little doggie bed and some water/food dishes. They also have some very fluffy and comfortable robes hanging up for you and plenty of towels.

I believe it is not genuine feedback if I don't try to find SOMETHING on which to provide constructive criticism. I think the courtyards attached to the back of the carriage house could have used some form of bug repellant (citronella candles, flowers, or something similar). I think I walked away from that weekend with nothing short of about 15-20 mosquito bites, and a lot of them came from that first morning during breakfast.

Do not let this last part detract from the quality of this location. I still give it a wholehearted 5/5 and will certainly return the next time I travel to Asheville.

We're glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us at 1900 Inn on Montford and that our William Morris Suite worked out for you all! It's located on the ground floor of the carriage house behind the Inn and has a private entrance and enclosed rear garden with table and chairs. The back garden is a great place to enjoy the outside and a perfect setting to enjoy your breakfast. We love it when our guests travel with their pups, and yours was a perfect guest! Having amenities for our canine guests (like a bed and bowls and morning treats) is an important detail of a stay with us at the inn. Thank you for mentioning our 3-course breakfasts! Our carriage house guests can opt to have it delivered to the suite or to come and be served on the porch in nice weather or in the dining room. We stock bug repellent in the main house for our guests on the front porch who might need it throughout the day. We're grateful for your feedback and have not stocked bug repellent to the suites for our guests staying their to utilize. Thank you for letting us know! We strive to be better and better with each guest's experience. We're happy that your stay coincided with our Saturday Bluegrass Social Hour! We think it's a fun way for us to introduce our guests to a little local talent and is a great way to start off your Saturday evening. Thank you again for choosing our B&B for your long weekend getaway. We hope that we'll have the chance to see you all again soon! The Team at 1900 Inn on Montford

My husband and I and small dog just came back from Asheville after a few days getaway for an early 50th anniversary celebration. I came across the 1900 Inn on Montford randomly. So happy I did. We stayed in the Rosetti which is a carriage house behind the main house. It was perfect for us. Warm and cozy — king bed so comfortable, fireplace and jacuzzi. Private, no stairs, parking in lot. Best of all, Willy & Shawnie the innkeepers. They go above and beyond. Like they say “come as guests go home as friends. From the delicious home cooked 3 course creative breakfasts, to the yummy homemade cookies, coffee, tea, and cold beverages always available to their kindness and friendly conversation and suggestions on restaurants they are the best. They even walked our dog for us!! We arrived to flowers, chocolate and Processo for our anniversary. Location is perfect in a residential area and we walked to a neighborhood restaurant the first night for dinner. We highly recommend the 1900 Inn on Montford. We enjoyed our stay and are sure you will too.

Thank you for your stay with us at 1900 Inn on Montford to celebrate your 50th wedding anniversary! We're really honored to have had the chance to celebrate such a terrific milestone with you at the B&B. We enjoyed hosting your stay and the perk of getting the chance to spend some time with Chelsea so that you could fully enjoy your time at the Biltmore was our pleasure. Traveling with a pup sometimes takes a little more creativity, and we're so glad that we could assist! We're happy to hear that our Rossetti Suite in our carriage house at the inn was to your liking! Rossetti is a great choice for guests traveling with their dogs, since as you mentioned, the suite is located on the ground floor of the carriage house which is steps away from the main house at the inn and additionally, it has a private entrance and enclosed rear garden with table and chairs. Perfect for having your breakfast delivered to the suite or just relaxing in the garden during the warmer months! Thank you for mentioning so many of the things that we get to do everyday: create and serve our 3-course breakfasts, Shawnie's cookies, make recommendations to help you have the best stay, and share our home and town with our guests. Providing our own brand of intentional attention to our guests is all a part of our focus on service and our guests' experience. Thank you for finding us and making 1900 Inn on Montford your Asheville destination! We hope to see you all again soon! The Team at 1900 Inn on Montford

This is one of the best B&Bs we have ever stayed in our travels so far (and we travel frequently). Located in Asheville's historic Montford district, only a short distance from Asheville's downtown, this place is a true gem. The 1900 house has been beautifully kept in a state that rivals modern houses, with beautiful rooms, bathrooms, kitchen, dining room and living room. For those who love living in houses from that era, this is a place to visit and stay. The neighborhood is excellent with houses from that era as well giving you the feeling of living in a different time. The owners, Shawnie and Willy, provide their guests outstanding hospitality, genuinely concerned about you and generously providing information and tips on where to go and what to do. The breakfast is excellent and a great feature of this place. If you like to visit Asheville and live as locals do for a few days, this is a place to be. Kudos to Shawnie and Willy for their great hospitality and care.

Thank you for your stay with us at 1900 Inn on Montford! We love hosting frequent travelers like yourselves and getting to share our historic home with you for your stay! Our house was designed and built by Richard Sharp Smith, the Supervising Architect at the Biltmore Estate. We're grateful that he fell in love with Asheville and decided to stay after the Biltmore's completion. He was in high demand afterward and you can see many of the houses that he designed within walking distance from the inn. You picked a terrific guest room in our O'Henry Room in the Main House of the inn. It is outfitted with wonderful amenities such as a king sized bed made up with luxurious bed linens, a gas fireplace, and a recently updated en suite bath. Some of the charm of the room comes from the original details like the private bookcase/library and the original medicine cabinet. We're glad that you enjoyed our home and our neighborhood: the Montford Historic District. We, too, love walking in the neighborhood and into town and seeing all of the beautiful architecture from the past. Thank you again, for your stay. We're looking forward to hosting you again and hope it's soon! The Team at 1900 Inn on Montford

I give this place 4 paws up. I’d give it more but I’m out of paws. My pawents decided to take me on vacation with them, and although it was hot outside the cool floor in the room was perfect, there’s a communal dog water bowl for when I was parched after walks, and my room came ready with a leash, dog towels, dog bowls, a fluffy bed and every morning Shawnie gave me fresh homemade dog treats! Now that’s what I call service. If you’re a well behaved doggo you can even attend music on the porch, what a treat! I made a new friend while I was there another chocolate lab named Clementine who lives on property and is super friendly to play with.
Willy gave my pawents great guidance on some trails that had water and the best places to stop for pup cups after. As well as a great bath recommendation called Bath + Bones where I got cleaned up before heading out to dinner in downtown Asheville!
Asheville is a super pupper friendly place so my mom took me out while she went shopping and for dinner.
Highly ruffamend this place. My pawents already scheduled their next visit back to the inn!

Hatcher, we enjoyed hosting your stay! From all of us at 1900 Inn on Montford, including Clementine of course, you are welcome back anytime! We're glad that your parents included you in their travels. We love it when our guests travel with their canine family members, and you were a perfect guest! We're happy that our William Morris Suite worked well for you all! The suite is one of our pet friendly accommodations, and is located in the carriage house on the property - just steps away from the main house of the inn. It has cool tile floors and a private outdoor space with a table and chairs which is enclosed and perfect for guests traveling with their pups. Shawnie is happy that you enjoyed your treats, baked especially for you, since the other guests all get to enjoy home made cookies we could not leave you out! Clementine says that you are one of her favorite guests and you are welcome back any time. We all hope that you enjoyed your stay at 1900 Inn on Montford and in Asheville so much that it becomes your favorite destination. Our favorite place to stay in Asheville! The location is perfect - you are in a beautiful historic district, you have free parking, and you are only a 12 minute walk to downtown. We stayed in the carriage house with our dog for Labor Day weekend. The room was beautiful with fluffy robes, a king sized bed, and a huge walk in shower. We didn't even have time to use the jacuzzi tub! We enjoyed eating our delicious three course breakfast in our private garden area, and there were always plenty of cookies, coffee, and other drinks in the main house. This is such a relaxing retreat, you almost feel badly leaving the room to go explore Asheville. The hosts are so welcoming and go out of their way to make you feel well cared for and at home. 5 stars and well worth the price. We can't wait to come back.

It's always fun for us to have repeat guests (alumni!) return to 1900 Inn on Montford return for a stay at the inn! Thank you for your Labor Day weekend visit! We're glad that you enjoyed your time here and are so happy that you brought Bella along! We love getting the chance to spoil her too! It's great to hear that you enjoyed so many things about your visit! Our William Morris Suite is located in the carriage house at the back of the property, just steps from the main house of the inn. The suite has a terrific enclosed garden space for the pups and a table and chairs for the people to enjoy their breakfasts, read a book, or just enjoy the quiet sounds of nature. Our historic home is located in the Montford Historic District, which is a short walk from downtown but loaded with mature trees and lots of birds and chipmunks and squirrels. Sitting in your private garden you'd never think we were that close to the hustle and bustle of downtown Asheville! We're honored to be your destination for a retreat in Asheville and truly hope to see you all again soon. Thanks again, so much, for your stay! The Team at 1900 Inn on Montford

From the moment we turned off Montford Ave onto the long, gravel driveway on the side of the inn, we felt as though we were home and a welcoming cup of tea or coffee might just be waiting. As we toured the various main floor rooms, we noticed that the dining table was already set for tomorrow morning's breakfast, which was not to be missed. The Grubers delight in varying their delicious breakfast offerings. It is a rare person who will be disappointed or leave the table hungry. We found our upstairs room comfortably furnished and the bathroom modernized. Surrounded by books, it was a great place to think, read and write. We were particularly pleased that we delayed our Saturday evening dinner reservation in order to have a glass of wine with other guests and listen to spirited blue-grass music by talented local musicians.

It seems like our O'Henry Room and your stay were meant to be! We're glad that you found a space to read, think and write. It's a terrific retreat, named after the famous local author and includes an ever-changing private bookshelf as well as a luxuriously tiled, walk-in spa shower that we like to say will make you feel relaxed from head to toe. It's a perfect place to rest and recharge. Thank you for choosing this guest room at 1900 Inn on Montford for your stay! Beautiful home inside and out, and in a great quiet neighborhood. When we walked in they knew who we were and showed us around before taking us to our room. It felt more like coming to a friend’s or relative’s house than a hotel - very inviting. O’Henry suite was just right and cozy with a fireplace, sitting area, and comfy King bed with great sheets. Bathroom in our suite was recently renovated with an amazing shower and had fresh flowers in a vase on the large vanity. Snacks, coffee, and drinks were available downstairs and a fridge with waters in our room made sure we were never wanting. Coffee machines were so cool and could make anything! The macchiato was great and was paired with some extravagant breakfasts from the hosts. All of this made for a great start and end to our days.

The surprise Prosecco, chocolates, and fresh flowers for our anniversary when we walked in the room made it truly over-the-top.

When we left to another hotel halfway through our trip, we were wishing we could stay longer!

This was such a lovely stay. The hosts truly care about this B&B and you can tell with the attention to detail. Their breakfasts are served on a cute tray with matching cloth napkins and ring holder; they have a complimentary espresso/tea/beverage area with cookies available 24/7; there are fireplaces in the rooms (not sure if all rooms have them) and towel warming racks and bath salts. This place was so cozy and comfy and CLEAN! I will definitely be back.

Thank you for your stay with us in our Rossetti Suite at 1900 Inn on Montford! We loved hosting you two and are so glad that you brought your pup Axel along too. We enjoyed having the chance to spoil you all with cookies (people and dog variety!). Bringing breakfast over to you at the carriage house meant that you could ease into your morning and enjoy the suite. Rossetti is a popular choice with our guests, with or without dogs traveling with them, and is comprised of 450 sq ft of pet-friendly accommodation located on the ground floor of the carriage house behind the main house. It has a private entrance and guests enjoy the enclosed rear garden with table and chairs during the warmer months in Asheville. It has a king sized bed and even has a "doggie trundle bed" too! The suite is made for comfort and has leather club chairs, a fireplace, and a luxurious bath with a multi-jet two-person Whirlpool with shiatsu massage and airbath as well as a steam shower with multiple body jets and steam bath. We're happy that you found the inn cozy, comfy and clean. We love achieving all of the C's! Thanks again for your stay. We look forward to your return stay with us! The Team at 1900 Inn on Montford

I honestly don't know where to begin. Shawnie and Willy have a remarkably beautiful Inn that is only matched by their exception hospitality. The rooms are large and comfortable, and you could justify your trip by simply to spending a weekend in the luxurious bathrooms! Let's not forget the exceptional breakfast in the morning (on the porch, if the weather is good), and of course, live local music on the porch with a libation of your choice. If you feel you have to leave the house for any reason (yes, there are lots of great things to do in Asheville), you can literally walk to great restaurants, brew pubs, and entertainment venues. How much better can it possibly get?

Thank you for spending a terrific weekend with us at 1900 Inn on Montford! It was a great weekend with a great group of guests, for sure. We're glad that you enjoyed your stay with us and that our Edith Wharton Room was to your liking! Wharton is such a cozy choice, with a recently updated bath which includes nods to the historical nature of our home. From the tiled shower with decorative inset to the soothing rain shower, we can understand that you'd want to take a few extra minutes getting ready! Thanks for making mention of our large front porch, where breakfasts are served in the warm months, music is played by the Cat Dragons on Saturday nights, and guests can be found relaxing or reading or napping. There's something wonderful about our porch...it draws you in to linger for a bit! Our neighborhood, the Montford Historic District is great for people watching and you might even see a bunny romping around on the front lawn of the inn. As you noted, we are within walking distance of Nine Mile, Tall John's and All Day Darling eateries and just a little farther walk gets you in the heart of downtown Asheville. Thank you again for your stay! We look forward to hosting you again soon! The Team at 1900 Inn on Montford

This is our second time staying here and definitely not the last! Willie and Shawnie are incredible hosts. Their concierge, Jennifer, is amazing as well. The Inn is beautiful and every guest that comes is treated so well. The breakfasts are truly phenomenal. We make sure to eat dinner earlier the night before so we can indulge in the breakfast the next morning. We stayed in the Cloisters and every morning breakfast could either be delivered or we could eat at the house. We were being lazy because the accommodations are so enjoyable, we didn't want to get up early. The beds are comfortable and the room has dishes and a microwave and a smaller refrigertor that we could just relax and enjoy some quiet time. We brought our dog with us for the second time, and enjoyed walking her in the park across the street and wandering the neighborhoods. It was unreasonably warm so we enjoyed sitting on the front porch of the main house and just truly relaxing. The live music on Saturday night was so fun! Willie, Shawnee, and Jennifer are excellent at making people feel welcome and truly relaxed. The coffee, and tea, and beverages, and cookies available in the house are available all day and those cookies are just the best! I have very different and difficult food allergies and Shawnie made sure there was nothing in our breakfast that I couldn't have. Jennifer made sure I knew which cookies I could have. Their attention to my very exasperating food allergies gave me a sense of peace and comfort. I didn't feel like I was missing out at all with the attention they gave me.
This is one of the best, most comfortable places we've stayed at. Our adult daughter came with us on this trip and she loved it.
The Inn is a true gem that is beyond worth it. I could just stay at the Inn, do nothing else, and have an excellent vacation. Already booked our next visit!

Thank you for choosing our Cloisters Suite at 1900 Inn on Montford for your return stay with us! The Cloisters Suite is a great choice for guests traveling with their pup or who just want a little more room and privacy. Cloisters is comfortable and spacious without sacrificing coziness! The suite has its own outside area too! Our goal for your time with us is absolute relaxation and to feel like you're at your home away from home. It was such terrific luck that the weather was warm enough for you to enjoy the porch during your stay! What a treat!
