Cannot beat being right in the middle of Boston. Quick walk to a T station and easy access to Boston sights. Hotel is clean and well kept for such an old building. No food or drink options in the hotel and valet parking is very expensive (on the weekend, free on-street parking can be found on West Newton St a few blocks away, but watch the signs!). I did get a knock on my door on check out day at 10:59 am telling me I was holding up the housekeeping staff, which I found a bit much. Check out is 11 am but a few minutes grace would have been appreciated.
Lovely secret in the heart of Boston! A flare of old European 1960's style blended with the fluffiest, softest and cleanest of sheets. Not a big room, but cozy. Not the latest furnishings, but classy. Very refreshing after the grey colours of Four Seasons and all the hotel chains. Would have been lovely to have a cafe and a restaurant in the same building.
We got a lot for the price, such as: - A big room plus bathroom - An enormous soft king-sized bed - A large fridge in the room - Great location - Early check-in - Nice staff - Beautiful entrance hallway - The room looked somewhat recently refurbished Only minus I found was that the floor was skewed, but my bf did not care.
Loved the old turn of the (20th) century vibe. Comfy room. Good location. Easy 15- 20 min walk to Fenway. Some chill restaurants and bars are within a few blocks. Staff was friendly, too. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again.
NOT 4 stars, the good: the room was clean and updated, close proximity to Copley Mall is nice. The bad: only parking options are an expensive parking garage across the street or even more expensive valet at the hotel, there is no restaurant or food of any kind at the hotel, the staff is unkempt, the staff uniform is a sloppy t-shirt, the uniform reflects the attitude. There is clearly no customer service training of any of the staff. They are not only completely indifferent, they come off as rude. True of All 5 of them we met except one young man at the front. The young valet drivers smelled very strongly of marijuana, as they drive your car to parts unknown. This is comforting…the room was tiny, that’s fine, but the bathroom design is awful. There is no curtain on the shower and the design of the half glass causes you to have to get in the shower to turn it on in the freezing cold until the hot water comes on. Also no shelf in the shower for toiletries. You have to put everything you use on the shower floor. There is a n extremely minimal community kitchen which has nothing in it, where you can make a coffee or warm up leftovers. There were definitely members of the community in there for sure. Ones that I suspect live there on a permanent basis instead of in the park….I think you can catch my drift. I would never go back and I’m not picky.…
My room was small but cozy. Mattress too soft for my taste but I did not mind that much. I wish I could have a confortable chair in stead of being on the bed all the time. Very clean, nice decor… But staff at check in not super friendly. Chewing gum I could see the collie of it and texting and not minding I was there… The location was perfect
Went to Boston for a conference and this hotel was amazing. It has a great location, close enough to busy streets and restaurants, but on a quiet block. Checking in was quick and efficient, the staff were wonderful and I had an overall great experience.
We enjoyed a lovely Christmas Day stay in the spacious king corner suite. The bed was extremely comfortable, the amenities top notch, the refrigerator very handy. The location worked well for our delicious dinner at Abe and Louie's.
The hotel location is excellent. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The room (double double) was big enough and had everything I needed including a new and good refrigerator, good tv with all the needed channels, good Wifi and comfortable beds. Housekeeping could have been better, but any issues were quickly resolved to our satisfaction. Definitely a hotel I will consider returning to when visiting Boston.
We had the most beautiful room, # 716. King size bed, huge, beautiful bay window, and a walk-in closet. Crown molding and filigree around the ceiling light. Even the refrigerator looked older to fit with the esthetic. Comfortable bed with huge pillows. I love historic hotels. The location was close to shopping, restaurants, and sightseeing. Close to Beacon Hill area also. I would definitely stay here again.
