Nestled in the heart of Boston, the Fairmont Copley Plaza garners admiration for its prime location and elegant atmosphere, with historical charm that many guests find luxurious. The service is frequently commended for its attentiveness, though there have been occasional lapses. While travelers appreciate the lavish amenities like the Gold floor and Oak bar, some suggest the need for modernization.
Room experiences vary with comfort praised but updates desired. Cleanliness is generally upheld, but housekeeping has room for improvement. Despite its allure, reviewers warn of high costs and question the value.

This was my second time in the last month staying@the Fairmont Copley plaza. First off the staff are all amazing, they are all very friendly, warm&professional, they make you feel so welcome which is highly appreciated! The lobby is absolutely beautiful with old school charm, the architecture is stunning. The restaurant is delicious both breakfast and dinner are fantastic. The bar is lively and vibrant with a fantastic crowd and the bar staff is amazing.
The beds are comfortable, both times I’ve stayed I was upgraded to a bigger room as an Amex perk so the rooms I’ve stayed in were both huge with king beds and a lot of space, yet feel very cozy with big closets and nice clean bathrooms.
The best part about this hotel is they love dogs,I bring my service dog with me but for a small fee you can bring your dog and they have the sweetest black lab named Cory that is a hotel resident. You can not beat the location,it’s the absolute best in Boston. You can walk everywhere or just hop on the Orange or green line which are so easy.
I highly recommend this hotel. The staff are the best in the hotel business, all of the bellmen etc.are old school gentlemen. Pure class!

I stayed while attending a conference, and brought my husband and baby along. It was easy to get in and out of the hotel with a stroller and luggage. Despite the busy location, our Uber driver was able to drop us off comfortably outside the front doors.
The room was cozy and a crib was waiting for us when we entered. The beds are comfortable and the space was clean. Housekeeping is non-invasive and they will clean the room around your schedule. I docked one point for service but added it back, as there was no refrigerator in the room which made a stay with a baby slightly more difficult but we were able to get one upon request.
One point is being removed for the rooms due to the walls being incredibly thin and being able to hear voices and other sounds clearly from the hallway, as if they were in the room with us. There is little than can be done about that, but I was often afraid the baby would wake up when people were chatting in the halls at night on their way out.
The location is close to all of the sites and restaurants we'd hoped to visit during our stay. It is within walking distance of the Prudential Center where there is a 360 observation deck and restaurant, connected to the shopping mall and market. Restaurants in the area include Afghan/Albanian, Latin American, Mediterranean, Italian, typical American fare, North African, Thai, and much more.

My colleague and I have been staying at Fairmont every year when we attend the Harvard Medical School conference. We needed to arrive earlier than usual due to the upcoming snow storm last week. We were welcomed and were able to check into a very comfortable room right away, which we appreciated very much after the stressful drive through Berkshire mountains. The facility is always beautiful and clean. Staff are friendly and helpful. The location cannot be better. In sum, A+! We’ll be coming back to stay At Fairmont Copley Plaza!!

I will start this by saying that I had an amazing stay at Fairmont Montreux last year and was hoping for the same experience when I arrived in Boston. I was greeted kindly and while the room wasn’t ready yet as it was about an hour early, I decided to go return my rental car early. At check-in people were kind and I loved meeting Cori which was honestly the best part of the whole stay. Upon arriving to my room, after requesting a view, I was given a very dark room in a corner that faced inwards! I immediately called down and they said they would have to look into moving me. The fact that they have this room at all is a downfall, so please beware! They do allow dogs though so perhaps this room might be good for those wish for quiet and darkness, but I definitely was not. Thankfully they found me a room on a low floor that could at least face the side street with construction. I was appreciative of the light it let in. Overall though the stay was not a good experience and if it hadn’t been for the kind bell boys and the housekeeper I met on Day 3, I would’ve given it 0 stars. Do NOT waste your money here, PLEASE stay elsewhere. The only reason to stay here is if this would be the only place that would take your dog and you can’t stay elsewhere, or need the big room for your dog. (I was not traveling with my dog.) Rooms are definitely large, oversized actually for those in need. The one thing I most requested 2 days before arriving was no scents in my room and unscented everything as I have allergies to many. While the room wasn’t sprayed with a scent, they were unable to provide me any hand soap that was unscented. Since I was tired I went down to the restaurant for dinner. Bread was delicious! I asked multiple times for unscented soap for my room as it was late and they were unable to bring me any so I finally fell asleep and went out to buy myself some the next day. The room was in need of refurbished furniture, a window in the bathroom that opens as there was no fan, and maybe some paint refresh as well. I order room service for breakfast each day I was there and each day was a disappointment with the exception of the muffins. Bagel was hard I couldn’t chew it, eggs didn’t taste good, toast came like the bagel did. While the setup was pretty, I would’ve eaten out each day if not trying to save time while getting ready. This was not worth the money at all and am very disappointed. Again, please stay elsewhere.

Entering into the hotel would make you feel like royalty, mainly because of the amazing and beautiful architecture and art everywhere. However, once you get into your room, you realize it was all a sham. There was no fridge, no microwave, and nothing cool in the hotel, for example, a pool or park or something. The only neat commodity was the gym, and that wasn’t even that well focused on lifting, mainly cardio machines. To top everything off, there was no free breakfast, and all the prices for all the food was way too high. This type of establishment is clearly catered to privileged folk who could care less about how much money they spend and who can flail their credit card around like a baby holding keys. Also, some of the room cards just completely stopped working after only a day and a half of usage. Plus it is an extremely inconvenient system to have the elevators work only if you have a room card on you. To me this system makes no sense because if it was done to stop unwanted visitors, then there should be no easy stair access, but there is. Basically this way of using the card elevator was completely unwarranted and totally negative; zero positive out that decision. To top everything off, finding out that the fairmont copley company doesn’t pay their workers is just a cheery on top and makes me view this company in an even worse light than what my own experience gave me. Other than that however, I thoroughly enjoyed the art and architecture everywhere, as I’m someone who is greatly fascinated by art, but also someone who hates the american lifestyle of wasting money, which this hotel very much exemplifies.

You can't beat the location here for exploring downtown Boston, and the building is grand and beautiful with nice lobbies and spaces. Our room was pleasant and well-appointed. A clean hotel room is my main priority, and here the bathroom was clean, except for the two visibly dirty (once they were unfolded) towels folded up on the towel shelf. This was a jarring experience, but I called the desk and new clean set was brought quickly. Everything else seemed clean, the bed was clean and comfortable. I did notice some faded scuff and other marks on the walls, maybe just unavoidable wear and tear. The staff was mostly all very responsive and professional. We paid for Gold level access to the lounge. The lounge was very nice, the food good. The wine in the lounge was overpriced in my opinion at $15 for a glass. We had dinner one night in the OAK restaurant, which was great. The dining room, the food, seeing the people pass by on the sidewalks of Boston out the window, etc., etc. made for a nice meal. And it was the best lobster roll we had on our trip. The hotel valet parking was expensive at about $70 per night, but maybe that's the going rate in Boston. Also all the added fees and taxes (including one absurd "fee tax" on top of an added fee) really added to the final bill, so take that into account when you book a room. Still, I would stay here again for all the good things about it and for the grand, old-school experience.

Thank you so much for sharing your detailed review, MeredithinPhilly. We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed our prime downtown location, grand spaces, and that your guest room met your expectations for comfort and cleanliness. We do, however, deeply regret the oversight with the towels and truly appreciate your patience as we worked to resolve the issue quickly. We are glad you found the rest of your stay comfortable and clean. It's great to hear that you had such a memorable experience at OAK Long Bar + Kitchen, and we're thrilled to know our lobster roll was a highlight of your trip! It was a pleasure having you as our guest and we hope for another opportunity to welcome you back in the future.

I don't believe I have ever left a negative review for a hotel and it surprises me that my first one is for a Fairmont-brand property. Before checking in, the hotel peppered me with questions and information about the property. Would I like a bathrobe and slippers? A mini-fridge? Maybe a roll-away bed? All well and good except that they OMITTED A KEY PIECE OF INFORMATION... the hotel was in a labor dispute and the employees were preparing to go on strike!
This meant that guests had to cross the picket line whenever stepping foot outside the hotel. This is a thoroughly uncomfortable experience--staff who helped you around the hotel the day before were now urging you to check out.
I apologize to the workers that I prioritized our convenience over their plight. I should have checked my family out right away instead of continuing to stay at the Fairmont.
Inside the hotel, management were utterly unprepared for the expected, literally running around like they had their heads cut off. Guests received a letter the morning the strike began stating that a grab-and-go breakfast would be available starting at 6:30 am. The doors to the restaurant were locked at 6:30. Nothing was available more than an hour later at 7:45. The letter said that housekeeping services would be available by request... except that there was no one to answer requests.
To add insult to injury, I booked a package that included breakfast. When I checked out, they tried to charge me for the breakfast my family had on the first day (before the strike) and I had to wait 15 minutes for manager approval to honor the free breakfast. When I mentioned that I obviously did not receive free breakfast on the other days of my stay, I did not receive an apology (let alone compensation), only a smirk from the befuddled attendant.
As for the room itself, I would say it was slightly below average for a historic hotel. While things like doors that stick can be chalked up to the age of the building, peeling paint, stains on the wallpaper and a musty smell in the hallways were signs of deferred maintenance. I could not detect any significant improvements since my last visit over 5 years ago.

More an institution than a mere hotel, the Fairmont Copley Plaza maintains its beautiful historic rooms and facilities to the highest of standards and we stay here on our business visit to Boston every December. This year I arrived without luggage thanks to a glitch in the airline's systems, and the Fairmont team did everything they could to assist, from finding me a spare charger for my laptop to keeping a weather eye out for my luggage. A shout out goes to concierge Joe for his empathetic assistance and to Sales Coordinator Samantha for taking such good care of us both before our arrival and during our short stay.

The Fairmont Copley Plaza, Boston staff provided excellent service from our front door arrival, in the Oak bar, and especially on the Gold Floor. Everyone was always ready to help with questions or recommendations to make our stay enjoyable.
The Oak bar was a wonderful place for a cocktail and a variety of food choices. The servers had great recommendations for food and cocktails that met our taste.
The location of Fairmont Copley Plaza is easy walking to Restaurants, Shopping, Museums and the Boston Common Gardens. Taxis and Uber are readily accessible from the hotel to other historic attractions and harbor areas.
The Gold Floor is highly recommended for the wonderful service provided by the Gold Floor team, the great food offered in the Gold Floor lounge and the well appointed rooms, especially a room overlooking Copley Square which was quiet and had a great view. Great Customer Service!

We had a fabulous stay here. The location was excellent as we could walk to many cafe’s and restaurants to get snacks and meals. The train stations were also very close by when we wanted to go somewhere too far to walk to (e.g. Fenway, seaport, and Foxboro) our room was cleaned daily which was so nice and the marble bathroom was gorgeous! We only got to see Cori (the hotel dog) 1 of the 4 days we were there but I’m so glad we did get to meet her! Service was excellent as anytime I called to request ice or wine glasses, they were delivered to our room promptly.
