We live in Maine and needed a place to stay while my 16 year old brother was undergoing three days of treatment at Mass General Hospital. Although we have several family members in MA that we could have stayed with, it would have been a huge hassle to drive back and forth to Boston. I checked Mass General's web site... More

We enjoyed our stay in Boston so much because we were in a perfect location. We walked out of our hotel room in the morning right on to Charles St. A few steps away is a great little place, Panifico, for coffee and a light breakfast. A short walk away is Boston Common and Boston Garden. We had easy access... More

This lovely B&B is both comfortable and reasonably priced. It is near some of the best sights in the Boston area. It is close to a railway station and only a few stops from Harvard Square. Book levels 2 and up (there is an elevator) because lower floors tend to be noisy and upper levels are very quiet. Rooms are... More

JJH is the perfect choice for travelers who want to be in the heart of Boston without having a heart attack over high hotel rates! The inn is on a busy corner, but it's a half-block walk to charming Charles St. and the foot of Beacon Hill. There is a post office, dry cleaner, and grocery within an easy two... More

We planned a long weekend to Boston and NYC and I needed to find a hotel for the Boston part of our trip. Room rates were crazy expensive for anything in the heart of the city. I somehow stumbled upon this hotel online and picked it because the location looked great and it was considerably less expensive than anything (anything!)... More

We stayed one night at this B&B the night before disembarking on a Boston to Bermuda cruise on the NCL Dawn. The hotel was close to Beacon Hill and within walking distance of Boston Common and the State Capitol Building. The room we had was on the second floor (via a small elevator); however there were about 6-10 steps from... More

We have just come back from a trip to Boston and New England and the last three nights were spent at the John Jefferies. I was very pleasantly impressed with this nice, clean, hotel. The room was not big but we had a kitchette (seperate). There is a very nice complimentary breakfast of juice, coffee, tea and deliciously fresh pastries.... More

In October 2011 we stayed twice at the John Jeffries House. Both times for two nights. It was a good alternative to all the overexpensive hotels in Boston. The location right in Beacon Hill is perfect. A subway station is just a few footsteps away. Logan International can be easily reached by public transportation. (A cab from the airport costs... Although this is classified as a bed and breakfast it is actully a smaller scale hotel that offers a continental breakfast in the lobby floor common area. If you are looking for a romantic atmosphere with all of the comforts of home I'd say look elswhere. But if you want a clean, affordably priced room sans the bells and whistles... More

Beacon Hill
Visit this historic and ritzy Boston neighborhood to soak up its classic New England charm as you stroll down cobblestoned, gas-lamp lined streets. Bring your walking shoes, camera, and select a nice day to wander through the hilly neighborhood and check out its exclusive addresses. Louisburg Square, Mt. Vernon street, Chestnut street and the extremely narrow and widely photographed Acorn street make a nice walking path. Make sure to meander down Charles street to poke into boutiques and antique shops, cafes, and restaurants on this quaint shopping street.
