Nestled on the Boston Waterfront, the Battery Wharf Hotel garners mixed reviews for its service, with commendations for staff friendliness tempered by critiques of professionalism and efficiency. While its location is frequently lauded for proximity to attractions, the hotel's value proposition is questioned, with guests pointing out overpriced services and hidden fees. Cleanliness generally receives praise, yet some areas reportedly require better upkeep. The ambiance and room aesthetics are considered dated by many, and the amenities are often seen as lacking in both variety and modernity.

I had a great stay at the Battery Wharf Hotel. This is my first time staying in the Northend area, and the Battery Wharf is in a more residential area, so I was not sure what to expect. Had a fantastic stay, the room was very spacious, bed comfortable, great TV and reclining leather chair in my room — updated bathrooms. To my delight, you can use Exhale Spa facilities, which included a full gym (Peleton bikes too), a sauna, and a relaxation room in the spa section. Property is walking distance to the Northend, where there is no shortage of restaurant choices. I had a fantastic meal at Carmilina's, Spaghetti with Littleneck Clams best I've ever had and then went to Modern for authentic Italian desserts. The hotel offers complimentary shoeshine service, which I took advantage of and found the location to be very peaceful and right on the water. Unique Boston stays that I highly recommend.

Everything was great despite the COVID regulations... When we go back we would love a view of the water from the room. When checking in I feel guests should be told where they can get food from within the area since most of the amenities are not allowed, and we were not told where the vending machines or ice makers were located... I was also surprised our room did not have a “sealed” sticker on the door to let us know the room had been cleaned and sterilized...

The Battery Wharf Hotel reopened August 1. The staff called prior to our arrival to let us know the restaurant and spa would be closed, and that the doors were locked from 11 pm to 7 am every night - which was fine with us. Everyone there was very hospitable and accommodating, especially Kyle, as we asked to check in early and then needed a fridge and coffeemaker sent up when we arrived. Our Waterfront View King room was spacious and immaculate and had a fantastic view - although we were so close to the Coast Guard ship that we could hear their PA system barking orders in the morning! (My partner loved this and it didn't bother me, but just be aware this may be an issue.) The bed was incredibly comfortable and overall we really enjoyed our stay. The only slight downside was noise from a bunch of bros staying on our floor, being loud in the hallways at 2:30 am. Since the front desk was closed at night, I wasn't sure who to even call to help reign them in, so I just yelled at them personally. Otherwise, it was a wonderful, relaxing getaway in a great location, close to the North End and the Aquarium.

I had booked one night for Valentine’s Day get away with my girlfriend. I knew specifically what I wanted to I booked by phone with an agent. I requested a room with a view, a tube, and if possible a fireplace. The agent on the phone assured me that the higher rate room will include everything I had requested. In addition, I added the romance package as I wanted to make Valentine’s Day special. The day of our arrival was terrible. Had to wait at the front desk for about 15 minutes for someone to show up which is understandable due to low staffing during covid. However, the room was not what I expected, and had paid for. The rose pedals on the bed seemed to have just been thrown out of a bag localized to one size of the bed. The view, which the agent assured me was the reason why I had to pay more was composed of the front drop off rotary, a tree, and partial view of the water which was mainly obstructed by another building. To make things worse, there was no fireplace or tube which I had been assured by the booking agent, through the hotel, that it was part of the room. In addition, the bottle to Champaign that was included with the package was in a bucket with room temperature water as the eye had melted. I am not one to complain or write reviews but this experience was terrible. When I approached the front desk to inquire about the room, I was dismissed and told that none of the rooms in that wing have either a tube or a fire place. In regards to the view, lady at front desk said there was nothing she could do and labeled the slight glimpse of the water as water front view. I will definitely will not be returning to this hotel which is unfortunate since it’s in a great location right next to the North End which we frequent a lot.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. Your review is troubling, and we would like to investigate further, as none of our rooms offer fireplaces and the only rooms that offer tubs are our Deluxe Doubles and our Harborview Suite. I am very sorry that you were misinformed by the booking agent for the wrong information. If you are able, please feel free to send us a direct message with your information so we may look further into this for you at contactus@batterywharfhotel.com.

Stayed here for two nights to celebrate my best friends birthday. Check in was easy and simple and our room was ready hours before check in, which was great. The rooms were clean. Because of COVID-19, housekeeping is only scheduled if you request it and room service isn’t an option at the moment. It shouldn’t be too much of a problem as you’re only a 10 minute walk away from the Fanuiel Hall & the Marketplace which gives you a boat load of dining options. Valeting your car overnight is $50 a night which is slightly steep considering how much you’re paying for the rooms. Other than that it was a wonderful stay and I would definitely recommend to anyone who doesn’t want to pay an arm and a leg to stay at the Marriott Wharf. Will definitely return!

Like most people we were a bit apprehensive about traveling this year. We wanted to get back to Boston to visit but also wanted to make some of the trip special for us since it was our 3rd wedding anniversary. We booked a suite at the Battery Wharf and WOW did they come through. First the check in and valet people were wonderful. They kept our car close by so we didn’t have to wait as long (we told them we’d need it again in an couple hours) and we only had to drop the keys at the desk. Given the Covid 19 environment I was a bit worried about the level of disinfection but was pleasantly greeted with a spotless room - with remotes sanitized and placed in bags and everyone wearing a mask. Some of the things have changed due to Covid - like day time room freshening (a small thing to give up for the safety of staff and guests). The hotel is trying to minimize elevator use to minimize risk to people so we were on the first floor. I’m an asthmatic with some chemical sensitivities so I was pleased that none of the cleaning supplies they used bothered me. I didn’t find myself at all concerned about the virus and very much enjoyed my trip to Boston. Despite the ongoing pandemic they did everything in their power to make sure our stay was memorable enjoyable.

Great location, on the wharf. Hotel is several buildings. That made it more difficult to navigate. Hotel restaurant is open for breakfast and dinner. Quality of food was good, however even by Boston standards, the prices were exceedingly high...$14 for a bowl of oatmeal. Staff worked hard, but I think a recent strike was still affecting service, especially in the restaurant. Internet was very slow. Nespresso machine in one room was not working, coffee pods made about 1/4 of a cup. ( pods were not Nespresso pods so maybe that had something to do with that.) Nice fitness center in a separate building. Found out our last day that sauna and steam room in the spa, are available to hotel guests. Wedding ceremony was performed in a basement room, under a beautiful dome. Area was small. Wedding guests were lead outside to fitness building to the reception area upstairs. Weather was cold and wet.
Staff were friendly and were obviously working hard with lack of staff. Wedding coordinator was helpful to all guests. Taxis available to airport.

Dear Julia6209, Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback of your recent experience at the Battery Wharf Hotel. We are delighted that you enjoyed the location of the property, the beautiful fitness center and spa, and were able to appreciate how hard the staff work. I am sorry to hear that you had to use the outside path to the other buildings. The property does offer underground indoor passages to all the buildings, and i will follow up with the staff to ensure this information is shared at check in and during guests' stays. We know you traveled far to celebrate the wedding and we hope that you will come back to Boston and experience the Battery Wharf again to create more memories. Thank you again!

Where to begin? In terms of service and facility, this is one of the World’s Worst Hotels. We decided to risk the stay based upon its being featured in Leading Hotels of the World. It is not, and ours was a big mistake. Our first hint of trouble was at check in. No bellman to help with luggage. By the time I managed to get our luggage to the room, I was sickened by the overwhelming stench of garlic and pot. That never changed. The room itself was quite beat up—handles missing from drawers and doors, etc. Contrary to the pictures on Leading Hotels, there are no balconies on the Hotel rooms—those are only for the residences. The valets go to bed early and even during the day, you may wait 20-25 minutes, so plan accordingly. When I registered our concerns, especially with the smells, I was greeted with empty stares. When I escalated, the manager, Kyle, was defensive, combative and rude. I only wish that I had read recent Trip Advisor reviews before committing to 4 nights, as they are completely consistent with our very poor experience. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of this disaster until they change management!

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback of your recent stay with us. I am sorry that the hotel did not meet your expectations. Safety and security of our employees, guests, residents and visitors remains our primary focus and the housekeeping staff work extra hard within CDC and local health guidelines to ensure the property is clean and safe. While the COVID pandemic has made it challenging for many industries, hotels like ours have had to limit some services. Security remains present on property in all areas of the hotel 24 hours a day. We look forward to welcoming you back under more normal circumstances in the future.

A well positioned hotel if you are going to Boston MA to explore the city. Waterfront location within easy walking distance of great bars, restaurants, train and T station and all the sights! Our room had 2 Queen beds which were comfortable and a large bath/shower room. There was a coffee machine with only 3 pods per day and some earl grey teabags. 2 small bottles of water were provided each day. If you wanted more you had to pay! Room booklet said there was a range of snacks and drinks in the room - there were none! There was no fridge. There was only one dressing gown and pair of slippers yet they knew 2 people were staying in the room. Housekeeping were excellent as were the valets. However, some of the reception staff were less good and one was downright rude! The onsight restaurant/grille was closed Monday- Wednesday so no breakfast facilities on those days. We had breakfast on Thursday but it was mediocre, cold waffle and no English breakfast tea. Overall, location was great, some staff were excellent, facilities were poor. For over £1000 for 3 nights this hotel was not worth the cost. I overheard other guests complaining of room issues too from insufficient facilities to mould in the room. A shame as the location is a real selling point.

After receiving a room that did not have the amenities I paid upgrade fees for, the hotel staff told me the best they could do was refund me $25 for a $600 two night stay. After finally speaking with hotel management she proceeded to yell at me on the phone and said “maybe this hotel is not the right fit for you” and then essentially kicked me out. They were extremely rude and I had to find a new hotel that same day for my vacation. I asked they for a partial refund, or a room with the amenities that I paid for and they refused to do that. This was the WORST HOTEL, I will NEVER go back and I do not recommend this “nice” poorly ran hotel to anyone traveling in Boston. The room had a bed and a bathroom, that was it and they considered that a “premier room”. Also be warned parking is $50 per night and that’s your only option.
