Was unable to checkin to a room, got a migraine from the strong fumes from painting and being sent to the wrong floor multiple times. Still have yet to be contacted or refunded... they then charged me for 2 nights worth of parking after not providing me with a room. Goes to show how detail oriented this hotel is .....
The room was of a good size, with a coffee maker, microwave and good size fridge provided in the room. Pods are provided for the coffee maker. These, as well as bottled water were replaced daily.
There is a reasonable choice for breakfast - including hot and cold options.
The hotel has a luggage room and were happy to hold on to bags for a few hours on check-out.
There was an unpleasant smell out on the corridor, which did not seem to dissipate for the duration of my stay. Quite a number of guests were putting garbage, including uneaten food, out into the corridor, and the fact that this was not being removed promptly probably didn't help.
It’s located in south Boston but chose it due to the downtown hotels being $$$! As Boston’s road system is pretty complex and the Satnav losing connection due to the tunnels, we decided to use the subway system to travel downtown.
The hotel is located just a safe 10 minute walk to Andrew subway station which is approximately 4 stops to the Downtown Crossing on the Red line (20 mins) and $2.40 per ride so it’s way cheaper than parking in the city.
The hotel itself is standard HIE as you’d expect. Modern, clean with buffet breakfast inc but parking is $20 per day. The room had a safe, hairdryer, iron, as well as shampoo, conditioner and body wash, but no moisturiser.
It’s also within a 5 min walk to an open shopping centre featuring TJ Max, Macy’s, Old Navy etc, along with an Olive Garden, Applebys and Wahlburger.
After paying over $300 a night to drop our daughter to college, you would expect at least some minimal service. Shower was also broken. Also, housekeeping on on request so make sure to ask. If not you will be stuck with old towels and a dirty room.
I would instead stay at the Marriott next door next time.
We arrived at 11:30pm and the main door was locked so I pressed the buzzer. An older gentleman rolled out in a scooter behind the front desk and let us in. Let's say that this clerk was not unfriendly but he was a little rough around the edges.
I wasn't expecting a lot from a Holiday Inn Express but I was actually pleasantly surprised. The room was a good size with a smaller than average bathroom. Beds were huge and comfortable and clean. There was a nice sized TV and after spending 3 weeks in Spain where all stations are in Spanish, any US English channel was a welcome break. Some issues or improvements I think that could have made our stay better was that the toilet was clogged and we could not even get it to flush properly. They also provide two bottles of water in the room but it is about 4 ounces and only enough to wet your mouth. When I went down to the reception to purchase water, the clerk sold me two small simple bottles of water for $3 each! Mind you these were not any fancy glass bottled water but the cheapest supermarket brand water for such a ridiculous price. Next time make sure your bring your own.
