Within walking distance to all attractions especially if you are an avid walker. The room was clean and modern. The walls are very thin though and noises are easily heard through them. Lots of outside noise as well but that is to be expected being downtown. The gym was closed throughout our stay and we were not informed of this...

We're sorry the brief closure of our gym while we relocated it to our 2nd floor negatively effected you during your stay, but it is now open & improved. Thanks for your review & we hope to see you again soon!

I recently stayed at ABH with my husband. We arrived on a Wed and stayed two nights. Our room was on the 7th floor. We could hear quite a bit of noise outside our room but I guess that is to be expected within the heart of the city. Which brings me to the location! Incredible! So close to everything!...

Thanks for your review! We will certainly address our doorman using his phone on the floor as that shouldn't be happening. Hope to see you again soon!

We stayed at the Ames in October 2013. It was our first night having arrived from the Uk. I was a bit apprehensive as the price was much cheaper than other hotels in the same area but my fears dispelled when we were given our room. It was lovely and modern in a boutique style. Bed was very comfortable and...

stayed in July 2014; was told before hand restaurant was closed for renovation - was not told that virtually all services were not available. So we ended up with just a room. Expenisve experience. location is superb, thats the only plus point. Suspect that when renovations are finished, will still be expensive but good location. It did what it needed...

Thanks for your review! Our restaurant was actually closed by it's owner, but we're working on getting a new one in there so we can reopen soon. Hope to see you there when it does!

Overall, not a bad place to stay. The Ames is a very nice use of an old Boston building. The location is tops, literally across the street from the State Street T stop (3 stops from the airport). It's really convenient for Downtown Crossing / Faneuil Hall / Beacon Hill activities and short and pleasant walks to North End /...

I had a very pleasant stay at the Ames Boston. The room was spacious, bright, and friendly, with wooden floors instead of carpets. A very welcome change from the dark, carpeted hotel rooms you find too often in the US ... . Design and furniture was modern and comfortable. The location is very central, the service was great and the...

This hotel was just fantastic! Everything about it was great - location, staff, but especially the room. It was super clean, fresh and modern. It didn't have that characteristic "old hotel room" smell. I was actually glad coming back to the room at the end of the day. Would definitely stay here again.

This is the third time I have stayed at the Ames and I was a bit disappointed. I still like it but there were some changes I was not happy about. The restaurant on the first floor seemed to have disappeared. It was technically still there, but there was a screen in the doorway so not available for hotel guests....

The hotel has a very nice modern design. I had a corner room with an incredible view of Boston. The room was clean and comfortable. The location of the hotel is great too as it is super central and you can walk everywhere. It would have been a great hotel if it wasn't for two major things. First, the hotel...

We're sorry you were unhappy about our lack of a restaurant. While it still hasn't reopened, we have started serving a European Style Continental Breakfast, have many restaurants that will deliver to the hotel, & have many, many restaurants within a very short walk from our hotel. We'd also like to apologize for the "curt" service you received from our...

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
The largest area of the city, Downtown is rich with historical and iconic sites in Boston. Stroll through one of Boston’s most famous green spaces, the Boston Public Gardens, check out and make way for duckling statues, picnic under a beautiful tree overlooking the pond, and walk over the iconic footbridge where, during summer time, you will catch a swan boat toting children and eager tourists through the pond. Have your camera ready to capture its peaceful beauty in the middle of a bustling city. Continue on through the Gardens and take in some open green space at the Boston Common, where you can spend time throwing a frisbee, sitting on a park bench, or, in the winter time, skating on the frog pond. Head north from the end of the Common to see the golden dome of the State House, and travel through government center to Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall, both a historic and popular destination worth a quick visit for a first time to Boston. Head to Long Wharf to visit the Aquarium, or catch a boat to Charlestown or even Cape Cod.
