The Hyatt Centric Faneuil Hall Boston is often lauded for its prime location and cleanliness, with guests regularly commending the spotless rooms and meticulous housekeeping. However, some visitors express concerns about the value, citing high fees and the compact size of rooms as drawbacks. The staff receives accolades for their helpfulness, though there are occasional mentions of slow service. While the modern atmosphere and amenities generally meet traveler expectations, noise from the streets and construction can be a disturbance for some.

Nothing beats this location, everything is within walking distance. The staff were very helpful and pleasant and attended to every request we had, and Kevin the manager even upgraded our room because we asked for a high floor and they didn't have the exact type of room. Also, Peter the trainee wouldn"t stop smiling - and that certainly brightened our visit!

I stayed twice in the last six months - July 2019 and November 2019

July 2019:

The room is very tiny but has all comforts and it is right downtown Boston in a perfect location.

I had a problem with the a/c, which kept on blowing even if I switched it off from the control unit. The technician arrived, used a ladder to access the main unit inside the ceiling and had to connect or disconnect something.

Breakfast at Mercato: checked in on Sunday. Had breakfast on Monday and Tuesday, in both occasions it took 30+ minutes to have a bowl of fresh fruit salad and cereals for me and some poached eggs for my colleague. Other colleagues at the table near by waited 45 min. We complained and got a free voucher for breakfast. In the evening a colleague ordered a beer at the bar and was told they would bring it to the table, he never got it.

In honesty, on Wednesday and Thursday I had breakfast in my room, as on the previous night I went to a 7eleven and purchased cereals, fruit salad and milk. On business trip with a very busy schedule we cannot spend 1h for breakfast, I would rather sleep more or spend time to prepare for my meetings.

You shall provide a buffet if you cannot cope for quick breakfast serving.

November 2019 update

Room very cold, a/c was set in COOLING mode and not HEATING!!! I set it to heating yet it was not pumping any warm air. Then it started but it had reverted to COOLING mode.... Called the technician again, same person as last July. And just like last July he wanted to come with a ladder and inspect the central unit inside the ceiling. Ultimately had to move to a new room.

The good news is that the Mercado was very quiet at breakfast this time and I could have a bowl of cereals and fresh fruit in about 15min, certainly an improvement.

The front desk staff was super with a special mention for Laura. They met every request we made while maintaining a contactless environment. Parking is taken care of at $25 a day at a nearby garage recommended by the hotel. The wharf, freedom trail, North End are within walking distance.

We chose this hotel for one night after a long flight for its proximity to the North End and our rental car location. It satisfied those requirements. Although we are vaccinated, we wore masks when in public as my husband is elderly and on an immune suppressing medication. The check-in rep did not wear a mask and walked around the plexiglass to speak with us and most guests did not wear masks.
Our 11th floor room was very small with 4 hangers in a closet about 8" wide. There is a bench on one wall for luggage with drawers underneath. This means one needs to be at floor level to use the only clothing drawers in the room. Lighting was very poor in the room and the large windows faced an office building. The bathroom was adequate but without a makeup mirror or sufficient towel racks. The sink has hand towel racks in front of it and there is one hook in the room for all other towels, bathrobes, etc. The bed was very comfortable. We have stayed at many Hyatt hotels and this one we rate on the bottom of the scale for guest comfort.

moretrips51, Thank you for your review. I'm sorry you were unhappy with the size of the room. Although our rooms are small, they were designed as efficiently as possible to enhance the guest experience. As for the view, unfortunately our building is shorter than those surrounding it so the majority of our rooms face the neighboring buildings. In regards to the mask wearing, the hotel is in compliance with all local, state and Hyatt mandates. I'm sorry you didn't enjoy your stay with us this time but do home you stay with us again in the future! Regards, Shawn C. General Manager

I booked through hotels.com and I am so glad my friends and I stayed here. I do have to say a decent hotel in downtown Boston is around $150-200 per night. I waited the day before to book to get the best price.

This hotel is super nice and contemporary. The room itself with two “double” (full) beds was very small with limited room. They did allow me to change from one king bed (my original reservation) to two double beds which was really nice of them. Though, I still think the room was too small.

Cons of this hotel include: I remember ordering a sandwich at 2am and it was the ONLY item on their menu. It was a cold chicken bacon sandwich...and it was underwhelming. The cost of the sandwich was $26. I feel taken advantage of by this cost. They also don’t have free access to water in the lobby - you have to go to the gym or bar to access these.

I would definitely recommend staying here but at a rate from a third party and not directly from the Hyatt.

I stayed at the Hyatt Centric for one night recently. The location is very central (a little hard to find, as the signage is too subtle) and convenient to the Financial District – the Seaport and Back Bay are both only a short walk, and the State Street T station is very close.

The good: As all is new my room was very clean and up to date. Plenty of USB charging points, large TV and a Bluetooth speaker next to the bed. Keurig coffee maker was a plus and micro fridge for keeping self-purchased drinks chilled (no mini bar). Front desk staff were friendly and professional.

The bad: the room was TINY. I recently visited Tokyo, and my rooms there were larger than this! Although the space is well utilized I wouldn’t recommend this hotel (at least not a standard room) for an extended stay or those with lots of luggage, children, etc. A single business traveller with minimal luggage and no need for a desk might however be fine. Also awkward was a lack of an enclosed bathroom – the shower was adjacent to the room entrance (no tub), the sink area was open and the toilet had only a sliding door to separate it from the room. Not very private! Another point to note: the windows facing Devonshire Street are not soundproof – light sleepers might be bothered by the traffic noise (even on the 9th floor where I was), and shades must be drawn to avoid entertaining neighoring office workers.

Summary: if you get a good rate and don’t mind tight quarters with some “city sounds,” the location is great and convenient to all that Boston offers. Otherwise this felt like an experiment in least square feet per person – to me it felt like the Hyatt designers pushed it too far.

Stayed for 3 nights for a business trip because my office is nearby. The rooms were perfect size for one person; I really liked how cozy they were. I’d done my research, so knew to expect that they were smaller than the average hotel room.

Everything felt clean and new, and functionally, it was laid out nicely. Loved having the time of day in the mirror.

Beds were really comfortable. Halls were pretty quiet. I rarely heard a door slam.

The shower was SMALL - smaller than a cruise ship shower, it seems (and I’ve been on 11 cruises).

I put my suitcase on top of the small set of drawers under the TV, so didn’t need a luggage rack.

The mini fridge is a drawer that holds a bottle of wine and maybe a 16-ounce bottle of water. Cooled my (super fancy…ha!) bottle of Costco wine nicely, and that’s all I needed!

The Hyatt Centric is in a great location for walking the city, with lots of restaurants nearby (or plenty to order from on Uber Eats), as well as the State MBTA stop. It was a $25, 10-minute Uber ride from the airport on a Monday night at 8 p.m.

I booked a basic king room through my work’s travel agency and requested a high floor. Despite being a basic Hyatt member, I ended up on the 9th floor (of 12), so that was great, even though the view was not (it’s into a neighboring office building/parking garage).

I’d stay again on my next trip to Boston!

I am a Globalist member of the Hyatt, and I checked in at the Hyatt Centric Faneuil Hall in Boston on August 25. I am very disappointed in the standard of service during my stay. Firstly, My wife ordered an espresso and a toast this morning but was told that complimentary breakfast only includes regular coffee and a small pastry. With our past experiences in other Hyatts, there were many options for us to choose from.
Secondly, We were told when we checked in that housekeeping could only be provided upon request, one day in advance. Then we requested on Aug 25 for service on Aug 27. We then double checked with the front office this morning (Aug27) , and the receptionist confirmed that the housekeeping was notified to clean the room. However, when we returned to the room at 5 pm, the room was not cleaned. My wife called the office and an officer just asked what she wanted to do about it but did not offer any housekeeping service or anything to help until she directly asked for housekeeping services, which surprised us.
As the stay has not been pleasant, we are planning on checking out early.
At $260/ night
We can do better elsewhere
Definitely will not be back at this hotel

Keniong8, Thank you for your feedback. The hotel is still working through some challenges due to COVID related strain. We know the importance of starting the day off right and made sure that our coffee bar was the first food and beverage outlet we committed to re-opening. We always want to take great care of our Globalists and have been receiving great feedback from our reward members on the coffee shop and breakfast offerings. I'm sorry we fell short of your expectations but happy to offer you an expresso and toast the next time you visit as part of your Globalist Breakfast benefit. As for housekeeping, based on what you described, we didn't execute properly or follow up in the appropriate manner and for that I sincerely apologize. With that said, we always want to make things right. Someone from the hotel will be in contact with you. Regards, Shawn C. General Manager

We booked the Hyatt Centric Faneuil Hall in Boston for 2 nights. I will say that this location was perfect. We were able to walk everywhere that we wanted to and it wasn't in a sketchy area. The hotel offers valet parking but there are also many options for parking around the area. Lots of places to grab food and close to so many sites, it was easy to get places by foot.

We checked into the hotel later in the day and I was pleased to see that the people working at the front desk were wearing their masks. The rooms don't have refrigerators but you can request that one be sent up to your room. Since I knew that we were planning on picking up food to bring home, I made sure to ask for one. When we got up to the room, I saw that it was a lot smaller than I had thought. While the room itself was clean, we found a couple of hairs in the shower which was pretty gross. When the refrigerator was dropped off, the person who brought it up had to plug it in. We were all wearing our masks so you would think that they would put theirs on out of courtesy but they did not. I also think that the TV was a bit outdated...usually hotels offer streaming services (to log into) but this TV offered only a select amount of channels on cable. Also note that there is no door separating the shower and the rest of the room (for privacy). I also found that there is very little room to sit besides the bed because the room was so small. The next morning, we noticed that there was some type of liquid in the elevator and when we came back later in the day, it was still not cleaned. The bar and restaurant was also closed at the time of our trip.

While there are definitely setbacks to this hotel, the location is really it's strong point. If you could get over small, outdated rooms and would rather focus on location, then I'd say this is a good hotel for you. However, if you plan on spending a lot of time in your hotel, there may be others with more space to do so!

I’ve stayed here many times and continued to do so as Covid reopened Boston. This trip was awful and I will never stay again. Room wasn’t cleaned in 5 nights, no food and beverage service, management hasn’t gotten breakfast or coffee back to pre- Covid service. No bar and no room service. Rooms are all small but if you are able to get on a higher floor you do t hear the trash truck every morning at 4:30am.
