I was disappointed with Taylor House on a number of levels. First, despite my request for a room with full bath, my husband and I were put in a room with shower only; when I queried (at checkout), I was told that we were changed because it was too expensive to heat the guest house (a separate building next door)....

We were in town for the marathon with 2 teenagers and young child plus 3 adults. It worked perfectly for us as it was pretty close to the public transit system as well as stores and restaraunts. The house was more than we expected and we loved it. So much in fact that we were going to book for 2011,...

I have been coming to Boston for the last several years as my daughter is a college student at MassArt.Before finding the Taylor House, I stayed at several hotels in the center of town and then tried out several B&B's. Taylor House is always my 1st choice. Jamaica Plain is a wonderful neighborhood, my stays are always comfortable, the breakfasts...

As a single female traveler, I have always preferred the warmth of a B&B over an impersonal and sterile hotel chain. Accommodations in Jamaica Plain are few, so Taylor House fills a real need. The renovation and conversion of this beautiful old home into a charming and comfortable B&B was masterfully done. The location, on a lovely residential street just...

We came in to town for a funeral in early January. We were met at the T-stop and treated to a warm welcome. They were out early clearing the snow to help us all get to the ceremony on time. They also helped us get back to the airport the next day. They were so warm and welcoming for a...

My wife and I came to Boston for my nephew's wedding and stayed at the Taylor House, along with several other family members. The house was very nice- quiet and comfortable. The room was large and the bed was excellent. The bathroom was in good condition. However, what set this place apart from the many others we've stayed at over...

We were looking for somwhere close to the city but quiet too- whot we found was a real treasure! Taylor House is in a beautiful, quiet neighbourhood, in walking to all public transportation ( we walked the few blocks to the "T" every day of our stay even thogh we had the worst weather in years ). Dave and Daryl...

We have been coming to Taylor House for years. Each room is spacious and unique and charming. The third floor (former maids' quarters done over) even has three bedrooms, a bathroom and a beautiful living room/kitchenette/"entertainment center" - perfect for a family or a group of friends. The breakfasts include hot goodies cooked by Daryl and a huge array of...

This was my third time to stay here in as many years. I find the rooms pleasingly eclectic, the comforters on the beds cozy, and the breakfasts delicious and filling (okay, I'm a big fan of Daryl's homemade granola, and dream of going back just to eat more). Very convenient to some delightful restaurants, and located on a quiet street.

Staying in Jamaica Plain

Neighbourhood Profile
Jamaica Plain
This Boston neighborhood feels like a distinct community unique and separate from the bustle of other areas. Beautiful Victorian homes, restaurants with an emphasis on being eco-friendly and providing local and organic food, and a large Hispanic community. Visit Centre and South streets for restaurants, cafes, and little shops. The Arnold Arboretum is a beautiful, large green space well worth a visit if you venture to JP.
