The Sheraton Boston Hotel presents a dichotomy in guest experiences. While the central location near malls and attractions is a highlight for many visitors, opinions diverge regarding the hotel's atmosphere, with some appreciating the clean rooms and grand lobby, but others finding the decor outdated. Guests often express disappointment over the perceived lack of value, citing high costs against a backdrop of ongoing renovations and closed amenities such as the lounge and pool.
Room conditions are a concern, with negative remarks about maintenance, cleanliness, and noise. Service quality at the hotel also receives inconsistent reviews, with some guests commending the staff's helpfulness while others report experiences of unprofessionalism.

Stayed here recently for a very large conference which was at the Boston Convention Center, which is about 2 miles from here. Checking in wasn’t very nice nor friendly, the ladies they had working the counter were very curt, unprofessional, and far from welcoming… their attitude was as if they were doing me a favor. There were about 20 coworkers that I discussed this with and they all had the same complaint about their check-in process. The rest of the staff (housekeeping, those walking around, etc) I encountered were actually very friendly. Seems like the front desk is the only staff which are entitled and empowered to act as poorly as they do.
I got a recently refurbished room on the 26th floor and it was nice. Everything in it was new and very up-to-date, such as the bed having USB and AC outlets in the headboard. The room I got had a living room with pull out bed and TV and the separate bedroom (separated by a door) also had a TV and chair… so if staying with multiple people, it’s a comfy room for privacy and space.
They also have hi-speed elevators to get guests up to the 26th (and above) floor from the lobby. The hotel is attached to the Prudential Center which is a large, very popular mall with many eateries and stores. This property is a quick, 2 block walk from Newbury St, which is a very nice, neighborhood community/walk with tons of shopping and dining options.
Overall, aside from the check-in experience, the stay was great. I would normally just knock off a star for a single issue, but the level of service me and my coworkers experienced brings the stay down to 3 stars.

There are some great positives to this hotel but there are also some things to consider when choosing this hotel. Our experience was a positive one throughout but as some reviews have mentioned, the check in queue can get incredibly long at certain times of day.
We arrived 4pm on a Saturday and encountered no queue for check-in, our room was ready and we were in the room within 10 minutes. The staff were pleasant and friendly upon our arrival. On other days we did see the length of the queue but this never caused us an issue.
The room we had was on the 21st floor, right at the end so we had a great double aspect view, which for 4th July fireworks was a perfect location to view the Charles River. The bed was comfy and the other amenities in the room are to a good standard. The bathroom could be improved though, it looked dated and needed some improvement. It was all functional but looked like the bathroom was more than 10 years old.
The hotel is conveniently located for the centre of Boston. Being next to the Prudential Center is obviously a great location, the fact that the hotel has direct access into the shopping malls, restaurants and surrounding areas without having to go outside is a big positive. On wet or extremely hot days it is a convenient option to work through and explore the shops and restaurants.
The Market cafe/shop within the hotel is very useful as well. Getting a morning coffee or tea from there proved useful, however, the breakfast options aren't great though. The breakfast burrito and the eggs and potato option weren't that nice and expensive for low quality convenience food.
Checkout was also nice and simple, in part that may have been because we didn't charge anything to the room so the process took all of 30 seconds.
Overall, our stay was positive and pleasant.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. Only a couple of days but would have loved to have stayed longer. A very nice welcome at reception and an upgrade to a suite which was fantastic. Our suite was on the 17th floor. Large windows down one side so a great view across the Charles River. The room had everything we needed - a good sized fridge, safe, ironing board, hairdryer, toiletries, a well appointed work space (separate from the bedroom), a comfortable seating area. The bed was also very comfortable. As other reviews have said, it is a bit tired and in need of a refurb (please keep the pictures of Boston though as I loved those). The bath especially was in a bad way, with lots of paint chipped off (fine for a shower but I wouldn't have wanted to take a bath in it). The only negative I would say about the room (and the reason I've not given 5 stars) was that the cleaning wasn't 100%. We found rubbish from a previous guest in a few places. Due to our long journey we put the do not disturb sign up but this must have meant that we missed the early morning housekeeping, as even though we removed the sign and left by late morning no housekeeping came the rest of the day. Will know that for next time. The facilities in this hotel are excellent. There are gyms for cardio and weights (my husband loved the peloton bike). They were spacious and quiet in the morning. The pool with the retractable roof was perfect at the end of a hot day. It would be better if they banned ball games though as we were unable to swim due to children throwing balls around. The outdoor courtyard area had sunloungers which was a lovely quiet area to sunbathe away from the pool games. This is definitely a USP for this hotel as not many have this outside space in the city, but I don't think they're making the most of it - again it seemed a bit tired with empty planters and weeds growing around the edges of the flagstones. The public areas are very spacious and there is a great bar with lovely food. They don't have any snacks though (nuts, chips, olives etc), you need to buy a meal, but the sharing platter was very nice. The service was excellent. A huge plus of this hotel is its location. In a good area which is easy to walk around, we enjoyed a walk along the river with an ice-cream. There is also a door that opens directly into the Prudential Centre so you literally have shops, cafes and restaurants right on the doorstep. Do check your bill before you leave. A gift shop charge had been added to ours even though we had never been to the gift shop (didn't even know there was one!). It was removed without any bother but best to check. All in all a great stay and we will definitely be back.

We arrived at the hotel April 30 and left May 2. We were four adults in a double bed room. I’m going to be honest actually this hotel has a great location that even provided us with direct access to the mall. It also had a wonderful lobby. However, with the room, we experienced a lot of maintenance and cleaning issues.
First of all when we arrived, we noticed that the room had a lot of maintenance issues and cleaning issues. In the bathroom on top of the bathtub, there was a filter that was full of dust, and it was like gray looking. He really seemed dirty as well as the air conditioning that was full of dust and that affected two of us that were inside the room since we are allergic to dust, and we had to take medicine to prevent our allergy getting worse. Apart from that the bathtub was peeling, and it seems unhygienic and lacking of maintenance.
Additionally, we were staying at the 23rd floor and on the second day we realized that there was a construction above us from 9 to 5 and when we went back during the day to get some rest so that we can continue our itinerary we weren’t able to sleep since there was a loud noise coming above us. We informed the front desk about this and they offered a change, but we denied it since we were leaving the next day. It would’ve been nice to be informed at our arrival that this was going be taking place above our room.
Lastly, the last night we stayed at the hotel while sleeping. My dad was fed by a black insect. We couldn’t recognize what it was exactly but it left a mark on him. We were really surprised. The cleaning in the room wasn’t the best as well.
I would just recommend this hotel if you really want upgrade location however for the price I think you can get something better around that same area since they have a lot of maintenance issues in the room and lack of cleaning as well. The lobby is really beautiful in the access to the mall as well, but I don’t think it’s worth it , if you were going to experience issues as we did, I hope this helps when booking this hotel. You will find some photos of how the room was as well as the lobby.

Ok, this review is a tricky one. The hotel is under going renovations. The room was gorgeous. Updated, clean, modern, great amenities, beds are super comfortable and plush and soft.
Here's the tricky part. As the hotel is undergoing renovations they did not have a restaurant or a bar. As it's in the Prudential mall would be fine, unless, you want a drink (soda or otherwise) after 9pm when everything closes. Because then if you order room service they charge you a $6 delivery fee which is ridiculous. If they don't offer any services then the delivery fee should be waived. Here's where I also had an issue, the body wash in the shower was completely empty. Also, one of the free bottles of water they provide in the room was already opened and half gone. Gross!!!
So while the renovations are going great, housekeeping needs some work.

The hotel was OK, but definitely not worth the price we had to pay for the room (1127). The room was extremely small. Only 1 bedside table (so if 2 people have to use a CPAP it won't work). The bed was so close to the wall that you couldn't walk on one side of the bed and some of the outlets did not work. Limited lighting in the room only lamps in the main area. The bathroom was very small. Two people could not fit into it at the same time. The door opened less than an inch away from the toilet when you go into the bathroom. The shower floor was not textured, making it slippery when showering.
The bellhop staff (especially Al) was extremely friendly and helpful, same as the valet staff.
I feel that paying $70 a day for parking on top of the inflated room prices for an outdated room that was more the size of a budget motel is not worth it.

We were in town for the Boston marathon and booked this hotel solely based on its location. It was perfect for that, right on Boylston Street and close enough to walk to the finish line. It's also conveniently attached to the Prudential Center that has some nice shopping and access to numerous restaurants. The rooms are a little tired and in need of some updates; new carpeting and wall coverings would freshen things up. Our room was comfortable though and had a king-sized bed, large t.v., refrigerator, and a beautiful view of the Charles River and the pretty Back Bay neighborhood. The bathroom was small but clean. There's a market area in the lobby where we were able to grab breakfast to go in the mornings - fresh fruit, tasty yogurt parfaits, and homemade breakfast sandwiches and also a restaurant in the lobby. The service was good and friendly. The day of the marathon they were giving out ice packs and fresh towels for the runners; I thought that was a nice touch. Check-in and out were easy. Even though the hotel name is Sheraton, this property is owned by Marriott, so we were able to use Marriott points to reserve our room. Overall we loved the location, were happy with our stay, and would stay here again for return Boston Marathon trips.

The good Newly renovated room which was a decent size, can’t remember if I booked an entry level room or not, it was a king bed so maybe not Great location, especially good in winter you can walk to and from the station via malls and buildings so no need to go out in the cold
The bad Bathroom is tiny, not even enough space to lay out the mat Noise - there is zero soundproofing, can hear everything (and I mean everything) from the room next door, rustling in the hallway, people walking past, would hate to think how bad the noise is on a lower floor The doors don’t have handles that turn when you leave so you hear everyone’s doors banging all day and night Some staff were ok, others leave a lot to be desired like the doorman/valet who watched us struggle back in with shopping bags and need to put them down to open the door to come back into the hotel but no offer of help, another two doormen stood chatting to each other as we left and ignored us putting 4 bags into an uber without a second glance or offer of help There was half eaten food in our minibar on check in that wasn’t ours and left from the guest prior.
We submitted some feedback re the noise via their head office communications (as there’s no email address to contact the hotel directly) and we did receive a half hearted attempt to solve it, but they simply put it back on us to provide info (despite all the info we’d already put in the original feedback) then didn’t reply when I asked what info they needed. So a half assed attempt to resolve but I guess you could say they’d maybe planned to try?
All in all I’m sure there’s better options in Boston and if you’re looking for warm hospitality and welcoming staff I’d suggest looking elsewhere.

I travel to Boston and Cambridge frequently for work, and the Sheraton Boston has been on my good list for a many years now. Although it is an older hotel and the decor is dated (it hadn't been renovated in quite a while), the club lounge was decent, elite member upgrades to a junior suite or regular suite were quite common, the rooms were clean, and housekeeping was very good.
However, they are now in the middle of a large renovation project, which is resulting in some significant problems.
Checking in, or other interactions with the front desk may take some time, as they usually have only two associates there. The temporary location for the front desk is also very small, and often very crowded.
I booked just a standard room, and my reservation was assigned a high floor room as an upgrade. Platinum and Titanium Elite members have a benefit of a complimentary suite upgrade when available at check in, so I asked the associate if any suite upgrades were available. Fortunately, there was a full corner/end suite available, and even though it was only around 11AM, it was available right away. Thank you very much for the upgrade!
The club lounge was closed during COVID, and never reopened. The club lounge is still closed. It should be reopened after the renovations are completed. My understanding is that it will be on the lobby level instead of the 29th floor, which had spectacular views.
None of the hotel food outlets or lobby lounge are open. The only option for food from the hotel is room service. Fortunately, it's a short walk to outside restaurants and the Prudential Center, where there are many food options. I was told that I would receive an extra 1,000 Marriott Bonvoy points per day for the inconvenience, but I never received them. I only received the 1,000 points as the Titanium Elite welcome amenity. It's very disappointing when they don't follow through on what they say.
There are other reports here of interruptions with hot water, which I experienced also. Most of the time it was okay, but it also can happen in the morning when getting ready for the day.
So even though I normally like the Sheraton Boston very much, I would avoid this hotel until after the renovations are complete. I look forward to returning at that time.

We took a 3-day weekend trip to see some baseball. As one adult and one teen, we were able to walk with 1 rolling suitcase from the Back Bay train station to the hotel (~25 minutes) which was a big plus, and it is also within walking distance to Fenway. When we arrived, there was a long line for check in, but the staff moved the line quickly. We asked for a room at the end of the hall so that there is less foot traffic, and we were accommodated, although it ended up being a room for disabled people, which we did not need. The furniture and decor were in good shape but outdated. There is a fridge, but it is on the floor under the desk. Due to the room being for disabled, the was not a standard shower head, but two separate hand-held things, which took a bit to figure out how to use. When we first arrived, the TV would not turn on, so we called guest services, and they did send someone, but in the interim it did turn on. The TV guide was running a date behind, and I could not find a way to fix it. I thought the bed was OK but my son said his bed was uncomfortable and he did not sleep well. We did have housekeeping service. Check out was just dropping off the key. The big surprise came after we had already left. We opted to pay for the wifi for one night (no, it's not free here), and instead of just charging the $12.99, we were charged the full room bill twice. It was sorted out quickly though. If I were to go for another short trip, I would consider staying again since I did get a great deal through booking.com.

The hotel restaurant is normally open on Christmas Day, but the Sheraton Boston is currently undergoing a major refurbishment/transformation including the lobby, restaurant, and club lounge. The restaurant dining room is currently closed, but they are open for room service. Their website does not have any dates mentioned for expected completion of the work, so it would be best to contact them directly to see if they will be open by Christmas Day.
The invoice shows number of guests, but makes no reference that I can see to the allowances for number of guests. Other than that, the invoice only shows room charge and taxes. I did not have food or other charges so I cannot provide further comment
