The hotel has the best location at the top of Newburry Street. The hotel is not being properly taken care of. The ac was not working properly and the property is run down. The room is old. The interenet was inconsistent. The servie in the restaurant was ok. The bar was excellent.

We had a room with 2 double beds so my husband and daughter could accompany me on this 2 day business trip - a professional meeting held at the hotel. Thus, we stayed at a discounted group rate (covered by my professional expense account - otherwise I would not have splurged on a hotel in this price range). Our room...

I'm writing this re-review of The Taj a few months after our most recent stay but let me say that it has remained about as close as one can get to the standards of "old Boston" when the place was the Ritz Carlton and the "creme de la creme" wouldn't think of staying anywhere else. We had a deluxe king...

My wife and I spent Valentine's Day weekend at the Taj Hotel. The staff is attentive and courteous. The room was finely appointed. There was a large, comfortable bed; a writing table and chair - no factory-made furniture here. All authentic heritage pieces. The view onto Boston Common was grand. The Taj is located right in the middle of the...

Having stayed at the Ritz and now the Taj a number of times in the past we were totally unprepared for our current May 2017 visit: an unmitigated disaster! My husband is not as agile as he once was, and we asked for a handicap room when we made the reservations since these are the only rooms with walk in...

It is well located but the hotel rooms are old. The bathrooms in the rooms was dirty when I got to the room, the rooms overall is dark. the only outstanding point is the location, no space for clothes.

Excellent Location The positives stop there Pricey. Dated furniture, chipped wood, old stained carpets and TV counter top. Restaurant wishes to dissociate itself from the Taj Innercircle and Epicure membership plans Fell well below expectation as compared to any Indian Taj Hotel Probably 3 star, and hence extremely pricey

Extremely disappointed with our stay at the Taj Boston. The air conditioning didn't work one night and we called the next morning but no resolution or communication for 2 days. The manager of the hotel left a message to apologize but no communication about the status of the a/c. He didn't both to return our call later. Others in the...

Early May was cold, rainy. Taj had turned heat OFF for the summer season.Portable heater was needed at night. Patched up hall carpet was done poorly with duct tape. Although rooms and bath are large, towel racks are limited, second person's towels are not in the shower room. Minibar but no coffee maker.Cheap toilet paper.

Although a somewhat dated hotel it is a very nice place to stay. If you're looking for urban hipster modern this isn't 'it. It is more traditional with heavy moldings and detail. I stayed in a deluxe unit facing Newbury street. The room was quiet, spacious and nicely appointed. Bathroom had nice tile and fixtures but was a little tight...

Staying in Back Bay

Neighbourhood Profile
Back Bay
Wander around this quintessential neighborhood in the heart of Boston for high-end shops, restaurants, and the feeling of city bustle. Its most identifiable skyscrapers, the Prudential Center and John Hancock Tower, are highlights of the city skyline. Visit Newbury street to explore unique and trendy boutiques – as well as every other kind of store imaginable – all housed in beautiful brownstone buildings. In nice weather, restaurant patio seating is packed with Bostonians and tourists alike soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the food. Commonwealth Ave offers a beautiful stroll down residential tree-lined streets. Keep walking towards the Charles River and enjoy a beautiful view by the water. In warmer months, people run and bike on paths running along the esplanade, and sail and kayak on the Charles River. Boylston street, also full of shops, bars, and restaurants, is the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Head towards Copley Square and check out the Boston Public Library, which is particularly beautiful from the Dartmouth street entrance.
