I agree with other reviewers that this hotel could do with a refurb but it’s perfectly good the way it is and everything works. The beds are comfy, the shower is hot and the room was mostly clean. The location is good, in a quiet spot, there is a beach walk just behind the hotel. The metro line is a short walk away to get into downtown. There is a small cafe in the hotel but hit and miss when it was open. The first thing we did was purchase a $22.50 Charlie card for the trains and busses and that got us everywhere we wanted to go during our stay. There are places to eat 1 stop away at Andrew on the metro or the number 8 bus from outside the hotel takes you to south bay mall.

Negatives. We had to make our own way from the airport as couldn’t get a response from them (it’s advertised as a free shuttle service) but this was easy. The room was very dusty, clearly not been cleaned properly and the hospitality tray was not properly stocked for our whole trip, I had to go to reception most days for supply’s. The heating is pretty old and noisy

Would I stay again? Yes - felt it did the job in a good location.

The location is so remote that taxi, Uber or Lyft expenses are necessary. Thus the cost for our stay is expensive that we could have stayed in downtown Boston. There are no eateries within 5-10 minute walking distance.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are sorry to hear that our location was not to your liking. We are in walking distance to many attractions such as the JFK Library, Carson Beach and Downtown is a few stops away on the nearby Red Line. We are disappointed that we did not hit the mark with your stay but appreciate that you selected us for your Boston stay.

PROS -
Hourly Shuttles to Logan and nightly Shuttles to certain spots downtown for dinner (have to reserve your spot in advance).
Free Warm Cookies at the desk and complimentary bottle of water.
Lighthearted fun attitude from the front desk staff and the cleaning crew was polite.
Can walk to the JFK Library and also their subway system (colored line maps provided).
Uber to/from downtown was only $10 to $15 each way.
If you had the munchies, there 2am walkable dining options.
Good water pressure from the shower.
Heating went up to 80 F
Allowed me to checkout an hour late.
Good mix of fun guests.

CONS -
Breakfast Buffet was $22
Could easily make out what people were talking about in their rooms, as you walked down the hall.
Very small gym.
Thin blankets/covers and rough pillows.
The alarm clock went off, waking me up. I didn't set it. They should try and make sure to reset it when cleaning the room for the next guest.

Unless you have a reason to be at UMass or the JFK Library, avoid this hotel. It is located in a food desert. They offer an overpriced cafe with hot and cold sandwiches, chips and Starbucks coffee and a $22 per person breakfast buffet that offers far less than what you would expect for free at most other hotel/motel brands. We shared a cold sandwich, one bag of chips and a bottle of water for $17. The closest restaurants that offer a decent breakfast, lunch or dinner are at least a 20 minute walk away or require a taxi or possibly the use of the hotel shuttle. The shuttle service would be a nice amenity, the drivers are friendly and professional, if the front desk bothered to inform guests it is available to them and even more how its mandatory to sign up for a ride at the desk and mandatory call for pickup from the restaurant area. We weren't informed of its existence until the third night of our stay and that was by a fellow hotel guest who was waiting for the shuttle to go to dinner. I went in to see about it and asked why we weren't told, the front desk person simply responded "well did you ask?" when I indeed had asked him the day before. Zero customer service. The shuttle also will drop you near the Boston convention center (the food court is closed and it's a 10 block walk through construction to get near a restaurant. Take the subway (a three or four block walk under the freeway and then up three flights to buy your ticket). We chose this hotel because we were taking a sightseeing tour that started and ended with a stay at this hotel. The first three nights we had a king size bed, the last night was a
double bed but since we were leaving at 3 a.m, not worth a comment to front desk denizens, all reasonably comfortable and clean. For the price we paid for this hotel, I could have stayed downtown in a convenient location nearer the historic neighborhoods and actually had a decent visit to the city. Please avoid this place unless you absolutely can't find another place to stay in the city.

This hotel is pretty terrible! It only caters toward business people, so if you are a common traveler or on vacation don't expect to be comfortable here! On site parking is $19 and no street parking in the area. We were awaked at 8am by a staff member using their key card to open our door. No knock or verbal communication saying that it was anyone such as Housekeeping. Luckily we had the security latch set, otherwise they would have just walked right in while we were sleeping! This was so confusing since we had just read a sticker on the mirror in the bathroom that said there would be no daily housekeeping and that you would have to call to request it. An hour after both me and my wife finally got back to sleep, a four man crew pulled up right outside our window and started leaf blowing at 9am. If you know how 3 blowers all running at the same time sounds, you know that it's impossible to sleep through. The heater/AC was also switching on and off making a loud clicking noise all night long that was also disruptive. Everything is clearly old, dirty and neglected here, and they don't care to modernize or fix anything. (Check out the huge weird stain on the ceiling of our room) When I brought up these issues with the lady who seemed to be the manager at the front desk she just told me that people who stay there are usually up at 8am so it's fine for housekeeping to walk into our room unannounced at that time. She had nothing to say about the work crew outside our window at 9am. I argued that checkout is at 12 noon so why did they wake us up at 8 and she had no answer. She begrudgingly and rudely refunded us $30 and said thats all she can do. We expected way more for the price we paid to stay here. Terrible customer service and terrible stay! Spend the extra $50 to stay somewhere that actually cares about their guests experience!

Not familiar with area, booked based on Hilton name and free shuttle to downtown. Found out shuttle runs to Southside only and not the side of town with attractions or very clean. You want to stay near North Side so every day we took subway or train to downtown. Subway is a 5 min walk from hotel (saving grace). No restaurants or shops near hotel so dinner was another Uber or lift expense. At $230.00 per night just not worth the stay. Hotel employees were great and professional. No free coffee in lobby and the Starbucks in lobby is a joke as they only had regular bland coffee (at Starbucks regular expensive prices) and none of what makes Starbucks special. Beds were very hard and uncomfortable and tv was limited to 5 channels. No smart tv so I could not cast my subscriptions from my phone. Free airport shuttle was a joke as only runs from 6a to 9:30p. Our flights were 9:55p landed and 6:00a takeoff so we ubered to and from. Shower head in room should be adjustable but broken so only stiff blast of water. Wall Thermostat on ac broken so had to adjust from unit and reset several times per night no consistent temps. Lesson learned. Pay the extra money and stay on north side...would have made up for it on time and Uber trips.

The hotel is only 5 minutes from the T red line which takes you right to stops for the main attractions and only $2.40 per trip. We had rooms on the 6th floor which had water views and being the top floor, they were very quiet. Very clean room, well appointed and spacious.

This feels more like a Ramada or Choice hotel - not at all a Doubletree or Hilton. I guess there's a reason why this is the lowest priced Hilton property anywhere near central Boston.

Charging $22 for parking in an unattended lot a decent distance from the hotel is quite the cheek - as is asking customers to walk back to their cars to put a tag on their mirror in a rainstorm. Front desk staff seemed more concerned about hanging out with their friends in the lobby than helping guests and overall it just felt like there was no concern for the guest.

Room was OK but this feels like a hotel in major need of a refurbishment and refresh or a brand (and price) downgrade.

I often fly into Logan late and stay close to the airport rather than driving home after being up for 20+ hours. Despite their costing $100-150 more per night, I'll stick with staying at the airport Hilton or the Embassy suites by the rental car center in the future

We regret to hear that you felt our property was not representative of the DoubleTree Brand. You are correct in indicating we generally have a lower price that other Hilton family properties as we are a short-distance from Downtown Boston. It is disappointing to hear that you did not feel our Front Desk team was attentive to your needs and we will certainly work with them to make improvements. Thank you for sharing your feedback.

I’ve been staying here just about two nights a week for almost 3 years now. The staff goes above and beyond until today. The property is aging and lacks any full service hotel amenities. The buffet breakfast buffet is composed of all premade items. Nothing to write home about. There is a small cafe that serves Starbucks Coffee and a short menu of breakfast and lunch/dinner items (sandwiches and salads. Just recently in the evenings the cafe doors are kept closed and if you want to order you have to do so at the bar. I ordered a coffee at the bar at 5:50pm and the bartender returned to inform me my request was denied “they” won’t make my order. They do offer outdated coffee in your room. I go above the norm here with tips but no longer! If you plan on a stay here don’t expect much as far as food and beverage is concerned.

The hotel is dirty and tired. The front desk staff is incompetent and apathetic. It took them 4 tries to check me in. The television in the room did not work. The soap & shampoo containers on the shower wall were empty. The towels are very think and cheap. The quality of the food in the cafe is very poor . They billed me for more than the amount owed when I checked out. And for all this, they charged me $500 per room for the night with tax for what is a 1 star hotel

Certainly, this is not the type of service we strive to provide. We do take all feedback to heart and will diligently continue to work to improve to be able to deliver the type of experience you have come to expect from Hilton.

Probably -- the front desk staff are very helpful, and a couple of times I saw bags stashed behind the desk, presumably for the same reason as yours. And unless the hotel is full, you'll probably be able to check in early. The breakfast is pretty expensive, but it's a good way for you to pass the time until check in.

They'll pick you up at any terminal. Just call or text them and they'll let you know where to wait. Unless they happen to be there already dropping of for picking up, it'll be about 20-25 minute wait.
