The Pendry San Diego garners acclaim for its attentive service and exceptional amenities, which include stylish rooms and diverse dining options. Nestled in a central location near Petco Park and downtown attractions, the hotel receives high marks for its vibrant and elegant atmosphere, although the noise level and room decor have received some criticism. The cleanliness of the hotel is consistently praised, yet opinions on value vary, with some guests highlighting great value and others pointing out additional fees and overpricing concerns.

We just left after staying a night at the Pendry and can’t say enough about this hotel. We came in for a concert and wanted something within walking distance to Petco Park. Upon arrival at the hotel, they offered valet parking for $55 which was a bargain given parking nearby for the concert. The front desk staff was able to get us into our room early and the room itself was absolutely beautiful! The bed was super comfortable and the shower was amazing. We ordered room service after our concert and it was excellent (burger and club sandwich). The cost is within range of what we’d expect to pay for a hotel as close to Petco Park/the Convention center and we would definitely stay here again. A++++!

I recently stayed at Pendry San Diego with some friends, and it was the exact getaway we needed. The hotel is gorgeous and located in a prime location in Gaslamp San Diego. It is very easily accessible to the airport or freeway pending if you are flying or driving in (also very conveniently located to the San Diego Convention Center if that is the nature of your visit). This was the first time I stayed at a hotel since COVID-19, as you can imagine I had a lot of apprehension traveling and staying at a hotel during this time, but from the moment I walked into the hotel the staff went above and beyond to ensure my group felt safe, secure and healthy. All of the staff were wearing face coverings (and mandated guests wear face coverings while in public areas). The staff maintained respectable social distance; they were also SO friendly and accommodating while doing so. The hotel had hand sanitizer stations located all over, as well as, signs indicating safety measures for the guests to follow. When we got to our room, not only was it gorgeous and had floor to ceiling windows overlooking the city and water, it was spotless; you could tell they took extra care to make sure the room was thoroughly clean. The room was equipped with everything you could possibly need and more, they had a full size wireless speaker in there and for someone who loves music, this was a HUGE bonus. I loved the full size high-end toiletries and the AMAZING Lunya robes in the room. They also had a welcome “safety” care pack waiting for us on the credenza that included, sanitation wipes, hand sanitizer, face coverings etc. I also can’t write a review and fail to mention the shower in the rooms, one of the most amazing showers I’ve ever experienced! The shower was full glass all the way around (there was a curtain you can wrap around the glass if you prefer privacy), the shower had two showerheads, one of which was a rain shower, SO relaxing!
During our stay we visited, and dined at every outlet that was open at the time. While at the pool each day, we reserved a day bed for our group, which I highly recommend to keep as a home base for your group, especially if you want your own space. The pool did a great job of keeping a lively and fun atmosphere, while still maintaining a clean environment for everyone during this time. All the staff and fellow guests were very respectful, and made sure they kept distance between each other. The pool was playing great music, and had amazing service! I also have to say, for someone who frequents many hotels pools, their food and cocktails were exceptional. Some of the items I highly recommend: watermelon margaritas with tajin salt rim, the lemon detox cocktail, sashimi, beyond burger sliders, coconut ceviche (I am not vegan by any means, one of my friends wanted this, and it was surprisingly delicious!). Jenny and JD at the pool were so friendly and accommodating, they continuously checked in with our group to ensure we had everything we need.

My wife and I recently stayed at the Pendry San Diego and can't wait to come back. The hotel has a great aesthetic to it immediately upon entering and has enough going on in the property itself, it is perfect for the staycation away from home. The location is also perfect as it is in the middle of the Gaslamp district so you are within walking distance of other restaurants, shops, a few blocks from the convention center, Petco Field and a CVS right across the street.

The room was clean and roomy. The shower itself is a sight to behold and to use. As a warning, the shower is right in view of the room which can be covered with an outside curtain, so that may be something to consider if you are bringing family or friends.

The heated pool is a perfect spot to relax, swim, and enjoy some of the drinks at the bar. Also did I mention there is a champagne vending machine near the lobby. Just ask the front desk to purchase a token.

We indulged in Brunch at Provisional and were absolutely thrilled with the drinks and food. The Provisional breakfast sandwich was just the right size for you all avocado lovers out there. For dinner we ate at Lionfish, their seafood restaurant which hit the spot with their lobster carpaccio. In total they have 5 eating options just within the property so every palate can be accommodated. Some things to note, due to the Covid-19 restrictions they do close at 10 p.m. and may only have limited seating. But in room dining is available until 11 p.m.

We come to San Diego often, but Pendry has quickly become our favorite. While a bit more pricey than other options, I can guarantee that the price is reflected in the service and quality provided.

This hotel stay was wonderful. The location is great for walking around and it is cheap to Uber/Lyft to nearby destinations such as Little Italy or Coronado Island (I am 8 months pregnant and walking takes a while at the moment). Even though it is in the Gaslamp/party district with lots of bars and busy night life, the hotel room was so quiet. The hotel restaurants are amazing and provided some of the best service we had in town. Lion fish is a romantic setting for a nice evening meal - I recommend the Beserk Sushi Roll and the chocolate cake with ice cream. Nasons bar was fun to watch football games with my husband and they even made me a delicious “mocktail”. We did a couples massage at the hotel spa and it was perfection. I would definitely stay here again given the prime location, great customer service, and the fancy feel of the entire stay!

Not happy with my stay at this hotel. I was in town for work and stayed at the Pendry with about 35 of my peers. The first night of our stay we gathered in the lobby to walk to dinner, and one of our guests slipped and fell in a pile of dog poop. Apparently there were three small piles that no one bothered to clean up. The person who fell ended up with dog poop all over her clothes and shoes, and was completely embarrassed. She also hit her head, elbow, and knee and was limping the next day. The hotel did not ask her to fill out an accident report and outside of a few random people asking how she was doing, they pretty much acted as if nothing happened. The hotel did offer to pay for her clothing to be dry cleaned, but then accidentally charged her for it! They did not offer to remove the room charges either, and I had to ask when I left if this would be possible. Fortunately they took the room charges off, but I can’t believe they didn’t offer to do so immediately.

The second night of our stay, the bass of the night club was SO LOUD I could not fall asleep until after 2am. I called the front desk and asked where the music was coming from, and they said it was from the night club (it was a Thursday night and I was attending a company meeting) and they could not turn the music/bass down. They did offer to change my room but what a PIA! I was in bed and in my pajamas at 10:30... changing rooms was not an option. I am also pregnant and would have loved to enjoy a nice, quiet eight hours of sleep.

Almost everything else was exceptional at the hotel but it was extremely disappointing how the Pendry handled the dog poop situation, and I was in disbelief on our last night that I was kept awake until 2am. We spend over $4500 at Nason’s that night and had 35 guests staying at the hotel... I expected better overall service for a large party.

Thank you for joining us at Pendry San Diego for your work visit, Ashley. I'm disheartened to read that your overall experience was lessened by the incidents you described. I understand that our Assistant Director of Front Office, Director of Rooms, and Security Supervisor all promptly connected directly with the guest regarding this very unfortunate incident in the lobby during a busy period. Additionally, I apologize that your evening did not meet expectations due to the neighboring nightclub. I encourage you to connect with us directly if you wish to further discuss any aspects of your stay, and I do hope we have an opportunity to welcome you back in the future. Respectfully, Michael O'Donohue General Manager

Located in the Gaslamp district of San Diego, the Pendry stands out as a boutique hotel in a sea of large hotel chains. The quaint fireplace adds character to a very small lobby and reception area is remnant of bygone eras with its wood-laden counter and appears to be an old bar. The Pendry is a mix of old and new and in some areas it works, but mostly I think they could have done a better job.

I can’t help but compare this hotel which is in the list of American Express’ Fine Hotels and Resorts to other hotels we’ve stayed. The Grand Hyatt in DC for example is a great standard to compare US hotels.

Let’s start with service, hmmmmm the reception though the staff is nice are not as warm and welcoming and maybe that’s a result of the dark and dingy feel of the reception area. They could modernize it and add more lights and colors, a little more hip sound. In the restaurant Provisional our receptionist did not even smile or greet us a “good morning” and coldly asked for our room and name.

The elevators are dark as well and as you exit and walk towards your room, the hallway truly tells the story of the age of the building. There is a musty smell and reminds me of the joke “this smells like an old folks home”. How do you resolve that? How about adding your custom scent. After all they promote “Min NY”, a fragrance company based in New York.

The rooms are small and made smaller by the large glass-enclosed shower but it was adequate. It was clean and amenities were fine. The bed was the highlight of the room, it was hard yet comfortable to sleep in and the pillows were the right softness though it smelled.

We dined at Lionfish, they’re Asian inspired seafood restaurant and the food was impeccably fresh. Breakfast at the beautifully designed “Provisional”is a feast for the eyes with its interior design but my breakfast steak was dry, the pastry basket was not freshly baked at all.

The pool experience it seems to be the worst experience of the whole trip. Located on the third floor it is small and good luck finding a place to seat. They only have a limited number of lounge seats and by 10 am they are all taken. If you’re a hotel guest chances are you won’t enjoy the pool. They’re recommendation was to get there by 8 am and leave your stuff to reserve them. The rest of the pool is a club and you need to reserve the lounge chairs or cabanas at a minimum fee. It may be the hip place to hang out for millennials but if you have kids or need some quiet time with the pool it fails miserably. And for safety reasons, during COVID times with the growing Delta variant, no one was wearing a mask. We were actually scared.

If you want a relaxing stay, The Pendry is definitely not the place to go but if you feel like a Vegas weekend minus the gambling and smoking, this feels like a hotel in the old town of Vegas.

Having spent a life of traveling for work and staying in numerous hotels worldwide, I am truly impressed with the Pendry in San Diego. From the very chill music that permeates the building to the incredibly friendly staff, this is a location not to be missed. If you do stay there , be sure to check out the roof top pool and one of their “rooftop Spritzes” a super refreshing cocktail. I could go on and on, but you should just come by and check it out for yourselves!

Service was excellent. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. They were attentive and it felt like they really cared to make our stay the best they could. Wish I could of tried more and stay longer to give a more in depth experience. The food was average good but you are able to find the same food at a better price point. The rooms were modern and comfortable. however, you are able to here the street noise and the night party guest returning to there rooms.

From the moment we drove up to Valet we were treated like special guests. All the employees are beyond helpful, friendly, and treat you with class.

The hotel location is great. It is close to several restaurants, things to do, the bay (ferry to Coronado), Petco Park, and much more.

The room is unique with large shower in the middle and views of the city. The bed is super comfortable. If you forgot anything, they have items to purchase in the room. There was also a safety kit with sanitizer, mask, and hand wipes that was a great touch.

Great experience all around. We do recommend and will be back.

I have been a fan and frequent visitor of Pendry since opening. I can not say enough wonderful things about this property and its associates (Kayla at the Front Desk, Hotel Manager Victorio Gonzalez, Elizabeth Blanco at Provisional, JD and Jenny at Pool House).
Associates, location, design, amenities, dining options and quality are what have made me a loyal patron. I was delighted to see all associates utilizing PPE, hand sanitizer stations at every turn, guests wearing masks in public areas and each room provided a mask/sanitizing wipe care package, never felt safer.
Keep up the wonderful work!!
