Nestled close to the ocean, the Pacific Terrace Hotel receives accolades from many guests for its spotless rooms and well-kept facilities, with an atmosphere that exudes elegance despite some opinions of a dated decor. The hotel's location is often celebrated for its beach proximity and ocean views. While most guests find the hotel provides good value, there are mixed feelings about pricing considering the additional fees. The rooms' cleanliness and space earn rave reviews, as do the hotel's amenities and the staff's commendable service, which guests find both friendly and helpful.

We stayed here for four nights while attending a Skills n Talents swim camp and loved this place.
Here's why:
The junior suite was extremely comfortable, great bed, partial ocean view really had a good stretch of ocean, friendly efficient staff from front desk to valet.
But, in my mind, the real reason to stay here is Brenda, greatest head sever ever in the restaurant AND the granola. It's the best anywhere. I always have yogurt granola and fruit and their chef has somehow taken it to a new level. Brenda made sure we had everything we needed and is just a friendly great personality.
The balcony is a good size and perfect for drying swim things. Hotel towels are perfect. Oh, and very, very important, they have a selection of real newspapers every morning!!!!! I'm a retired reporter and this was heaven. So few hotels offer newspapers now and this to me was the biggest luxury of all!!!!
The room is beautiful, sorry I didn't take a better photo. Bed is amazing.

I loved this hotel and would come back again. It is very elegantly decorated and well maintained. The staff were pleasant and eager to please. I enjoyed the breakfast buffet and we also ordered room service which was very good. The location is also amazing with the beach just steps away and views of beautiful sunsets even from the deck our partial ocean view room. They have sand toys available for kids which was probably the highlight of my sons stay. It was easy to get to the Zoo and Sea World from here - about 10-15 min. The parking is pricey but it is a secured underground lot and includes valet service so I think it was priced accordingly. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

My husband and I just stayed 3 nights with our two young children at the hotel in one of their partial ocean view suites. We had a great time and would definitely stay here again. The hotel did a great job of making everything feel as clean as possible with hand sanitizer stations everywhere and I always saw all staff and most guests wearing masks. I cleaned the room when we got there, with covid going on and I’m a clean freak, and when wiping it down myself was very impressed how clean the room was. The customer service was great by the pool and it was nice they have everything you need for the beach to use (they sanitize between uses). Only thing I could say was the food choice menu they use doesn’t have much variety we felt, with no kids menu or kid friendly foods and the food is expensive for what it is. We decided to eat other places after one meal there. Other than that great clean hotel and would recommend!

Everything about Pacific Terrace was exceptional. From the first call for reservations, to the check out, everyone did their utmost to make sure this trip went perfectly. The man who made my reservation needs a standing ovation for answering my multitude of questions and helping me find the best room location and price. I was seriously annoying! I came with my two sons to spread the ashes of a sibling born in SD and I really needed everything about the trip to be as stress free and perfect as possible. Well, the hotel staff went above and beyond. But I also think they go above and beyond for every guest that walks through the door. We had an ocean front room, but the partial views would still be wonderful. Just decide if you want to see the sunrise or sunset from your room. Stay on the third floor for sweeping Pacific views. Note: there is a resort fee and fee for parking on site. We were able to save a bit by finding street parking. The resort fee and the parking fee is very typical for San Diego hotels so expect it at most places. The pool temp was wonderful so bring your suit even in the cooler months. Pool staff was attentive to ck for drink orders. Take time to sit next to the fire pits in the evening as the suns sets over the pacific. Wake up to coffee on a private balcony, surfers, and ocean waves. A few steps away is the boardwalk and beach. Anything you need is within walking distance and San Diego’s best sites are all a mere 15 minutes away. This is my new favorite SD hotel. Could I please live here?

The hotel is beautifully appointed and the staff was excellent, friendly and attentive. I have stayed here both before and during Covid. I noticed no lapse in amenities and experience. The rooms were spotless and although there was no turn-down service, housekeeping was quite attentive to bringing additional necessities during our stay.
All of our requests were promptly and pleasantly provided. The location is prime on Pacific Beach and the hotel is loaded with needed supplies like bikes and boogie boards, etc.

This is a small but posh hotel at the north end of Pacific Beach, enough out of the way to feel a little secluded but close enough to everywhere to still feel connected. It’s close to two staircases down to the beach, and it’s close both to La Jolla and to Mission Bay for all kinds of fun activities. The hotel had bikes to loan, tons of nearby restaurants (they outsource their room service to a couple of them), plus there are lots of little scooters you can rent from bird or wheels.co. Everything was being wiped down constantly and everyone was adhering to the rules about masks in the hallways and lobby, except for some kids coming from the pool one time. We scootered to the nearby CVS and Ralphs for a few forgotten supplies, and the front desk hooked us up with $5 off Zoo tickets (also really clean and not too crowded). The jacuzzi suite (Coastal Living Suite) was amazing (room for two in the tub), and Sara at the pool/bar was very friendly and made us feel very welcome.

Had the pleasure of staying in PB for two full weeks over the holiday period, and The Pacific Terrace was a terrific home base. This was an absolute gem of a hotel and their team were genuine and professional as a whole. The staff were what I would call ‘rock stars’, especially the great folks at the front desk, such as Lloyd. Each time we exited or came back, always an acknowledgement and smile, and always making us feel welcome. This property is pristine inside and out, and just up the stairs from the beach. The rooms were quiet and spotless. The house-keeping team does a standout job and keeps everything in great shape and with a high level of cleanliness. You can easily see the pride they have in this property. Hungry around 4:00pm? Well, the Pacific Terrace has freshly baked cookies to fill your void, both to the right of the front desk and in the restaurant. They were totally delicious and highly addictive! The staff who cover the restaurant and pool/lounge areas were also wonderful, such as Keira. Solid recommendations by the staff on the local food hot spots were plentiful, and the restaurants suggested were always muy bien. This area is quite hip for all ages, and as well for foodies. Amazing and authentic taco shops, and various other restaurant types were sensational, mostly within walking distance. There is no shortage of things to see and do. As a hotel guest, your nominal daily resort fee allows you to use their wide array of fun stuff, such as: boogie boards, sun chairs, towels, and all kinds of other gear and toys for the beach. The setting is picturesque, and make sure you catch the stunning sunsets. They call it the Golden State for a reason, the sunsets are truly spectacular!! You can see them from your western facing room and balcony, or just outside the hotel doors. Already making plans to stay here again. You don’t find a place like this very often with such a high level of service, coupled with the care of the esteemed staff. The Pacific Terrace easily merits a score of 10/10. Be sure to book this hotel on your next trip to the Pacific Beach area of San Diego, you won’t be disappointed. I honestly don’t write reviews all that often to be honest, but it’s a pleasure to give The Pacific Terrace such a high grade; they certainly deserve it. Until the next time......

We stayed two nights in a "full ocean view king junior suite" to celebrate our anniversary, and I am glad we did! Our balcony overlooked the boardwalk and the beach below; great for relaxing and people watching. The room was very big and comfortable, and Covid-19 cleanliness meticulously followed, as was the requirement for face masks, which made us feel safe. The food was good, and the staff at every position was very friendly and helpful. We loved our stay and would gladly stay there again.

We stayed here for Thanksgiving 6 years ago and loved it so much we decided to go again this year. We stayed a couple of nights in a partial ocean view room on the main floor. It’s patio opens up to the patio and pool area and that was great for easy access to the pool and boardwalk. We then upgraded to the St Lucia suite because our 3 daughters are teenagers and the 2 queen was a little small for us.

We will definitely pay the difference and book the larger suite next time. We had a nice table we could all fit and eat at (and since you can’t eat indoors at restaurants in California due to covid this was nice!) and a pull out sofa and still had a great view. The bathroom was so much bigger and it was nice to have a large jetted tub.

They have bikes, boogie boards, chairs, and beach toys all available to borrow. We rented wet suits down the street also.

This is our favorite beach property by far! My husband and I decided next time we need a romantic get away we will come here alone.

This hotel was fantastic! They truly handled all the Covid-19 restrictions great. Even though it would've been nice to have had some of the normal amenities that were closed due to covid (hot tub, housekeeping, etc...) it was still a wonderful experience. This felt more like a resort than a hotel. The staff was so friendly and very accommodating. Every special request was honored with no hassle. Everything in hotel and on the grounds was cleaned immaculately. The room was simply perfect. We had the Coastal Suite which had 2 queen beds and a pull out couch with partial view. It was beautiful, big, clean, and the bathroom was huge and had a jacuzzi tub. The decor was classy and the beds were the most comfortable I have ever slept on. All the pillows were like clouds and the cute elephant made out of the towels sitting on the bed was a nice touch. Plenty of charging stations available throughout room. Nice living area with chair, tables, couch that pulls out and a huge TV. Kitchen area has dinette table and chairs, mini fridge, mini bar, microwave, sink, keurig coffee maker, and wine rack. Only thing is no bottled water in room you have to purchase from lobby which I found annoying for the price. We had a big balcony with outdoor furniture and a decent partial view of the ocean and because we stayed on the south side we could view the pier as well. If you don't need a suite get a full view room. One of the nicest amenities is the free use of bikes, beach towels, chairs, umbrellas, and beach toys. The pool is not huge but nice and plenty of lounge chairs, umbrellas, and they also have cabanas which great. They also have fire pits and eating areas outside the pool. Palm trees everywhere so you feel like your in paradise. There's poolside bar and snack service as well. Drinks were reasonable and really good and don't miss out on the 2 for 1 happy hour between 4-5pm. Overall experience was a 10 out of 10 and I would stay here again in a heartbeat. We recommended this place to some friends and now they're staying the. Thanks Pacific Terrace for everything!

We felt safe in Pacific Beach walking to restaurants and along the broad walk. It's easy to get a taxi/Uber/Lift or use your own vehicle. The garage below the hotel is secured. We also borrowed bikes to ride completely around Mission Bay. Lots of fun. Definitely recommend this hotel.
