I was doubious about staying at the Dolphin. The main thing that changed my mind was not just that it is one of the most affordable motels in San Diego, but that it's proprietor takes the time to read all these reviews and actually responds to many of them. That is the mark of someone who truely cares about his...

Thank you Mr & Mrs Walsh for your praise and recommendation. It is wonderful guests like yourselves that keep us going My dedicated desk clerk JEB informed me that all went well during the blackout that happened during your stay. Although, it did worry me a bit All our staff here at the Dolphin are just down to earth people...

This is an incredibly friendly and welcoming family run motel in a great location. The staff were very attentive and went out of their way to be helpful. We would have no qualms about staying here again.

Driving into the car park of this place I had that oh no feeling but I was pleasantly surprised. The rooms as pointed out are a bit small but if you want extra space book a room with a single bed and a queen which makes a big difference for not much more cost. The room was clean and made...

By now you have read all the reviews and the only thing I can say is "I'll be Back". Yes its older, not as pretty as most other hotels in the area, that start at twice the price. I Stayed 3 enjoyable days at this hotel and spent several hours on the deck, meeting and conversing with my next door...

Greetings and thank you spectre521 for taking the time to write us a review You have us to a "T" with the descriptions Your absolutely right! All my staff here are down-to-earth people The one thing we are not is a luxury lodge In these economic times, the best sense is to take a longer vacation (because of higher stress),...

I stayed here one night on 10/25/11 and what could have been a very stressful stay in San Diego ended up being very smooth. Personal business took me from Texas to San Diego and before I knew it I was booking a flight out to CA with a one-day notice. A friend suggested I stay at the Dolphin Motel since...

Stayed at the Dolphin Motel for a couple of nights as part of a roadtrip through California, which it's perfect for. Luxurious it is not, but for this price and purpose you're primarily looking for security and cleanliness and the Dolphin delivers on both of these 100%. What sets it apart, though, are the people who run it. Incredibly friendly,...

Its good to hear from you Ross! One block off Harbor Drive across from the waterfront on Shelter Island. A couple of miles from the airport with easy access to the downtown. Delightful setting with many good restaurants from one to four blocks away. The motel is basic, but if you don't demand luxury, is extremely nice. Clean white bedspreads, new carpet, plenty of fluffy new towels,...

We stayed here on our tour of Arizona, California & Nevada - 29th September 2011 - Right from checking In this had the feel of Friendliness..the receptionist could not have been more helpful or efficient - the recommendation to stroll across the road to have supper at the cafe overlooking the harbour was just "ace" - the freshly caught White...

A small, old-fashioned, family run motel, but super clean, comfortable and affordable. What sets them apart is their outstanding service. The staff went out of their way to help me with other stuff: bike rental, suggested bike routes, restaurant suggestions, taxi reservations, boarding pass print-out, etc. It was like having a concierge in a fancy hotel. I have stayed there...

A basic motel close to the airport & port, but has a very welcoming atmosphere and you get the feeling you ARE welcome. Small room, with a fridge and folding table, and a new LCD TV. There's really no need for anything else. Small free breakfast, good wifi service and a scale that can help before heading to the airport......
