We stayed at the Towneplace Suites under two bookings - one that I redeemed points for and another that I paid for since the latter half of the week I was there for work. Staff at the Towneplace Suites were great - they had called me earlier in the week to confirm my credit card information and then let me know that they would be able to keep me in the room for the entire stay, which meant I didn’t have to pack up in the middle of the week. Love that customer service!
They have breakfast everyday and for the week we were there, it was a slightly different protein every morning. My favorites were the English muffin sandwiches. Coffee was good and I loved that they had yogurt and fruit too.
The room was great - comes with a kitchenette, which we didn’t quite use to the fullest, but it was helpful for storing and reheating leftovers. The hotel is decently located, it’s walkable to Little Italy and the many restaurants there. I liked it so much that I actually have another booking there for another work trip later in the fall. A+ stay for sure.

This pleasant, unpretentious, well designed hotel has truly excellent staff!
It is an evidently just (and very nicely) renovated extended stay hotel that we (seven members of our team) ended up staying in because all closer hotels to the convention center were either full or exorbitantly priced by the time we booked. It is a 20 minute walk, fyi, 8 minutes by taxi to the convention center.
A pretty decent self-service breakfast is included. But it’s the staff that make the real difference.

Hotel tried to open in 2018 and glad to be back in summer 2024. Good location, remember that parking nearby is chargeable. Hotels with spacious rooms, equipped with kitchen with everything you need, large fridge, microwave, very comfortable beds, great bathroom with products provided, good intercontinental breakfast with eggs, bacon or sausages or hamburgers, waffles, jam, yogurt, Nutella, cereals, and importantly provide some gluten-free breakfast on request. Positives - the room was very clean ! Negatives - The room was very small. Due to Covid, there was only a cold breakfast which you picked up in a box in the lobby and ate in your room. Coffee was undrinkable; the yogurt, bagels etc. were okay. Because of all the breakfast containers, we accumulated a lot of trash (the hotel didn't appear to have any recycling). Maid service was only every 3 days, so we left our wastebasket outside our door and someone emptied it daily. Self parking was $25 a day in the hotel next door and there was No valet parking. The parking garage is horrible for a mid-sized SUV. The turns on the ramps were very tight, sometimes necessitating backing and filling to get up to the parking floors or down to the exit. Recommend you park elsewhere. Several times when we went to the Gaslight district, we didn't feel very safe walking back late at night to the hotel. The hotel has no maps of the downtown area or tourist info, so make sure you print your own before arriving.

I had never stayed in this hotel before so it was my first experience and I definitely don't plan on returning back to this hotel. First after I checked in I went to the front desk and when I got there no one was there. When she came back after a long while she said she was moving her car. That is not something you do on the clock working. Especially when you are by yourself at the front desk. The next thing is the room I was in smelled and the floor was dirty like no one vacuumed it a d if they did it was not noticeable that they did. My washcloths had some sort of red marks on them so I felt as if they were not clean if they were they need to pull stained towels out of their inventory or bleach them better. I had called down to the front desk asking for a toothbrush and the night Auditor said he would bring it as there robot was down not working. I waited 20 minutes and no toothbrush. I was tired a d wanted to go to bed. I called after waiting he said he was busy give him 10 minutes and he would bring it or I could go get it but I had a two year old and was in my pj's I waited another 20 to 30 min and I finally just went to the front desk. He had my toothbrush at the front desk and I found him on a personal call that was non work related as that person was on speaker phone. This is not professional in my opinion at all. The last thing they need to change is there needs to be safety latches in the doors for 2 year Olds who know how to open doors that could be a dangerous and scary situation especially if they wake up while parents are sleeping. I will not be returning to this hotel. They left a bad taste in my mouth.

Spacious, very clean and well equipped room with a kitchenette, microwave and big refrigerator. The amenities in the room look new and our room has 2 queen-sized beds which are super comfortable. Breakfast is included in the room price and we appreciate very much that the hotel has coin laundry for us to wash our clothes. The hotel is located in a quieter part of downtown, and is within short walk to take buses or trolleys to explore the city. We took public transport to shopping in outlet malls located outside the Mexican border.

This was a real letdown from our last TownPlace suites we had in Oregon. Most of the front desk staff are indifferent at best and show little if an Marriott customer service skills we typically get at one of their properties. The area of the hotel location is sketchy at best and not one you want to go out after dark because of the aggressive homeless problem walking to down to gas lamp district 4 blocks away. The room was ok but the parking lot across street had two massive floodlight run all night long which shines into the window facing the street. So you think it is 9am instead of 3 in the morning. The hotel does not require masks but yet their cheesy breakfast is still blocked off so that you must order off a sheet and someone pulls a muffin or coffee for you and then puts it in a box. So stupid and makes no sense. The front door is locked 7/24 so that tells you about the neighborhood. If your key does not work or you are checking in for the first time and thus won't have a key card - you may or may not get in as the front desk staff tend to ignore their customers and are too busy chatting with each other. I would not go back regardless of the savings.

Really loved this hotel. Everything was spotless. It’s downtown location is perfect. It’s pretty new or at least looks it. The sheets, towels and pillows were bright white and felts super soft and brand new. The staff was absolutely lovely at check in and helpful and efficient (way more than a lot of fancy hotels) throughout my stay. All around it was an excellent experience.

Large and clean room, breakfast changing every day, nice personnel. Too bad the neighbourhood where I was not feeling really safe to walk around. I think it is though a good option in SD for a reasonable price and also well positioned to visit the different parts of the city

Great quick stay. We were a bit concerned when we pulled up. It's downtown San Diego after all. But once inside you're whisked away. Heather was absolutely wonderful. She made us feel very welcome, and as though she had known us forever. She sent Cesear to our room with cookies for the kids, and made sure our needs were promptly tended to. Above and beyond. The only downside of this hotel, is the parking structure (I was fully stressed out navigating it). The room has a perfectly sized kitchenette, with a medium sized refrigerator with ice maker, microwave, dishwasher, utensils, coffee maker, lots of USB charging ports, great working A/C and comfy beds.
