I did a lot of research to find a good deal for a clean, safe place to stay in San Diego and Trip Advisor was very helpful. We were driving down from LA to go to Sea World, staying over and hitting the Wild Animal Park the next day. As a family on a budget, the amusement parks were expensive enough, we just needed a basic place to stay that was preferably, not in the ghetto or frequented by drug dealers. Through AAA, I found this Quality Inn, it's about 10 miles from Sea World, a very easy drive east on the 8. The front desk was friendly and efficient, we checked in with no problems. The room was very clean with a big soft king size bed. The room also came with a microwave and a refrigerator which was not expected, but much appreciated. The continental breakfast, besides pastries, juice and coffee also featured cereal and milk which was great for my son. For the $67 AAA rate, it fulfilled all of our basic needs. There was also a small pool that we didn't get to try out. I recommend this motel highly for budget-minded travelers.

Good value budget hotel, close to Mission Valley area i.e. restaurants, theaters, shopping. San Diego attractions all a short drive away. Room was very clean and bath room appeared to have been recently remodeled as it looked all new with nice tile. Nice size room with a small sofa. Hotel also provided breakfast. Although next to freeway, did not hear freeway noise in our room opposite side of freeway.

Our son and daughter live in San Diego. We found it when it was a Quality Inn. We have stayed there enough that the front staff know us by name.

They have recently remodeled the inn, changing (improving) the dining area, re-doing all the rooms including the bathrooms. As a veteran re-modeler, I am most impressed that they have "down lights" over all the beds for night time reading. This eliminates the nightstand lights which in other places where I have stayed have a problem with the switch, the light bulb is burned out, or the shade is torn.

The only negative is the parking. It is rather narrow when you drive an extended cab pickup.

In October I had booked a room at this hotel, I thought, as a Buy Two stays, Get One free promotion. Prior to my trip I read the fine print of the promotion and realized that a stay at Rodeway did not count toward the promotion. So I cancelled my room and booked at the Comfort Inn near Sea World (who I would give 4 stars to). Last month as I was reviewing my credit card statements I noticed that I was charged for the room at Rodeway. I initially contacted Choice Hotels regarding my concerns, they referred me back to the hotel itself, saying they all were independently owned. There are several Rodeways in San Diego. When I called this hotel I was told they did not have a record of me having a reservation there. I contacted Choice Hotels again and was told that I infact did have the right hotel. I called back, and then was told I did have a reservation there, but never cancelled. I explained that I did cancel. Management did not budge even though I cancelled and never stayed at their hotel. It all felt very shady to me. I will dispute it through my creditcard company but at this point that is all I can do. So now I am out a nights stay, when I never stayed there! I would not trust this hotel with my creditcard, there are plenty of other options in the San Diego area. Since I did stay at the Comfort Inn near San Diego, I did meet the requirements of the promotion, and did receive a free night. So basically I am breaking even, with a lesson learned! As a side note I attempted to post this on the Choice Hotels web site but they would not post it. I strongly recommend not staying here, it is not worth the aggravation!

If you like to be bit in your sleep this is the hotel for you. We booked the room for two nights to go to thee charger game. The price was right and the room looked nice but smelled a little funny when you first walked in. At about 530 in the morning I got up to get a drink and my boyfriend asked me how I was sleeping cause he was itchy. I thought he was being paranoid but he started showing me the bumps he had all over. He got out of the bed and we started looking around and found bugs! BED BUGS! All over his side of the bed. We called the front desk and they said we had to wait till the manager got there at 730. After waiting two hours and showering we got to speak to the manager.

He insisted that they had never had and issue and refused to refund my money because we had stayed in the room and if there really was bed bugs we should have noticed them earlier. I showed him pictures I had taken of them and yet he still refused to believe it. I told him to come to the room with me to see for himself and he would not. I contacted orbitz who I had booked the room through and they called the hotel. The manager said housekeeping had found nothing in the room and it was perfectly clean. It was not there was bugs!

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. We left immediatly and went down the street to the ramada which lucky for us let us check in at 8am! Horrible experience. Its something I've heard of but never would have thought I would ever experience. AWFUL!

I want to thank you for bringing this issue to my attention. I looked into the issue of bed bugs immediately when it was brought to my attention. Within 24 hours of the incident, we took necessary actions to resolve the problem in the room. I can assure you no other rooms have this problem. We always take preventative measure to make sure bedbugs are not in our hotel. I apologize about your less than satisfying experience and I hope you can consider giving us another chance.

I've stay at a couple of different hotels on hotel circle and would pay more than $100 per day but I must say this is the best looking room I've stayed at. It was clean, spacious, comfortable. And peaceful. The mattress was so comfortable. We loved our stay

We had a delightful experience at this hotel. The room was very clean and had everything we needed. It was close to the Metro line so that saved time and money--no need to ask for directions! Breakfast selection could be improved but overall we enjoyed our stay and will definitely consider this hotel on our next trip to San Diego.

We stayed here for two days and had no problems. The breakfast was very good. We couldn't ask for more choices on the list. The location off the 8 was perfect for us and centrally located. I'd definitely stay here again.

I am amazed how everything is brand new. I stayed here last year when it was Quality Inn and it was horrible. There are new owners and it looks like most of the renovations are complete.

The picture DOES NOT look like the motel. The motel looks better. I had great service and my room was excellent. I guess this place has been a "work in progress" over the last year and it has been paying off.

Breakfast was good. Only thing that stood out was a waffle machine. Everything else was the usual for motel breakfasts The actual design of the breakfast room was impressive.

Internet signal was above par compared to other motels Ive stayed at. Definitely high speed but I did have trouble figuring out how to enter the password.

Location is hard to get to off the freeway the first time but still in a good neighborhood.

Overall, I am very impressed. I would stay here again. It looks like they are still working on some of the motel tho

We'd planned our vacation for months. With our busy days, all we needed was a room and decent bed. And I have to be honest and say this hotel has those two things. But after that! The bathtub, floor and stool had obviously not been cleaned properly. The room didn't smell but the moldy "swamp cooler" did! (it was an evaporative cooler - not an air conditioner) When we woke the next morning, it was like we were camping out in the morning dew.

We knew we were in trouble when we saw the "Help Wanted" sign in the office window. None of the employees seemed to have the power to change, fix, replace anything about anything. I heard the words "I don't care" at least 10 times in the 12 hours we were forced to spend here.

Choice Hotels reservations had promised a day-of 6pm cancellation AND a room guarantee. Upon arrival the hotel staff and the 800 reservation agents started blaming me and refused to honor either promise. I'll never believe another word out of Choice Hotels again. We stayed the one night they forced us to pay for - then we left quickly. We wouldn't touch the meager "breakfast" in such a dirty hotel - cellophaned muffins and off-brand Cheerios.

The mother and daughter checking out before me were complaining that their credit card had been charged twice. After 10 minutes of arguing, the employee finally agreed to credit them back. How does that happen in the first place??

Adobe Falls Road seemed to be a safe street - busy apartments across the street, houses further up the hill. The location to downtown is ideal. On that same block, I'd recommend the Days Inn that seemed newer and definitely had all the business.

Oh - and the wireless Internet does work: we found a 4-star hotel for around $100 and forever swore off "budget hotels".
