My wife and I like staying at the Omni San Diego Hotel when we go to San Diego for baseball games (Go CUBS!). The Omni is conveniently located and easy to get to. The staff is amazingly friendly. I do have one comment regarding the west-facing rooms. The air conditioning does not keep up with the afternoon heating. The views are great but the lack of a cool room is not so great. Will I stay here again? Yes. Just not in a west-facing room. Oh, Kudos to Sofia at Reception. She is a true asset to her employer.

Hotel's Favourite
Went to see the Mariners and Padres two game series in early June. We had seen many baseball games there in the past but had stayed at different hotels. I will only stay at the Omni now...I'm hooked! The most convenient set up I've ever seen. There's a pedestrian bridge from the fourth floor directly into Petco Park. It's awesome. Our room was nice as were every hotel employee we interacted with. Nice cozy restaurant on site plus big fun in the Gaslamp Quarter just outside the door. We will never stay anywhere else again when go to a ball game in San Diego.

Just stayed for four days. Originally I was given an old room where the carpet had large holes, wallpaper was peeling away from the baseboards, years of dust and grime were accumulated at the baseboards and carpet, the shelves in the bathroom were peeling wood. I asked for a newly remodeled room and staff was friendly and changed my room. Unfortunately, the entire hotel has a strong toxic smell of something that smelled like glue, construction noises occurred throughout the day, a noise at night (that I am still not sure what it was) could have possibly been from the multiple train tracks which are under the windows. There are no outdoor area to enjoy, most everything is closed due to the remodeling. The restaurant had very limited hours. The staff was super friendly and professional though so kudos to them.

Great spot in San Diego - the location is unbeatable. Across the street from the convention center, directly next door to Petco Park. You are also just a block away from the Gaslamp district with bars and restaurants. I was upgraded to a suite upon my arrival which was extremely spacious (sitting room, bedroom, etc). The beds were comfortable, as were the towels and hotel robes. The on-site restaurant and bar is small, but the food is great (and they do room service). There are always a lot of staff members available at the front desk.

The staff was very friendly and welcoming, they are very attentive from arrival to departure. The location is great for walking in the Gas Lamp District. The hotel has a walking bridge from the hotel to the ballpark. We will stay here again.

Biggest Tip: Just know the hotel is under renovation *at this time* and not all amenities are available. However, don't let that immediately turn you off. There are a lot of other positives to this hotel that warrant staying here while it's under construction. The location is great as it's connected to Petco Park for Padres fans who are coming in from who-knows-where to catch a game (yes, there are Padres fans outside of San Diego - I'm related to some of them - however, in late February a game is not on our itinerary). It's also right across from the San Diego Convention Center. The Gas Lamp District is also right there as well if you have not had enough from the Padres game or fellow conventioneers and need more active socialization. Despite all the action right under our feet, I don't hear much noise or disturbance that would keep us up or interfere with our need for quiet and solitude. With that being stated, it should be noted that this hotel is located smack-dab in the middle of a large city with an active military base, large port, and tons of construction going on. If you are noise sensitive I would advise as a precautionary measure to bring ear plugs. Personally, I don't need earplugs for the normal city noise, but some people may be sensitive.....just a heads up. It's not a deal breaker, just something to be aware of with any place you stay in greater San Diego. Now onto the food. There is cafeteria/grab-n-go in the Omni lobby and it has has a limited menu. The egg white and spinach breakfast burrito was really good. However, the ham and cheese croissant was lacking in quality and looked like something that a poor quality vending machine spat out at 7-11. The cafeteria also sells alcohol if you are so inclined; however, it you are looking a a real "bar vibe" you should go across the street. Maybe the Omni wants it that way????? Less drunks to cut off at closing time? I don't blame the Omni if that is their plan. After all, the Gas Lamp is steps away with all their late-night offerings and indulgences. Now onto the room. We are in a standard room with a king bed. Our window/patio faces the convention center. Thank God we can at least open the sliding glass door and get fresh air. This simple feature is disappearing as hotels close up any and all windows/doors for fear of lawsuits because of some dumb-@$$ throwing something onto people down below or jumping off the balcony. Sure, as all hotels age there is room for improvement and the Omni is not exempt. The current construction is addressing that. The bathrooms are a tad small and have a funky layout, but that in itself would not preclude me from staying here again. We appreciate the Omni staff as they bend over backwards to help guests. I hope management sees that as well. Bottom Line: Yes, I would stay here again. Just know that the hotel is under construction at the writing of this review.

Weird smells in hallways and lobby. Various issues with noise and functionality of fridge. Staff were very nice and responsive but for the money we paid I think we would stay elsewhere in the future. It is in on the edge of the gas lamp district.

Texts received letting us know pool area closed for refurbishment about a week or two ahead of arriving. Ok, not a deal breaker and appreciated the heads up but too late to change hotels. However, no one at check in told us we’d be put in a room above the construction area. We’re on 5th floor. Avoid it if you need to work from the room during the day. Starting early in the morning and thru the day it was loud jack hammering shaking the room. This should have been disclosed to us on check in because we had to work from the room much of the day. As far as the room, the doors to the bathrooms provide no privacy and there is a small table but no desk or desk chair if you need to work. One of the outlets near the bed do not work, check to make sure your phone is charging before you fall asleep. Rating is reflective of the lack of heads up for our room and price charged for this trip. I’m sure when it’s done it’ll be great however that’s of no impact to us. Also, in case you need it there are no late check outs here or they were unwilling to accommodate when I asked at check in. I will say it’s close to the train station, convention center and several places to eat nearby. Just not worth the price for the room we were placed in.

The staff were very friendly but the rooms were looking tired - especially the bathroom with mirror corroding, wood veneer old and scratched. The bathroom had a sliding door that left gaps either side meaning that there was no privacy at all. The bathroom wasn't cleaned properly with long hairs found in the shower. The noise from drilling and refurbishment was very loud and started at 8am in the morning, plus very limited places to eat in the hotel. Understand there is refurbishment, but the rooms should be severly discounted.
