It's a great little place. The rooms are modern and comfortable, including the bed. Water pressure and temp in the shower is great. AC works and keeps the room comfortable. The only issues I had and what keeps me from giving 5 of 5 is: 1. The internet is gratuitously slow and unreliable via wifi. When my cellphone hotspot with 5 devices running on it simultaneously is faster (WAY FASTER) than the hotel wifi in my room with just me accessing it, that says something. On top of that: 2. I don't understand why you prevent guests from using the TV's in the room to connect to our laptops and use it a second monitor or so that we can play movies from our streaming services or from hard copies / DVD's on our laptops. Yes, I can plug the HDMI cable into the back of the TV, but neither the remotes in the rooms nor the TV itself allows you to change the source so it's stuck on cable no matter what. If i have to chose between this property and another similarly prices property, I may have to go with the other property f sSDDR

I’ve stayed at worse Wyndham hotels. I’d give it a 2.5 if I could. You can only enter off of ash. If you set your expectations correctly this is a decent hotel for the cost. It’s a mile from Broadway Pier, so a good location to get to places. The room was pretty beat up. It could use a maintenance call for sure. I am 5 foot 11 inches and I had to duck for the shower to get under the shower head. The bathtub was small. The tub walls needed to be cleaned and the ceiling needed a coat of paint. My trash was not empty under the desk, so obviously this room wasting cleaned beforehand! Breakfast was good.

The good:

Renewed property, amazing location, good space and clean room.

The bad:
Still old and may require some extra maintenance (elevator), USELESS Internet throughout the property, not daily room cleaning, $19 USD daily parking fee, $300 USD deposit when checkin, the shower is way too low even for me being mexican short, had to bend to shower my head, wobbly or not firm mini bathtub floor, not good price / value spot.

And don't even dare to complain during the night shift since they'll say "Sorry I just arrived to my night shift, please complain tomorrow morning" or "we can change you to other room but may be after 2/3 PM so you need to wait or loose your vactation morning waiting for a room to be ready.
The property is renewed but still old, the room was nice and large, elevator is old and some maintenance may be helpful.

Beware first if you are planning to go driving since it would be a $19 USD parking fee per night.
USELESS Internet throughout the property
Breakfast is just barely OK.

DO NOT STAY HERE! Due to a flight cancelation we had to change our stay from Sunday through Friday to Monday through Saturday. While checking in I noticed our rate for Friday night jump from roughly $110 to $214 for the same room. I asked the lady working the front desk and I was told this was because I changed my reservation and they got more for the weekend. I asked if there was anything she could to to get us a better rate and she said no, but we could go to another hotel if we wanted. Out of curiosity, I looked online and could get a room for Friday for less than $190. I called Wyndham customer service and she quoted me the same $190 rate and said she couldn't change what the hotel had, but I should talk to the front desk. I tried, but the same rude woman told me she wasn't changing the rate.
Here are a few other things we noticed:
Bathtub was super small. There was no way even a small adult could take a bath. The showerhead was mounted about 5' off the ground.
They offer high-speed internet, but it was so slow we opted to use our cellphones instead.
On Tuesday morning I noticed that the breakfast area was out of cranberry or apple juice. It was not refilled until Friday.
The in breakfast area was missing.
Elevator doesn’t work. We had to carry our luggage up the stairs.
TP was not restocked.
There were 4 of us in room. Asked for extra towels and cleaning person seemed put out that we even wanted them to service our room.
No restocked toiletries. I had to go search out a room service cart to get more.
The window left open had been left open by a previous guest.
We had a small spill in our room one day and cleaned it up with some towels. We left dirty towels in bath in a corner on the floor and they were still there later.
There was outlet box covered by wallpaper.
They want almost $20 a day for parking.
The beds were not very comfortable.

Check-in around 7pm on Sunday night and only had two rooms to choose with both doors have serious safety issues but no maintenance crew onside to correct them. Concerned the safety throughout the whole night but breakfast is the best feature for the price of $82 in downtown San Diego. Will stay at the next door Best Western next time.

First of all we had to pay $19.00 for parking and could never park in front of our room. What is that all about?? Got to the room and there were two of us and there was one towel and no hand towels and wash cloths. Ask for more towels and hand towels and wash cloths. Came with one towel and two hand towels and said they don't have wash cloths. No coffee pot in the room and asked for one and they brought the little cup that fits in the coffee pot and still not coffee pot. Finally got coffee pot. Next morning after a shower the hair dryer was broke. With a wet head at 7:30 a.m. went to the office and was told by the lady that there was no one there to fix it. So dried my hair on the heater in the room. The traffic noise outside our window was very loud and annoying. The customer service was horrible. Gave it one star as the bed was comfortable.

Our room was nearly 3x the normal rate and we still had to pay additional for parking. There were no wash clothes provided for our shower. When I asked the maid for wash clothes, she did not understand me, I believe she spoke no English thus a language barrier.

I travel a lot on business and this was by far the worst hotel experience. My room was quite dirty to start with, especially the carpet, but the worst was the shower. The shower drain would spew sewer water every time person above me was taking a shower. Dirty water would eventually drain, but it made the bathroom and the entire room smell like sewer. I asked the front desk to send someone to fix the problem, but nobody came. You might expect such experience in a cheap hotel, but that room wasn't cheap at all.

Absolute garbage of a hotel/service establishment. Would not recommend for any reason. Here's why:

1) Upon checking in, the hotel staff was friendly. The parking lot was cramp but well monitored (downtown San Diego, so that's expected). The hotel clerk explained to me the procedure for check in, went over a security deposits and charges, and handed me my room key with parking pass. All's fine until checking into the room. Upon walking through the door, I got hit with a waft of bleach and underlying water damage. Looking around, we couldn't find any particular spots of water but it was disgusting. Inspecting the room further, pubic hair was found in the tub (which did not look like it was even clean). Stains were in various places on the carpet. It felt overall disgusting to be there, not to mention the itchy towels and stiff sheets against both beds.

2) The night went fine, visited downtown and came back to sleep fairly early. Within the night, there was a constant rattle from various rooms, people screaming and partying. I eventually had to call the front desk to where a much less accepting staff member responded with "don't worry about it". Needless to say, the problem was not handled for the remainder of the noisy night.

3) A few days afterwards, I was checking my bank statement to make sure my security deposit was returned before noticing over $635.00 GONE! I called within the next hour, to where a discouraging service employee let me know that they've charged me for TWO MATTRESSES. I asked for a refund and was told that nothing could be done.

With no notice, rude service, and a just plain awful experience, I would not suggest this hotel..
