Renewed property, amazing location, good space and clean room.
The bad:
Still old and may require some extra maintenance (elevator), USELESS Internet throughout the property, not daily room cleaning, $19 USD daily parking fee, $300 USD deposit when checkin, the shower is way too low even for me being mexican short, had to bend to shower my head, wobbly or not firm mini bathtub floor, not good price / value spot.
And don't even dare to complain during the night shift since they'll say "Sorry I just arrived to my night shift, please complain tomorrow morning" or "we can change you to other room but may be after 2/3 PM so you need to wait or loose your vactation morning waiting for a room to be ready.
The property is renewed but still old, the room was nice and large, elevator is old and some maintenance may be helpful.
Beware first if you are planning to go driving since it would be a $19 USD parking fee per night.
USELESS Internet throughout the property
Breakfast is just barely OK.
Here are a few other things we noticed:
Bathtub was super small. There was no way even a small adult could take a bath. The showerhead was mounted about 5' off the ground.
They offer high-speed internet, but it was so slow we opted to use our cellphones instead.
On Tuesday morning I noticed that the breakfast area was out of cranberry or apple juice. It was not refilled until Friday.
The in breakfast area was missing.
Elevator doesn’t work. We had to carry our luggage up the stairs.
TP was not restocked.
There were 4 of us in room. Asked for extra towels and cleaning person seemed put out that we even wanted them to service our room.
No restocked toiletries. I had to go search out a room service cart to get more.
The window left open had been left open by a previous guest.
We had a small spill in our room one day and cleaned it up with some towels. We left dirty towels in bath in a corner on the floor and they were still there later.
There was outlet box covered by wallpaper.
They want almost $20 a day for parking.
The beds were not very comfortable.
the rooms very spacious and clean the breakfast basic but rich
The reception girls speak Spanish and we loved feeling that confidence since we do not speak the language of the country
1) Upon checking in, the hotel staff was friendly. The parking lot was cramp but well monitored (downtown San Diego, so that's expected). The hotel clerk explained to me the procedure for check in, went over a security deposits and charges, and handed me my room key with parking pass. All's fine until checking into the room. Upon walking through the door, I got hit with a waft of bleach and underlying water damage. Looking around, we couldn't find any particular spots of water but it was disgusting. Inspecting the room further, pubic hair was found in the tub (which did not look like it was even clean). Stains were in various places on the carpet. It felt overall disgusting to be there, not to mention the itchy towels and stiff sheets against both beds.
2) The night went fine, visited downtown and came back to sleep fairly early. Within the night, there was a constant rattle from various rooms, people screaming and partying. I eventually had to call the front desk to where a much less accepting staff member responded with "don't worry about it". Needless to say, the problem was not handled for the remainder of the noisy night.
3) A few days afterwards, I was checking my bank statement to make sure my security deposit was returned before noticing over $635.00 GONE! I called within the next hour, to where a discouraging service employee let me know that they've charged me for TWO MATTRESSES. I asked for a refund and was told that nothing could be done.
With no notice, rude service, and a just plain awful experience, I would not suggest this hotel..
