Many travelers enjoy the Four Points By Sheraton San Diego Downtown Little Italy for its comfortable atmosphere, featuring clean rooms with cozy beds and modern decor, though some report poor room lighting and ventilation. The hotel's staff receives accolades for their friendly and professional service, enhancing guests' stays with personalized attention. Its location is popular for easy access to local attractions, despite some concerns about freeway noise. While cleanliness is a strong point, guests feel that the value is lessened by additional costs for parking and refreshments, and some suggest room amenities need an upgrade.

My family and I stayed here for an extended holiday in January 2020. The rates were affordable that we could spend nine nights and really take in the whole city. The staff were hospitable, especially Mitch at the desk and Blu at the bar. They take the time to make personalized recommendations about things to do and places to eat in the city. The rooms are what you would expect for the price, but clean and well kept despite our seven year old son's attempts to trash the place. The location is convenient to Little Italy, Balboa Park, and the Gaslamp District. It's safe to walk around at night.

Good hotel, helpful cheerful staff, and the rooms are well appointed. The hotel is not in the middle of anything, but is centrally located and within walking distance to Little Italy, the Gaslamp Quarter, and a short jaunt to Old Town and Balboa park. Housekeeping is about on standards with a Motel 6, which is disappointing for a hotel that commands a premium price.

We were looking for relief from the Arizona Summer and decided to visit San Diego and the Four Points Little Italy. We are so glad we did.

Check in was quick and simple and it was evident when walking in the door that the hotel was taking COVID very seriously with hand sanitizer and signage throughout the property.

Parking was simple and very close to hotel elevators.

The room was very clean and spacious with beautiful views.

The staff was wonderful and very attentive to any and all needs.

As a very frequent traveler I recommend the Four Points!

Disappointed the room wasn’t cleaned the whole time of our stay, even after calling for the room to be cleaned on our third night there. Came back to a dirty room. Staff was slow to being up towels because we had to request new ones as the room wasn’t cleaned. Only parking offered was valet at $40 per night was highway robbery. We parked on the street.

So when we got there and first got into the room, the room smelled like cigarettes and when I went to call down to ask about it and fix it, they took a long time. Another issue was the parking, the spots are so small and there is not enough parking for the amount of people staying in this hotel. Last but not least, not enough towels. We went to the pool and when we were down there, we asked for more towels and they said they were washing them and would be done in around 40 minutes. We were at the pool for over an hour and they said that they were now in the dryer. Just not worth the price of the room. This hotel is expensive but this hotel runs like a motel.

I am NOT one to write negative reviews. I in fact stayed at this hotel in January 2020 and had a lovely time. This time, not so much.

Upon entering the room, I noticed a terrible smell, something like cheap disinfectant and stale cigarette smoke. My friend urged me to complain, but I figured, I'm pretty much only sleeping here and it will probably dissipate. I spritzed some lemon verbena body spray around and hoped for the best. I did become noseblind to the smell, but every time I left and reentered the room it hit me.

I remembered really enjoying the shower at this hotel, and again, the massage showerhead performed much better than typical hotel showers that barely rinse shampoo from my hair, but the grout in the tile looked black and moldy and the shower curtain wasn't properly snapped together and I had to fix it.

There were also no washcloths provided, which I didn't realize until I was already IN the shower so I used a hand towel.

As I combed out my hair in the mirror I noticed a gross looking substance on the mirror and another on the wall next to the mirror.

Being a solo traveler, I turned on the TV for some background noise. Unfortunately it kept freezing, skipping, and pixelating as if there was a bad connection or something (I'm not a tech expert).

I got a little chilly while sleeping because there was no duvet, only a thin blanket on the bed.

But. The real kicker came on the third day of my stay. I enter my room that night after being out all day and I have some company. A cockroach. It seemed to be on its last legs, moving slowly, so I trapped it under a coffee cup. I looked for the complimentary notepad and pen that are usually sitting out, but alas, no paper. I used a wooden coffee stirrer to flick the bug into the cup, while suppressing a scream, and set it in the hallway. I contemplated leaving it there for other guests to observe. I also contemplated sending it down to the lobby via elevator, but in the end I called the front desk to come get it. I anticipated an apology. I anticipated an effort to remedy the situation. Nope. In fact, as I found out the next morning, someone removed the cup and roach but left the wooden stir stick on the floor. Clearly these employees don't have pride in their workplace. I would never leave litter on the floor at my job.

Anyway, I have pictures of the stuff I described except for the roach because I was kind of panicking at the time, and the smell because, well obviously we don't have smell-o-vision yet and I wouldn't subject you to that.

Uniquely circular hotel with elevators in the center and rooms emanating like spokes in a wheel—never more than a few steps to any room. Ultra plush bedding. Fitness center closed due to state orders regarding gyms but pool open and reaches a depth of 8.5’! The friendly desk agent recognized my Marriott gold status and upgraded me to a room with a bay view on the 11th floor. And that may just be the best view in San Diego! No open restaurant due to the pandemic so I walked three blocks down Cedar Street and found Pappalecco where I enjoyed a delicious breakfast veggie quiche and espresso on the patio for $12.

My fiancee and I stayed there for 4 nights in October. We originally booked somewhere else, but switched to here after finding a great sale. I was a little hesitant because of some of the ratings, but took the plunge.

The area has definitely improved over the pandemic, and didn’t have the roving homeless camps and tent cities that others came across. The area is a bit worn, but its actually a great location. 5 minutes from little Italy, a short walk to the harbour, and close to the tram station which we used to get to Tijuana and La Jolla.

I was upgraded to the top “executive” floor, which meant a larger room, ans great views of the harbour. The bed was very comfortable. The rooms have been “refreshed” but still show some wear and tear, especially bathroom.

The titanium elite buffet breakfast was not bad, typical hotel fare, just slow to replace because of some of the interesting clientele that were piling food on to take it up to their room. The lady who served us every morning was Kind and took an interest in what we were doing each day.

The hotel offers a small gym which we utilized, with some free weights and cardio machines. The pool deck looked sad and we didn’t use it.

There was a housekeeping issue which arose, which was handled poorly by the initial staff I spoke with. I was told something would be taken care of, and when I retuned 8 hours later, it hadn’t been. I will say that I was impressed when the general manager reached out on his own, that night, and offered what I thought was fair compensation.

Would I stay here again, maybe. If the price point was good, but for a similar price there are better options.

My fiancee and I were travelling back to the San Diego for a wedding and had been debating on places to stay. We had recently moved away from San Diego and were rather picky about where we stayed because we wanted to stay near where we used to live since we knew the area better. We honestly chose this hotel since we wanted to pay in points and it was one of the lower options, so we are initially concerned that it would not be a great stay. Boy, were we pleasantly surprised! First, I must credit the amazing employees who went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. As soon as we arrived, Mitch and Andrew marked themselves as some of the nicest hotel staff I had ever met. Since we had recently got engaged, they worked hard to get us an upgraded room on a higher-level which had a better, more romantic view. Thank you! When we checked out, we met Liz and Nadia who were working the front desk and they were so kind in offering us refreshments before our long flight across the country and really seemed to care about how our stay was. Many times, managers just ask to check a box, but Nadia really valued our opinions, which makes her seem like a wonderful leader. Aside from the staff, we were pleasantly surprised by the location! Although we knew it was near Little Italy, we had no idea how close it was! We were lucky enough to be there for the weekend of the tree lighting ceremony and we were only 2-3 blocks from the action! I will say, that for San Diego, the price was definitely right and the staff and location was superb. When we come back, we will definitely stay here!
