Let me first start off by saying that this is, bar none, the best hotel staff I have ever encountered at any hotel anywhere and I have stayed at many high end hotels, like Ritz Carlton and Four Seasons. The staff all work in concert to provide the absolute best customer experience possible for their guests. My family and I came in last minute for a funeral and when I tried to book rooms online and could not find what I was looking for I spoke to Michelle in guest services. Michelle went above and beyond to find us excellent rooms, very reasonably priced and expedited all booking over the phone, which made our check in process seamless. When we arrived, Johanna at the front desk was so friendly and welcoming, made sure daily complimentary waters were arranged during our 4 night stay, put in our request for extra pillows and provided very quick check in and extra late complimentary check out. Our rooms were lovely, with very comfortable beds, a safe, well appointed bathrooms and full, daily maid service, which most hotels don't typically provide. The hotel was very quiet and we had very restful sleep coming from the east coast, struggling with the time difference. We ate almost every single meal at the hotel which were all wonderful and so convenient since we didn't have to leave the hotel. The daily morning full service breakfasts had a variety of delicious selections and we were greeted by upbeat and friendly waitstaff every morning who were fast and efficient. We had delicious fresh sandwiches and salads onsite at Drift restaurant daily for lunch and had wonderful service by Wailea who was so genuinely kind and provided a wonderful dining experience. We made reservations at Drift after the celebration of life for 13 people and Ronald went so above and beyond, making sure that everything was just perfect for our family dinner. He set the most amazing table with candelabra's and driftwood planters and checked in with us multiple times beforehand to ensure ever detail was met. Angelica provided wonderful service for our big group and accommodated all our substitutions and extra requests with a big smile. We spent every morning at the huge, junior size olympic pool, swimming laps and soaking up the son. The tiki bar had amazing tunes playing and it was such a chill vibe with barely anyone there. I could go on and on with how wonderful our stay was and are so appreciative of the amazing staff who made our visit so enjoyable and memorable. We will be back!!!!

Stayed 5 days with two small dogs. Attractive facilities and grounds, all very well maintained. Very good location with easy access to dining, shopping, and quick access to expressways for travel throughout the San Diego area. Parking in the physically-adjacent garage was an additional daily charge, but was convenient with unlimited in/out privileges. Aside from a bit of a walk from parking garage to rooms, the hotel is very dog-friendly with abundant clean grassy areas around the perimeter of the hotel grounds. Room was spotlessly clean, quiet, and comfortable. Staff were uniformly congenial and helpful. This will be my go-to hotel for future trips to San Diego.

This 35 year old Hyatt property is generally well maintained. Staff were friendly and helpful, from check-in (Sean) to housekeeping to restaurant serving staff. Food is tasty, but pricey. Be prepared to pay more overall than mainstream hotel chains elsewhere. We found public transportation easily accessible and an effective, cost efficient way to see the sights. Room was very clean, though some ripples in bathroom wallpaper and shower drain clogged easily. Also, there were some slight stains on the rug nearest the coffee station. Overall, it was a very nice hotel.

i have stayed at the Aventine quite frequently over the last decade and so it truly dismays me to see the decline in the hotel’s product and services during that time. the staff continues to be generally courteous, helpful and responsive but the very obvious cost cutting measures are quite disappointing and some don’t need to be the way they are and the hotel still being able to meet its cost control measures.
1) no food or beverage of any sort can be ordered or purchased anywhere on the property after 10 pm. restaurants closed, no room service, heck can’t even access the takeaway section of the deli in the lobby! this is honestly a bit ridiculous. even the hyatt house in sorrento mesa i believe you can pick up snacks from the vending area in the lobby! why does the hyatt regency in la jolla lock everything down and disallow self service drinks and snacks that can be charged to one’s room? if you are trying to save labor costs for food & beverage then at least look for solutions that are tech enabled and may be self serve?
2) when you check in you are handed two room temperature bottles of water and a voucher for next day’s water. how classy! is it possible to get cold water at least?
3) the water usage saving measures are more than just a bit over the top. the water pressure in the showers due to water saving devices being installed has gone from bad to worse. when california was in a drought, one should absolutely support any reasonable measures to save water whether at home or in a hotel. But this is at the level where a decent refreshing shower at the Aventine is a thing of the past..very disappointing.
credit where credit is due- the quality of breakfast entrees in the breakfast restaurant on the ground floor is still quite good.
the olympic size pool and incredible gym co located with this hotel, hints at what the original aspiration for this place was- a full service hotel that was a destination for locals as well as travelers. Now it increasingly doesn’t feel that way because of first the overall cost cutting measures in the hotel industry, then hyatt specific irritating moves and then the unfortunate implementation of some of those at the Aventine..

The hotel was great, it was clean and ready for occupancy upon arrival. Plenty of towels and hand towels but not enough wash cloths for my two night, three day stay. The restaurant on the LL was fantastic for a late breakfast, room service was 7-10 min late (not a big deal unless you need to run out the door in the morning) breakfast was great and the Starbucks coffee was spot on, dinner was mediocre so I'd go downstairs to eat in the restaurant next time. You DO pay for parking unless you want to park on the street. The parking garage is a bit of a tight squeeze for anything bigger than a crossover type vehicle although full size trucks were still making it work-ish. The location is fantastic, its right next to the 5 freeway entrance but you don't hear the traffic, if you want to go to the beach, skip the one in La Jolla and go to Carlsbad, or Mission Beach, it was way too crowded to even get to park. My only very minor complaints with were the hallways were LOUD and people slammed their doors until way late at night (hotel can't really help that unless they put single person occupancy on floors without kids) and I really could have used 4-6 wash cloths in the room instead of 2, and I could have asked for more but didn't want the hassle so I used hand towels instead.

Room condition is good. You can buy a simple meal at Mart. The outdoor pool is warm water so it is good to swim in winter. Room shower room water pressure is low and drainage is not smooth. The tourist points and the distance Mullmer Rent is mandatory, but guests also receive a separate parking fee.

The Hyatt Regency La Jolla is a very attractive, well-maintained property. Our room was spacious and well-appointed. There was more than adequate storage space, the bed was very comfortable, and the lighting was excellent. We were especially impressed with the soft and luxurious feel of the hand towels in the bathroom, as well as the generous supply of towels overall, and the fact that the bathroom trash can had a lid on it. It was so nice not to have to look at the accumulation of used tissues and all the other usual trash that in most hotels is in an open can. This was a very small, but very thoughtful, touch. We have no doubt that when our future travel plans include San Diego, the Hyatt Regency at La Jolla will be our first choice for a place to stay.

The beds were comfy. The daily hotel rates plus parking was expensive compared to what you really get- it’s a basic room nothing fancy. It’s modern which is probably their uphold on the other local hotels nearby. However due to the breakfast being expensive (71 plus tip for two adults one child) , daily parking to self park mind you in a shady garage, I will be staying down the road at a mariott or the embassy suites not much further down. I can’t justify the prices here .

I booked the Hyatt Regency La Jolla as my husband and I come here for a full health screening at a medical centre nearby every 2 years. We checked in at 6.15pm and I asked front desk if I could pay for a late check out at 3pm the next day since our medical was at 7am in the morning and lasts 6 hours and we could not make the 11am check out time. I did not think this would be a big deal since check in time for the next guest is 4pm. She said she will check with the manager and came back out and told us the manager said that it was not possible as the hotel was running full! Feeling a little lost at what to do, we checked in, went up to our room and I got on the phone to chat with Jessica, the Front Office Manager. I explained our situation and asked if she could make an exception for me to pay for the room till 2pm so I can come back and have a quick shower before we leave for our long drive back to Los Angeles and was refused. The reason being, the hotel is running full and she “cannot put the team through this situation”. She then added that I could check out early (this would be at 6.30am in the morning for me) and left my bags at the front desk and there would be somewhere I could have a shower in the hotel when I got back from my screening at 1pm. She put me on hold for a bit and came back and said, that the facility by the pool is closed at the moment and so she cannot offer that service now. She then said she would give me complimentary check out till 12pm. (Why would I need that as my screening finishes at 1pm!) Needless to say I told her I am truly disappointed that she is not concerned with my inconvenience and rather the inconvenience of her team. My question is, if check in time is 4pm, why can’t I check out at 2pm as the next guest is only coming at 4pm. Is my inconvenience not worth a little effort from the hotel? Surely a hotel with so many rooms have capable hands to manage 3 hours for their guest. Although the studio suite we booked at USD$516.18 a night was really nice, I am not planning to come back to this hotel.

Check in was very fast, the hotel is a good option if you will be in the area and close to the highway. The room was clean as was the bathroom. After a 6-hour flight and a 2-hour car ride, we had a restful experience. Also upon arrival they offered us complimentary drinks. It was our turn in the 8th. flat in a one bed room. The room is spacious. The bathroom has everything you need (shampoo, conditioner, liquid soap, body cream and cotton swabs) I only have 2 observations, the carpet requires renovation or maintenance and the bathroom door is sliding but does not close completely and/or adjusts to the wall, so if you are looking for privacy while you are in the bathroom, you will hardly find it. Everything else was very good, the staff was very friendly. The pool was quite large, I liked that it had Starbucks in the lobby. Parking has a charge and they have valet service.

We are also Hyatt Members and were unable to check in at the posted 4pm time. This hotel was not organized mid July, '21. You are taking a risk. We had been lucky with all other Hyatt stays...... in Asia, Europe and within NA for the last 11 years. (Opinion) Stick with IHG or Hilton.
Unfortunately our special weekend had the worst possible start with our rooms not being ready. Calling ahead to ensure our infant and toddlers could check in a little bit early did not help. Waiting in the lobby was not ideal, and 6 of us trying to get ready for a planned occasion- one room with 2 towels- was just comical. This hotel fell just flat on basic expectations of accommodating our family. The Assistant Operations Manager did reach out to apologize.
There are more places to choose from in the San Diego area.
