I recently had a 1 night stay at Manchester Grand Hyatt. Everything was great including location, service, housekeeping and staff. They anticipated my needs, and gave me suggestions to make my stay more enjoyable. The staff was very friendly, professional and accommodating. My room and hotel in general was spotless, and well maintained.
Everything--from room service to the concierge to the meeting rooms and catered meals--were excellent. I was there for a conference and had a great experience. I forgot some items and they were quick to bring up what I need, the food was good in the cafe, etc.
Front desk inexperienced clerks need further training. Suite could have benefitted from a renovation. The main pool area was in desperate need of renovation and updating. Maintenance personnel need to stay on top of the mold around the inside edge of the hot tub in the main pool area. The fire pit area was trashed and not operational. It looked like it was being used as a giant ashtray. The breakfast buffet at the Seaview Restaurant was excellent and a great value.
We bought out the hotel, 2287 rooms. The lobby is huge, 16-20 possible check in positions. Lots of digital branding opportunities. Market and grab n go spot. Check out the amentities as they include a $10 food/drink credit each day (doesn't rollover tho). Breakfast and dinner restaurant. Rooms are a nice size, typical decor with a table and chairs and a desk so you don't have to eat or work in your bed and a mini frig. 2 towers, Seaport and Harbor and the rooms overlook the seaport or the harbor, crossover on floors 1-4. There was a strange smell in my room, the tub needed to be replaced as the last reglaze was peeling as was the wallpaper at seams. The bathroom fixtures were in need of updating (scrubbed the temp indicator off, calcium deposits) plus i hate (in general) those square, shallow sinks. I never had cookies in the room but someone before me did. Saw that on the 4 day of stay and after 2nd time of housekeeping service. Bed, pillows and linen were comfortable. Banquets and bell staff were nice and super efficient handling the large group. Breakfast buffet eggs were moist, chicken sausage was good. Easy 7 minutes walk to Hall A of SDCC. Walking distance to the water, USS Midway, Seaport Village, Gaslamp Quarter. Key access is necessary to access sleeping rooms so meet your delivery man in the lobby. Lines formed to access elevators when group returned to the hotel en masse. …
Stayed 3 nights for a conference. Super clean hotel with plenty of amenities. The gym was stocked with every machine possible and several cardio machines. Even two Pelotons. Gym provided towels, water and disposable ear phones. Meals were pretty good. Did not eat at any of the actual restaurants but the conference had breakfast, lunch, and dinner catered by hotel. Rooms had great views of downtown or the bay. Each stocked with two bottles of water. Pool area is beautiful. Overall, a great stay! Minor Cons: elevators backed up with the influx of people. We sometimes waited up to 10 mins for one. Beds were quite firm with thin blankets and even thinner pillows.
The hotel staff for our meeting were above and beyond my expectations. I could not think of another hotel I would rather take my meetings in San Diego, CA. A cut above for a conference level hotel. For a large hotel the staff made us very welcome and looked after.
Excellent location with very friendly staff , that helped with many of my needs. Go Green option was not for me but it was an option, won't choose again! View was incredible and food and drinks were very good!
The rooms really need updating. We had some issues with cleanliness in the bathroom when we arrived. The hotel is in a great location, it’s within walking distance to a lot of restaurants and shopping.
We enjoyed our stay at the Manchester Grand Hyatt in San Diego during the 2023 Alzheimer's Association Leadership Summit. The facilities were very nice, the food was great, and the view from our room was also very nice.
All in all the hotel is very pleasant to stay even if rooms are a little dated. Service is good, people are friendly. Breakfast little overpriced rooftop bar excellent. If I beet to visit San Diego again it will be among my first choices.
