Kings Inn San Diego stands out for its nostalgic mid-century charm and clean, well-appointed decor that many find appealing. While the hotel's central location near attractions suits families well, guests have called out noise and maintenance issues in some rooms. The heated pool and on-site dining options add to the amenities, despite occasional cleanliness lapses in the pool area. Service at Kings Inn is generally lauded for being friendly and efficient, though the additional parking fee is a noted drawback. Above all, the hotel is seen as providing good value for a comfortable stay.

Room was spotless. Not fancy but just right, with two comfortable newish queen beds, central air in great shape, two windows opposite each other for awesome air circulation with new hardware and double panes for sound and heat insulation. Toilet was smallish, but flushed strong and left room for a nice bathtub with strong water pressure to fill a hot bath in a few minutes. The King’s Inn has managed to keep its original ambiance while keeping the rooms new and updated. What got my heart though was the gorgeous pool and spa. The huge, kidney-shaped pool has a 9-foot deep end and 3-ft shallow. It’s surrounded by palms and beautiful flower bushes and colored lights at night. I felt like going back to my childhood (children do so love this pool!) This is the best hotel for a family getaway, bar none! Yes, the pool and spa are open as long as social distancing is observed, but with no one using it for hours at a time that wasn’t hard to do. Did I mention that the spa was sparkling and just right? Best of all, the people working here go out of their way to welcome you and treat you like, well, a King. If you come to San Diego, you’ll find no better place to stay.

Your review makes us beam with pride. We have not cut back on our efforts to care for our guests even as travel is so greatly reduced. We thank you for sharing your experience and hope you can visit again to experience us in full operation, including our two great on-site restaurants.

The Kings Inn San Diego is an awesome little spot in close to everything in San Diego. We stayed for a week and it was a great getaway. The staff is exceptionally helpful and caring. The housekeeping staff is magnificent! We’ve done a few mini getaways since the pandemic started and this hotel room was cleaner than most of the major chain hotels we have visited. They do freshen your room daily if you so choose which is another nice perk. The Waffle Spot Coffee Shop on property food was so delicious we ate there most mornings. The Amigo Spot currently has limited days of operation but we stopped in for for Taco and they were also good. All around the service for each department was superb.

I loved the kitschy Mid Mod decor of the hotel as well. From the color scheme to the layout it felt like you were arriving in 1950’s to a roadside Motel for a stay!

Their Covid protocol was on point, I felt safe with all of the precautions they had in place.

Such a fun, clean, perfectly located hotel, I can’t wait to go back!

I enjoyed my second visit. I had been staying in Motel 6 among a few but the small increased amount I pay at Kings Inn is worth far more. The room is spotless, everything works, nothing is missing. The towels are thick, and there were soft pillows and firm ones plus a blanket, hair dryer etc. Front desk is friendly and professional, the lobby is inviting, and the location in San Diego perfect. I highly recommend them.

this was our second time staying here and love it. We were accommodated with the same exact room we stayed in the last time right in front of the pool. They have room cleaning services every day which is great, due to COVID other hotels are not offering daily cleaning service. Staff is very helpful and polite. The restaurant also has great customer service. Our experience has been wonderful at this hotel. Definitely will continue to stay here and have told our friends and family about it. The pool has no restrictions which is great, because that it the second reason we stay at this hotel.

Nice room, good housekeeping service. Close to downtown and old town. If you want a microwave in your room it’s extra per day, but you can use the one in laundry room free of charge. Lobby carries snacks and soda.

Happy you enjoyed your stay at Kings Inn San Diego. We keep our rates competitive and affordable so that when you want the small extra perks like a personal microwave for $5 per day, it is not a huge hit on the wallet. Guests also get a 10% discount when they show their key card in our restaurants. Free parking. Free WiFi. Even our snacks and sodas are priced lower than most retail outlets. Thanks for your review.

Designed as motel, the inn was quite nice. Offered cheap laundry machines as well as a shared microwave in the same, dedicated room. Shower stream was weaker than we'd initially hoped. Staff was wonderful and helpful and helped us with whatever we needed. Take note that it's highly recommended to move around in a car around these parts of town.

Easy hotel for family vacation or remote work environment. Internet was strong and dependable. Lobby access to internet and printer(although google chrome was blocked on lobby pc) cleaning staff were very friendly and helpful. pool - heated. Parking was spacious. Showers had enough hot water, and have showerheads high enough for taller people. furniture had spacious drawers.

Room comfortable, and in good condition. Just a little bit dated in not really important aspects such as the washbasin counter + faucet and USB charger. Hotel overall clean.

VERY, VERY, VERY helpful staff especially at the check-in counter they gave useful hints and help even providing with a box for an Amazon return.

Pool is great though it might get crowded during the summer season (hotel has around 300 rooms). Parking lot is huge. There's a small laundry for guests (veeeeery useful).

Hotel has a cafeteria and a restaurant which I did not attend but seem OK.

I recommend this place for people on a mid-range to economy budget seeking a very good place to stay.

Well located to all San Diego attractions in the Hotel Circle area.

Great place for the price. Free parking, close drive to beaches, very close to old town, the Waffle Spot/Amigo Spot is great food connected to the property. Friendly staff. They make you sign an agreement regarding any room damage but it also includes the agreement to not be excessively loud after a certain time at night or you'll have to pay a fee. This helped keep things quiet at night which was nice. On a huge strip of hotels so we felt very safe and comfortable.

We spent 3 nights here on a recent trip. The pluses: Bed was comfortable and the fridge was great. No microwave unless you fork over another $5.00 per night. It was an adjoining room with someone else and we could hear their TV all the time, they could probably hear ours too. When we got there there were a few towels but no hand soap or any other kind of soap. I figured they didn't do shampoo or anything but they should do hand soap at least so I went to the front desk to ask for one. I mentioned about the shampoo too and they said oh yes, they do all that stuff. I said we had none so he was going to send someone with all that stuff. The guy brought 4 bars of hand soap, 3 bars of face soap and 6 tubes of lotion. We said oh well you get what you pay for. When we arrived back the next day around 6pm housekeeping had not been there Again I went to the front desk (I really hate having to do that) and they said we had the do not disturb on after 8 so they wouldn't make up the room. So the next day when we left I called the FD and said we were leaving now and could they have someone make up the room. When we got back the room had been made up but there was no shampoo/conditioner or coffee. Anyway we thought this was all pretty poor management so when we go to San Diego again we won't stay here. Sorry the FD people were pretty nice but in no control whatsoever.
