The staff was very nice and helpful but when I first checked in the original room I was given was locked from the inside and there were used metal spoons in the windowsill so we could tell someone was inside. We were given a new room, however, we noticed right away there were used q-tips on the ground and a large yellow stain on the curtains. At this point we already dealt with getting a room someone was already staying in which is a safety hazard so when we got our new room and saw the cleanliness issues we didnt want to go back to complain for a second time. We were only going to stay in the hotel to sleep so we didn't say anything but it was disgusting to find used items and stains

The hotel is old, the rooms too, the price is among the cheapest in san diego, the location in downtown leaves you walking a few minutes from the main things in downtown like little italy or balboa park. Breakfast is ridiculous. In conclusion if you don’t have much budget and go for a couple of days for something specific does the job, if you are looking for a holiday I suggest you look for something different although the price will rise. The staff is very friendly and always ready to help you

Days Inn in downtown San Diego. It's convenient because you can walk to the pedestrian mall and the bayside. It feels quite expensive due to the weak yen, but it's a motel, so it only has the bare minimum of facilities. Parking is $20 a night, and the only thing they offer in the lobby is free coffee. For breakfast, they give you a sandwich and juice in a paper bag. There's no bar in the building, but there's a grocery store just across the street where you can buy beer and snacks.

Extremely disappointing experience. We arrived very early for an all day event and the staff was nice enough to allow us to park during the day. $20/day so you know added to the hotel price which is rediculous. They also add $100 deposit to your charge and tell you it will be back in 24 hours. What an absolute lie. This hotel is surely scamming people out of every dollar they can. The room was disgusting. First glance we notice furniture is chipped and old, the walls haven't been cleaned in years I am sure. The floors were covered in scratches and there were random items left in the room making it appear that the cleaning staff didn't do a very thorough job at all. Upon further notice we discovered blood on the sheets of one bed after sleeping in them. All the staff did was say, im so sorry for that I'll cover your parking fee. $20? I could get a number of infections or diseases and they assume $20 is credit enough. BTW after we paid for the room we were informed there's no hot water so no showers for our stay. We spent the whole day in a dirt lot to come back and be told no shower after already paying. The location was not the safest, random people searching for drugs wandering around all hours of the night. This hotel is rundown and needs to be condemned and remodeled. From the amount of 1 star reviews just in the last month I'm surprised they haven't been shut down. We've been attempting to contact the hotel for hours and it takes several minutes for then to answer then we just get left on an endless hold. Do not give this business your money!!! If I could give 0 stars that would be the rating.

The location of this hotel is very good. My use of the word good ents there.
When we pulled into the parking lot it looked old and gross, and very unsafe as there were homeless people about. That is an issue in many cities, so went to check in and that went seamlessly, except for the fact that the elevator wasn't working. I was shocked as just 2 months ago I stayed at a Holiday Inn property that emailed me that the elevator was broken and I was able to call and get a room on the ground floor as I was traveling with a friend who cannot do steps. This time we are all able bodied, but I was still shocked. Then I was told there was a $20 per night parking fee, I said I wasn't told this and she blamed it on the 3rd party booking site. ok. The I asked about the included breakfast and she said it's a brown bag. Again, I would have chosen a different hotel as both of those factors went into choosing the hotel.
Grabbed our luggage and started up the steps. They haven't been maintained, and paint was missing, cracking and just neglected.
Opened the door to the room and there was a bleach like smell. The room hasn't been cared for at all and it was dark and dingy. Beds and pillows were horrible.
When I got home I took everything straight to my laundry room and left it there as it was late, the next AM went in to put away and the whole laundry room STANK. I had to wash everything including clothes I didn't take out of the luggage. I then had to put the luggage in direct sunlight on my porch for 2 days to get the smell off the luggage.
Lastly, I have stayed in "budget" hotels and older charming properties that aren't 100% up to date. No problem!!!!! But this was actually gross. It was $250 a night and I guess they can get that because of the location, but really I can't believe they are in business with no health or safety violations.

Let's face it this is a Days Inn, not the Waldorf Astoria, and it looks big city plain, rather than skyscraper modern. Having said that, the room is modest but comfortable, including a microwave, which is a big plus for me. The location is WONDERFUl.. at the edge of downtown, walking distance to Gaslamp area, and to Balboa Park if you enjoy walking. Literally less than 10 minutes to the airport, and even less if you're returning a rental car. The lobby is the size of a postage stamp, but who cares, and the staff is friendly. "Included breakfast" is coffee and a carry-away snack box, but what do you expect at a bargain price. Parking is $20/day but free if you join Wyndham points club, so join!

Our first room had a door lock that was broken and hanging so we had to ask for a different room. The next room was awful. The black out curtains were torn and had no "black out" left. There was only one lamp, the fire alarm was missing, the towels were gray. The door did not shut all the way so there was light that would come in on one side. The property is run down and very dirty. NOTHING like the pictures indicated. The property charged my CC even though it stated I was to pay at property. The hotel confirmed my booking with in hours of booking and waited until AFTER I could cancel without penalty to email me and say that the free breakfast was no longer being offered at the property. When I called the property to get parking fees before arrival I was told $15 per day when we arrived it was increased to $20. This is a non smoking hotel and the neighbors above and either side of us smoked marijuana so much it would seep into our room. The vanity was right inside the door and was shorter than my husband. The air conditioner did not work so we would have to leave the balcony door open for fresh air, we had no screens on the patio and with our neighbors smoking non stop we were either miserable with the door open or the door closed. There were piles of laundry, clean sheets, towels and comforters stacked outside as this is where the laundry room is. The soiled laundry water runs into the parking lot.The fence to the parking lot was smashed in. AND to make matters worse, our room received no cleaning services on our first full day there. We left to go on a sailing excursion and when we came back 9 hours laters we had no clean towels, our dinner trays were still in the trash can and when I called the front desk to ask why I had no service, I was very rudely advised my Mr. Bill, "well did you have your Do Not Disturb sign outside "? When I replied no, and asked when I could get clean towels, he told me to call him back. We finally got towels at 7:45 pm....People knocked on door at 2:30 in the morning asking us to open the door. The room above us sat in the desk chair and rolled it back and forth across the floor until nearly 3 am on our last night there and when I called the front desk to ask them to call the room, no answer, just VM. This was the worst stay at a hotel I have ever had. Disgusting g property, poor service and false advertising at it's best!

Upon stepping out of my Uber the first thing to hit me was a strong smell of urine. I arrived at the hotel about 11:45AM and they were able to let me check in early which was pretty cool. The front desk lady was nice and the check-in process with really quick. Going up to my room in the elevator was kind of scary because at time the elevator would come to really slow crawl between floors or sometimes just sit there so you have to hit the buttons again. There’s literally only room for two people in the elevator, it’s really tiny and could use a deep cleaning. When I got to my room I was surprised it wasn’t a run down room that stunk after seeing the exterior and lobby. The room was clean, microwave and fridge, AC and nesting unit. The AC was an old one and small but it worked really well at cooling the room really fast. My room had a balcony overlooking the neighboring hotel and some of the city. Every staff member I came across was friendly. The surrounding area had some questionable characters but didn’t bother us. I would stay here again but not for $200/night. This place is okay to just lay your head at night so don’t expect anything fancy. Single women I’d be kind of cautious of the surrounding area unless you know kung-fu. Also, if you look to the right of the hotel front entrance doors there’s some stairs that lead to nowhere, literally lol it goes right into a wall.

This hotel is absolutely horrible. You are greeted by young teenagers that do not have a clue on anything and that smell of weed, which in return smells up the lobby area of the hotel. There are no public restrooms and only a “light breakfast” included which is actually nothing. Once in the room, there are stains in the bedsheets, leaking faucets, and the floor is filthy. For the price point, I am VERY disappointed and would not recommend this place to anyone. Highly discourage anyone from staying here. Do not believe the photos you see of this place as it doesn’t show how terrible the place is run. Don’t waste your time and/or money here.

If you’re looking for a bed and free parking, this will do. Rooms are being remodeled so not complete. Breakfast is just a grab and go bag. Room had electrical wires without the light attached. Free parking for Wyndham members in downtown San Diego is a savings of $20 per day. Walking distance to most areas. There is a free shuttle service around the city through the app Circuit.

It would not be appropriate for us to discuss the details of that particular incident on an open forum, but suffice it to say that there was far more to the story. We have been here since 1978, and we have never had something like that occur before or since.

While we do not have a dedicated airport shuttle, many of our guests use ride sharing companies like Uber or Lyft. In addition, our front desk will be happy to call you a taxi. We look forward to serving as your host!

Answer from

Like all downtown San Diego properties, we do charge a daily fee for parking. However, our $15 fee is the lowest for any property. I hope this answers your question.
