The Westgate exceeded my expectations. I was in SD only briefly to attend a conference and needed a reasonably priced hotel downtown. The Westgate turned out to be just lovely, from the elegant lobby to the meticulous large room which reminded me of the famous Drake Hotel in Chicago. On Saturday evening I enjoyed the piano bar where live jazz...

overnite stay........ rooms very spacious, nice city view, front desk staff very helpful, Negative,===== dining room staff very lax inexperienced (in training?) long wait for food un attentive. Unfortunately the parking garage lost my remote key long story, very upsetting, but I must say, staff, rallied and made the best of an unfortunate situation took care of all expenses R/T...

I wish that TripAdvisor allowed 1/2 stars because my experience at the Westgate was more on par with a 3.5* rating (it also felt a tad less than a 4* hotel), but I will adhere to the rule of "rounding up" and give it a 4* rating. But I digress.... The Good: The standard Westgate room is much more spacious...

Love this hotel, especially the European feel and flair. The rooms are exceptionally clean and well maintained. Appreciated that you actually used a key instead of a card to access room. The spa next door is exceptional and a must visit, especially the pool on the rooftop. I would definitely stay here again.

This is a tired old hotel caught in a time warp. The rooms are larger than usual but everything about the rooms spells old. Do not take a room on the side of the hotel where the trolley runs or you will be listening to their horn every 5 minutes from 5:00 a.m. onward. The pleasant surprise was the brand...

Grand lobby area, big room, old fashion luxury style. Was on a business trip and selected this place as it wasn't too far from the convention centre and was near the centre too. So, it ticked box boxes. Cannot really find a fault in the service. Top marks. Not sure why breakfast wasn't included so cannot comment on that. Nice...

As a venue for our 300+ reunion it was OK, but the banquet room was not large enough to accommodate everyone, as a result, about 1/4 of the group was in the overflow lobby. Mandatory valet parking ($18.00), but hey, it is San Diego. Shower head was mounted on a sliding rod - no issue for anyone under 5'8", but...

I love this hotel! The lobby area is beautiful, the customer service is excellent, the location is perfect for walking to Gaslamp or the Bay and there is a huge fitness centre in the next building. The Westfield mall is just across the road and the trolley stop is right behind the hotel. Rooms are lovely.

I highly recommend the Westgate! Excellent service all around from valet parking to maid service. The roof top pool with workout equipment is beautiful. You cannot get your own ice and we needed to ice a recovering knee, staff brought ice everyday! We lost a precious stuffed animal and housekeeping dug through the laundry and miraculously found our stuffed animal!...

This hotel is super nice. Staff has been awesome. Bar downstairs is ok. Rooms have patios and that's really nice. Elevators are classic and work great. Room service is over priced but sooooo good lol I will come back
