Not a cookie cutter hotel. I travel around the state for work, and this was a most memorable spot. I stay in so many overpriced, bland places. This place was so different. Staff was so pleasant and location is perfect. Good stay for a good price. Extra clean and quiet.
What can I say? This place was awesome. My brother and I made a last-minute decision to roll into town for a fishing trip the next day. This place was normally booked but apparently had a cancellation and when we call (at 10:30 pm) the manager answered the phone and got us in a room (which was delightful by the way). She was just awesome. The Process was super quick, and she was amazing friendly (even this late at night). She showed us everything and went above and beyond to take care of us. As far as I can tell they had everything we would want. She even put some music (without us asking) on for us to sit out by the tiki hut to sit for a while after our long 7 hour drive. Just what we needed. The next day they emailed us to make sure that the place was what we needed. It was, they even remembered that we were going fishing and wished us luck. Everything about this experience was above my expectations, especially since it was so last minute. We were a huge pain you know what coming in so late, and they went above and beyond. I am really trying to…
Great place to stay and swap ski stories with the owner. Super clean and homey in the house. I imagine all the rooms are at the same standard. We would stay here again if revisiting the area. Thanks for a nice room, good advice on the ferries, and a friendly welcoming late in the day upon arrival.
We stayed here just after Labor Day 2021 for a quick extra night at the outer banks. This is a quaint little motel very close to downtown Manteo. We stayed in the motel rooms, not the main house. The room was clean and comfortable - nothing too exotic, but well worth the price. Be sure to drive over to the Alligator River wildlife preserve at sunrise or before sunset and drive the roads slowly. It's only about 10 minutes from the motel. You are almost guaranteed to have a close bear sighting. Stop and get a map of the wildlife drive and make your way to Bear Road. It's a great experience.
My friend and I spent a night at the Island Motel and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It is a true gem! Tess at the front desk extended a warm, friendly greeting and fresh lemon water after a long drive. While escorting us to our room, Tess encouraged us to take full advantage of the fire pit and the Tiki Bar where we ended up having our dinner. We found the accommodations to be clean, welcoming and safe. My dad lives in Kill Devil Hills. He recently sold his home and moved into a Senior Living community. Our family needs a place to stay when we are in town and I think we have found it! A special thank you for making us feel right at home.
