It's hard to beat the central location - close to a cople Metro stations - and the comparatively low prices. The rooms are quite, clean and very basic. Breakfast in included, and, if not fancy, it offers several choices. The traveller needs to adapt to the limited size of the rooms and the use of shared bathroom and shower.

Just needed a basic CLEAN place to stay, in order to visit NYU, that wasn't going to break the bank. The location was perfect (right by NYU and Washington Square). It was clean and comfortable. Didn't mind the shared bathroom. I will be back!

The Larchmont turned out to be a fabulous hotel choice for my partner and me. It's not for everybody, because the baths are shared. Being a regular camper, though, where we typically share a bathhouse with many other people, this wasn't a problem for us. But the shared bath situation was far better than we expected. There are only 7...

I was going on a road trip with friends and needed a budget hotel for a couple of nights either side of it. I have previously stayed in a number of hotels in NYC which were overpriced. I am a great believer that you get what you pay for and as such my expectations of the Larchmont weren't that high....

Over-all I think it was great. The only thing was when I got there the T.V.s' weren't working due to maintenance. If I had of known that before I went I would have stayed somewhere else, but apart from that everything was O.k.

The Larchmont was recommended to us by my partners colleague. What a great hostel/hotel tucked away on a quiet street in the West Village. Close to everything you need. Super clean and very friendly. Pros - Very clean - Bath robe and slippers for guests (nice touch) - comfortable bed (rm 1E7) - close to subway, supermarket, eateries, cafés -...

Excellent location. First time in NYC. Stayed 4 nights. Very comfortable. Shared bathrooms no problem. All very clean. Has a small kitchen on the floor with fridge and cooking facilities. Continental breakfast simple but set us on our way each day. Staff at reception desk wonderful when checking in and during our stay. Special mention to Jim and Jane. Jane...

Admittedly I paid for a bigger room. When shared bathrooms were advertised I imagined dormitory style bathrooms not the neat little bathrooms in the corridor right next to my room. Its hard to imagine better value. Its in a neat little neighbourhood with an excellent restaurant on the next corner. My only criticism is the breakfast. Too many carbs.Choice only...

Stayed here for New Years eve 2015, best value in town. Located in the west village, where other hotels are 3/4 times the price. Beautiful street lined with tall trees, and short walk to subway. Stayed in a double room 5W and would definitely recommend. Although they have shared bathrooms this should not put you off staying as they were...

I love this place, and have stayed here a few times, when I just want to jet in for a fun night (or day) on the town and don't want to burn valuable rewards points or cash on a room at one of the fancier hotels. If you don't mind (or, in fact, relish) a step-up from a hostel feel,...

Staying in Greenwich Village

Neighbourhood Profile
Greenwich Village
Commonly known as “the Village” to New Yorkers, it was here in Greenwich Village that both 1960’s counter culture and the LGBT movement were born. Famous for its bohemian past, head to Washington Square Park to get a feel for this diverse and energetic neighbourhood. You’ll find NYU students, street performers, skateboarders, kids frolicking in the fountain, and locals relaxing and playing chess. Stroll the streets to discover a mix of majestic town homes and hidden bars and restaurants that give this neighbourhood an old-school residential feel. When the sun goes down, check out one of the famous jazz or comedy clubs that still packs them in every night.
