We stayed 3 nights at the Standard. What I liked: The hotel staff is very nice and friendly. The hotel room itself is small as expected for a NYC hotel. The bathroom and bed were very functional and comfortable. The Standard Cafe (bar / restaurant) inside the hotel is very happening on a Saturday night and great for people watching....

My accounting team has been in email contact with you to discuss the matter. Your breakfast charge was post to your bill after you checked out and thus had to charge your card for this. I am sorry if this was confusing. We feel the matter has been settled. If you need any other assistance please contact me at the...

Good vibes, positive energy and hospitality with style! Perfect for work and play. Fun downtown NYC neighborhood. Super warm and friendly welcoming upon arrival a few weeks ago. Throughout my stay the front desk and crew were super awesome whether I was in the lobby, bumping into staff in the elevator, or in need of a taxi. My room was...

We were able to take advantage of a flash sale to book a corner king room for a Friday night. We were greeted by Akilah at the front desk. In addition to handling the check in she provided us with a list of things to do in the neighborhood. When we were ready to go to our room she didn't...

Every detail of The Standard, East Village is nicely presented. From the luxurious bedding to spacious bathroom, we enjoyed the modern design. The views are splendid and the location provides easy access to subway, NYU and Soho neighborhoods. The staff were friendly and accommodated my late arrival and special requests. The cafe served delicious coffee and a nice breakfast menu....

Excellent accommodations from the room to the food & drink, with a very friendly staff willing to take on any requests. We had a king bed, with modern furnishings, sporting a great view west of NYU/SoHo and north towards the Empire State Building. Bathroom was was spacious with a large walk in shower.

Great location in the East Village, but small room smelling of bleach, no reading lights at the beds, dated carpets, dirty window. Very noisy room - loud AC and loud neighbroing room doors. Large functional bathroom. Minimalism for 5 star prices

The hotel feels really vibrant with lots happening and is a hangout place for trendy 20-somethings who flock here in the evenings for drinks and socialising. The room that we had was small, very small in fact. However, it had absolutely everything we needed with a well thought out floor plan. The shower was excellent and the room (and shower...

I've stayed in this hotel for around two months in total over the past year and a half (3 stays) for work and I'm not really sure how I feel about it. I return to it due to it's excellent location, but the rooms are quite hit and miss. Sometimes you are in a room with so little room to...

Staying in East Village

Neighbourhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighbourhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighbourhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Located off Cooper Square in one of New York's most vibrant, artistic neighborhoods, The Standard, East Village is cozy, charming, and eccentric in equal measure-very much in the spirit of its surroundings. You enter the 21-story tower through an original tenement-style building before ascending to unparalleled views of Manhattan. There's a quiet, calm garden tucked away at street level, Michelin-starred chef John Fraser's widely acclaimed Narcissa, and the bustling, street-side Café Standard, which hums from morning until late night. ... more   less
