Nice place, great staff, cool restaurant/bar.....but i couldn't sleep. The constant noise of the heavy doors closing was too much. there is a door every eight feet, as it's a "pod" hotel. I am a heavy sleeper, but....

The Jane is in a great location, nice staff, good bar and cafe, but if you intend on getting some sleep, take earplugs! The room doors in the hallway open and close all night, the frequency of this increasing due to shared bathrooms. Also because there are so many doors in the hallway (due to tiny rooms) it seems worse.

I recently spent a weekend at this wonderful little hotel. There were definitely a few standout points. Rooms: I stayed in the standard cabin room - they may only be about 50 sq ft but was more than enough space for me - I only ever spent time in there to sleep or decompress for an hour or two break...

The Jane is a beautiful 100 year old builiding and very well maintained. We had a bunk bed room (7 x 7 feet) and definitely felt like we were on a ship in close quarters! There was just enough space and we were there just to sleep so it was great for a night and a good price for the...

Very cozy and tidy...perfect for a solo traveller who plans to spend all of their time out and about. It doesn't feel claustrophobic at all and the guys working the front desk were a lot of fun. It's close to all the cool restaurants and shopping and only a few blocks from my new favorite thing: the High Line. I...

I was in one of the small single rooms and when you read they're approvimately 50 square foot in size you should know it's small, but thanks to some clever design (drawers beneath bed, large mirror on wall) I never felt claustrophobic. Also I really only slept in the room. Café Gitane is superb and also opens at 7.00am, when...

my wife and i just stayed here for 3 nights for my 40th birthday and had blast. we had a captains cabin room which was one of the biggest rooms i've ever stayed in in new york. it had an outdoor terrace (admittedly with no view) but we couldn't fault the cleanliness or hospitality. the bed was fine, the amenities...

The Jane is a like a glorified upscale hostile. I don't need much space because I'm usually just there to sleep and in NY you don't do much of that either and just want an easy access hotel with a room that I feel safe and clean. The Jane was perfect. Not only was it kept clean on a routine...

This hotel ticks all the boxes for location: close to Greenwich Village, the Highline (old disused elevated train-walkway) and the subway isn't far either. It has great views of the Hudson and there are some lovely affordable cafes and bars around the area. It is also close to the Financial & WTC's too. I stayed in a bunk-room and as...

Thanks for taking the time to write. We're happy to hear that you enjoyed the hotel! If you would like to learn about other great restaurants in the area, our front desk staff is very knowledgeable. Our Ballroom is generally open from 5PM-9PM (8PM on Fridays and Saturdays) to the public and closed after this time for private events. We...

I stayed here twice before and had enjoyable experiences both times. Night 1 included a standard cabin - very small & stylish, perfect size tv, ac/heat and a somewhat comfy twin size bed. The shared bathrooms are just down the hall and are well maintained and I never had to wait for anything. Night 2 I was upgraded to a...

Staying in West Village

Neighbourhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighbourhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
