The Moxy NYC Times Square garners appreciation for its vibrant amenities, including the popular rooftop bar and cafes, nestled in a prime location near Times Square. While the modern and energetic atmosphere, complete with live music, captivates many guests, some travelers caution about the noise levels from the bustling streets and adjacent rooms. The hotel's cleanliness and value proposition, including a daily credit to mitigate resort fees, are highlights, although opinions on room size and service quality vary. Guests have called out the efficient yet compact room designs, occasionally marred by noise and other discomforts.

Remember to adjust your expectations, this is a city hotel with compact rooms.

The entire property has a similar vibe to W hotels, but a budget version. It has a rooftop bar that's accessible outside of the hotel, an onsite bar and social space on the 2nd floor, and a gym on the lower level. They charge daily resort fee that translated into credits for us to use during our stay, and as part of our Bonvoy Titanium status, we were also offered an additional $10 per day, and 4pm late check out. They are affiliated with a cafe next door (Cafe D'Avignon) where you can use your credits, we used it for breakfast so essentially breakfast was included for us. The quality of the pastries and coffee exceeded our expectations so it was a nice surprise for us. We did not visit the rooftop bar during our 2 night stay because their operation hour did not match our schedule.

The room is clean and the bed is acceptably comfortable, again, the room size is definitely "economical". If you have standard-size check-in luggage, you won't be able to leave it open due to the limit of space, and if you have more than one of these bags, you will struggle with the space. The sink and vanity station are positioned in the "hallway" of the room leading to the bed, so it's right in your sight as you enter the room. The bathroom only has a toilet and a shower, opposite each other. There's a small desk with a phone, 2 bottles of water, and a stool. The bed is king size, so it fits me and my husband who is 6' nicely, the other side of the bed is against the ledge with a built-in AC and a small window, so you can only get in and out of bed on one side. There are storage spaces underneath the bed which can fit your standard carry-on-size luggage, and there are hooks along the wall for you to hang your clothing, the overall design of the room is an efficient use of space. Please note that there's no daily housekeeping, they come once every 2 days, so we had to ask for extra amenities as needed.

Pros: The showerhead was surprisingly a delight. T pressure is strong yet the water is soft on your skin, and wash products are of decent quality. Both temperature controls of the shower and the room are very responsive, both take little time for the temperature to get to where you want it to be. The hotel has a smart elevator system where you press the floor you want to go to and swiping your room key, and you get assigned an elevator. The location is great, you can get to most major tourist areas by foot without needing a car or taking public transportation.

Cons: The mattress is on the harder side for us. The rooftop bar did not adjust its opening hour to accommodate earlier sunset time in the winter. On the day of our checkout (Dec 17th), the lady (Green jacket with moxy logo, no glasses, light brown curly hair) was not the most hospitable, on her phone until we reached her desk, did not smile much, had a lazy attitude, and did not ask about our stay.

Overall, this property excelled in most areas in this category of accommodation, the value is great, especially for what you're paying in peak season NYC. We wish our checkout experience would've been nicer to wrap up our stay, but this place does do a good job.

It was a magnificent stay. I booked the hotel for 4 nights to celebrate my 41st birthday. When checking in early, my wife and I were surprised by a room decorated in honor of my birthday, including a bottle of proseco. Magnificent. The resort fee includes a daily voucher of 30USD to be used on the 2nd floor, or in the cafeteria next to the hotel entrance, which has a varied menu of snacks and coffees. Every day there were bottles of water in the lobby, sometimes juices, sports drinks and chocolates. The staff is always very cheerful and eager to assist you. Next to Macy's and Penn Station. And the best: a very fair price for New York standards. Highly recommended and will definitely stay again.

I had an incredible stay at the Moxy Times Square, and a huge part of that was thanks to Ever, who went above and beyond to make my experience unforgettable. He was extremely attentive, helpful, and even offered me an upgrade from the crash pad to a larger room so I could truly enjoy my time at the hotel. Talk about exceptional service!

If you happen to book the crash pad - it is literally that - a 150-foot room with a bed + bathroom. It's super cozy and just enough for one person to rest and shower. Very clean and modern.

Giovanni, the supervisor, was equally fantastic—he graciously offered me a beverage while I waited for my Uber, which was such a thoughtful touch.

I also loved the $30 resort fee, which you can use at the bar, restaurant, or café, plus it includes access to Crunch Gym—such a great value. Every staff member I interacted with was exceptional, quickly assisting whenever I needed anything.

The location is unbeatable—just a 4-minute walk to Herald Square, making it incredibly convenient for exploring the city. I highly recommend the Moxy Times Square for anyone looking for outstanding service, great amenities, and a prime location!

Very good location, on the 2nd floor it has a very well designed common area for breakfast, you can work and at night it works as a bar. We stayed on the 5th floor, in winter, the noise in the early morning is intense, not suitable for people with light sleep, constant noise and from time to time it is enhanced with something extra that turns on and off after a while. The bathroom door has translucent glass and they put the toilet in front of it, a shout out to the designer, they should return the fees. The cleaning of the rooms is random or follows a Fibonacci-type series; for someone who is not a mathematician, it is almost impossible to predict when they will clean and put out fresh towels. If it is at a good price and you are a heavy sleeper, it is an option.

Positive aspects:
- **Location**: The central location right on Times Square is unbeatable. Everything is within walking distance, which means you can save considerably in taxi fees. This is especially convenient for travelers who want to explore the many attractions in the area without much effort.
- **Reachability**: The hotel is easily accessible by both public transport and taxi from JFK Airport. The train ride takes about an hour and a half and costs about $20. Alternatively, you can take a taxi for a fixed price of $90, which is especially convenient if you have a lot of luggage.
- **Ambience**: The Moxxi Hotel is a very hip and modern hotel, especially popular with young travelers. The rooftop bar offers great views and is a popular meeting place.
- **Friendly staff**: The staff are very friendly and helpful, which makes the stay more enjoyable.
- **Cleanliness**: The cleanliness of the hotel is fine and meets the expectations of a hotel of this category.

### Negative aspects:
- **Equipment**: There is a lack of voltage converters for European guests, which makes it difficult to charge appliances or use electrical appliances such as hair dryers. Only one adapter for the sockets is available, but no possibility to change the voltage.
- **Room size**: The rooms are very small and offer little space. Although everything necessary is available, you quickly feel cramped. Particularly unpleasant are the low-hanging pictures on the walls where you can bump into each other at night.
- **Volume**: Due to the popular rooftop bar and the central location, it is very noisy, especially on weekends. The hotel is noisy, and the sounds of parties and other guests can be heard clearly. Sleeping is often only possible with earplugs.
- **Missing hair dryers**: There are no hairdryers in the rooms, which can be problematic for guests who need a hairdryer.

Conclusion:
The Moxxi Hotel in Times Square is ideal for travelers who appreciate its central location and lively ambience. It offers many amenities that make your stay enjoyable, but you should be aware of the limitations mentioned, especially if you are sensitive to noise or need specific electrical equipment.

Excellent location, close to everything. Although they do not serve breakfast, you can spend 30 dollars a day for the taxes you pay, which is enough for at least 2 cakes and 2 juices, since the traditional coffees are free. The bad thing is the smallness of the rooms, and that the bathroom did not have an extractor fan with a motor. It is suggested that you put environmental deodorant in the bathrooms, and that you clean them every day.

Moxy, wow, wow, wow. From check in we felt special. Our room wasn't ready but that wasn't a problem Jeffery checked us in, he assured us he would email us when our room was ready. Which he did and it was earlier than the standard check in time. In reception there is a cooler full of water or Cola. We stored our luggage and went on our first walk in NYC. I arranged for a banner and a bottle of prosecco to be in our room as it was our wedding anniversary. On entering the room we found out we had been upgraded from the double to queen room, and had loads of little touches added. The room was clean and funky with daily house keepingand the bed was super comfy. We were given a $30 day credit to off set the resort fee, which we could use either in the ground floor Café D'Avignon or Legasea bar & grill on the 2nd floor. The stash is a great idea on every floor behind the lift there is a little cupboard which contains water spare towels, pillows and the little thing you may have forgotten like toothbrushes.
The Moxy is a great place to explore NYC close to Penn Station so can get to uptown and downtown on the 1 line. 10 minute walk to Empire state building and 5 minutes to Time Sqe and a 2 block way to the world famous Macy's department store. During our 5 days we walked an average of 10 miles a day and during our stay we were lucky to see the Macy's Thanksgiving day parade which was amazing, it was just a shame it rained.
We will be back to stay again.

We booked with great enthusiasm because we knew the one in Boston but it was very disappointing:
1. The room offered for 4 people and 2 double beds does not have the minimum living space. Should not be marketed
2. When we entered the room, there were used socks in drawers, 2 sets of towels and 2 complimentary bottles of water were missing
3. While it is true that one of the reasons for choosing the hotel was the modern and leisure atmosphere of its location and terrace, it is very difficult to rest until 4am because of the noise. Lack of soundproofing.
4. When we checked out, they told us that everything was OK, and now we have some charges that we don't know what they correspond to.

It certainly hasn't been what we expected.
They sell a modern, young, current style of accommodation but I think they have forgotten the basics such as the minimum space in a room for 4 guests, cleanliness, rest and clarity and transparency in charges...and this is not compensated by the friendliness of the employees, the music and the modern atmosphere of a hotel with a higher cost than those in its area and category.

Greetings,

First of all, Lettie at the front desk is everything people have said and more. The loveliest, most genuinely sweet and friendly person - she started out our stay on such a happy note. Lettie was so kind and charming to my little son that he and I both walked away saying how wonderful she was. Actually, every single employee we encountered was outstandingly friendly and courteous. The room itself was small (which is standard for Manhattan) but so efficiently laid out that we didn't feel at all cramped. Decor was cool and fun and modern. We loved the vibe of the whole hotel. And the "Stash"! Aka the closet at the end of the hall where one could conveniently find complimentary toothbrushes, razors, shower caps, deodorant, water, an iron, extra towels and blankets, and probably more that I'm forgetting. So thoughtful and generous! I detest hotels that make me feel like I'm being nickeled and dimed (unfortunately also standard for Manhattan), and the Moxy was the shining example of the opposite. I felt truly like a warmly welcomed guest and we were sad to leave. Will be back for sure!

Hello, we had a really good stay at Moxy NYC Times Square the first 2 nights of our stay - we chose it because we had a group of 3 girls and the quad room allowed us to share one room, which was a really nice option to have! We really liked our first room, Room 1440. It had a nice walk in area by the door to hang up things - very useful (I think not all quad rooms had this)

The third night of our stay, we unfortunately ran into an insurmountable problem with our door lock and the hotel was not able to get us into our room for hours in the middle of the night - extra stressful for one of my friends because she needed to pack, get ready, and leave for a 5 am flight back. The staff eventually broke in the door window, allowed us to pack up our things, and moved us into a replacement room

Unfortunately, the replacement room had HVAC issues so we could not adjust the AC in the room that night - very stuffy, making it hard to sleep . In the morning, I asked the reception staff if we could change rooms, but unfortunately the hotel was sold out, but they could send maintenance staff to repair - and it was improved after the visit but still malfunctioning some and there was liquid leaking by the AC vent near the bed closest to the window (my bed) - I just threw a towel down there after wondering why my socks kept getting wet

Other things we did enjoy about the hotel though are the Polaroid rentals included in the destination fee (that is a really fun perk for us) and the sitting area in Bar Moxy was very nice, super comfortable. The mocktails and cocktails were very tasty as well

The daily $30 F&B credit for Cafe D'Avignon and Bar Moxy was okay, but kind of inconvenient to try to use every day, especially on longer stays - would rather not have it and have a lower destination fee

The gym bathroom was also drastically in bad shape on my only visit down there - I traumatically stepped in flooding poopy water when I went in to try to use the bathroom there while our door lock issue was getting worked on

I plan to still stay at Marriotts many more times on my future travels, but probably not this particular location
