Detailed Reviews
Staff really elevate a stay from good to great, and this went from great to fantastic! Every single staff member we met was out of their way friendly, polite and accommodating. When we asked if they could call us a cab to the airport, they offered instead to hook us up with their car service (which, at $75 all inclusive of tax, tolls and tip, was a better deal than the taxi). When we needed an emergency toilet plunge at 05:30 (and no, I really don’t know how it happened!) they were up in 5 minutes and were so quiet that my husband barely knew he was there. The location is about 1/3-1/2 mile from the nearest subway station, but plenty of good eats well within walking distance. We will definitely stay here again when we come back to NYC!

Excellent location to subway stations (Wall st, Fulton st, South Ferry), Staten Island Ferry, South Seaport market and restaurants, Sarah Jessica Parker shoe store, Brooklyn Bridge. Love the modern look and feel of hotel including the room. Love the customer service provided by the front desk agents, be it the AM shift or PM shift. Love the business center and fitness room. Love the toiletries product's quality available for use in the bathroom. Love the complimentary water bottles in room fridge. Love the amenities in the room: hair dryer, iron, ironing board, coffee maker, coffee supplies, fridge, Love the personalization on the tv when one opens the tv and tv welcomes you personally with your name on it. Love the comfortable bed and pillows. Love the coldness of the AC. Just didn't appreciate that there's no microwave in room (travelling with kids and having to heat up food for breakfast or snacks or dinner in the microwave located on the 2nd floor is very inconvenient); very limited housekeeping service available (one has to give 24 hours notice to front desk agent if one wants their room cleaned). I saw a housekeeper as I was leaving our room to start our day, asked her if I can give her our trash bin so she can empty them, and I was told I need to tell front desk and book housekeeping service for our room. Seriously? I need 24 hour notice for just a trash service? No fresh towel replacements, no toiletries replacement, no water cups replacement when housekeeping service was done in our room, to think we were booked for a couple of night's stay. We didn't even request housekeeping service not till the 3rd day of our stay. No hand sanitizer/s or disinfectant wipes available in common areas like the business center, microwave area or the guest lounge on the 2nd floor. No hand sanitizer available by the elevator. Adherence to cleanliness secondary to Covid isn't there.

Dear Gonvel1710, Thank you for choosing our hotel, and for taking the time to write a review. We are so glad to hear that you enjoyed your accommodations, as well as our service. Our hotel aims to provide a great experience, and your feedback, including recommendations for improvement, helps us to succeed in this area. We've had to adjust how we service occupied rooms as we move through the pandemic; I regret that we appeared unaccommodating. We look forward to welcoming you back to our hotel in the future. The main reason for staying there was because I had expiring Marriott credit card free nights. Marriott has made these free nights so difficult to use with peaking pricing. So effectively this along with two other hotels in FiDi were the only options.
Overall I was very happy with the hotel. I checked in using the app. The room was ready when I arrived. I asked for a river view room and reviewed one on a high floor. The room was a bit on the small side but honestly I was only there for sleep. It was clean and functional. I appreciated the USB plugs by the night stand. Wifi worked well. The bathroom was also functional with very good water pressure.
There was no breakfast and honestly the market place options were a bit lacking. As a Platinum member I got $10 per person each day to spend there. Since there wasn’t anything interesting, I loaded up on water. Of note, the credit starts on the day of arrival not the next day which is counterintuitive since it was usually meant to cover breakfast.
Everyone I interacted with was friendly. The location was a bit far from the subway, about 9 min walk. But it was convenient for water ferry to Brooklyn and bike rentals. There were really nice bike trails along the water to get around manhattan.

We stayed at the AC Hotel for 8 nights. I. We were given a room on the 27th floor with a view of the river which was great. Without us asking for it. The personnel were friendly, helpful and overall great. We are a family of 4 and we chose a room with 2 queen size beds. The room had enough room to put our suitcases and everything else we had. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean. Complimentary coffee and water was given to us on a daily basis and towels were changed whenever we wanted.Bathroom clean and the shower was great. The hotel is a 2-3 minute walk from Wall Street and the subway . Great and safe location.Away from the crowds of midtown. The breakfast is not included but there is a great place around the corner to eat--Flavors.When checking out , they arranged a taxi service to come pick us up. In general, this is an excellent hotel.

I have no idea how this place would ever get 4.4 stars. I get to the hotel tonight and there are two people out front smoking so much weed that I got a contact high coming through the door. The front door was particularly of note because it had two pieces of paper taped to them advising guest to use their key card to enter. You can do better. Only one person at the front desk when I arrived, and I was third in line. Of course, the moment I was the only person at the desk, two other employees appear out of thin air. The lobby was filthy. One of those three should have been running a vacuum and dusting, or even restocking the store would have been nice. There was no note on my corporate booking site that housekeeping service was only every other day, or I would have stayed at my normal Marriott for the same money, was just curious to try something different. The glass in the elevator is broken, a nice touch getting to your room. This is a further mistake since the room is pretty run down, got a third floor as a Titanium member (almost an Ambassador), and worst of all the AC isn’t working. Great way to be welcomed after a day of work travel. If you are a business traveler, avoid at all costs. I just got here 30 minutes ago, so I’m pretty nervous about what the rest of the week has in store for me.

I apologize that your experience was negatively affected by some things that we could have done better and some things that were completely out of our control. Even though we thoroughly prepare to deliver a great stay to every guest, sometimes it just doesn't go the way we planned. Thank you for praising the staff and their efforts overall. I stayed for two nights at AC Hotel Downtown during Thanksgiving week.
This is a belated review but I meant to write it to thank the staff, especially Bernice.
Initially, when I walked into the room I was a bit disappointed with the room. Not that it was small or anything, I could tell the room wasn't cleaned recently. The dust on bed and furniture seemed to scream me they need to be cleaned.
But I was tired from the long-distance flight so just didn't care.
The next day by the time I came back to my room, it was all nicely cleaned and Bernice the cleaning lady did some magic on broken curtain rails and whatnot.
The front desk staffs were all courteous and accommodating.
The location was great too especially if you need to be in the downtown area for business.
Happy new year everyone!

Before I get into the actual hotel stay, I'd like to give a major kudos to Robert, our contact for this hotel, who was able to give my wife and I a hotel block for our wedding. He sends all pertinent paperwork immediately and we were able to give our guest a link for them to book immediately.
The hotel itself is beautiful, so much so that we used it for our bridal party photos and first looks. The rooms themselves were clean, the beds were very comfortable, and the rooms were overall very spacious. Also can't forget the beautiful views. Considering we are in the midst of a pandemic, my wife and I and our guest felt safe staying here. There was ample sanitizer scattered around the hotel. Mask must be worn when traveling around the hotels and the elevators were spacious to allow a few guests at a time to ride them.
All in all, a great stay if you're looking for somewhere affordable to stay that doesn't skimp on luxury or safety.

I would have given AC Downtown NY on Maiden Lane 10 stars if I could have. The staff, location, atmosphere and rooms were excellent! I brought my 11 YO daughter to NYC to see Mean Girls on Broadway. We’ve stayed in midtown before and wanted a change. We took the ferry and the hotel was just a block down, right on the water. Great location and glorious views. There is something for all travelers at this hotel. Pier 17, World Trade, shopping and restaurants in every price range. Then when you return to your home away from home, relax in a beautiful, clean and modern room! We were provided complimentary water and coffee everyday. The lounge on the 2nd floor has the most amazing breakfast, a bar and seating area to relax or get work done. I am officially a downtown convert. The Occulus is a mere few blocks, you can shop then hop on the subway! I was so surprised how easy it was for my daughter and I to get around the entire city and return to AC downtown where it is so much less crowded and less expensive. I highly recommend this hotel whether your final destination is downtown or uptown! You will not be disappointed.

Beautiful hotel. Great downtown location, but my room smelled like marijuana all night. I mentioned it to the staff, who kindly moved me to another room. This is not a nonsmoking hotel. The $200.00 deposit is not keeping people from smoking in the rooms especially in the bathroom. No one bothers to mention to guests signing in that this is a nonsmoking hotel and we'll charge you $200. If you stay in a low rent hotel in NY, be prepared for marijuana and cigarette smoke.

Dear mypassport1, I'm so sorry for your experience at our hotel; please forgive us. We are a non-smoking hotel, so I regret that you detected an odor. I'm glad that our team was responsive. We do our very best to obtain guest compliance. There is a significant room recovery fee for guests who do not comply to cover the extensive cost of restoring guest rooms to a smoke-free condition. All associates have been trained to respond to potential violations. Once again, on behalf of our entire team - I'm sorry we let you down this visit. We hope to have the opportunity to provide a flawless stay in the future. Sincerely, Craig Kepple General Manager
