For the last several years I've come to this particular Days Inn off of Broadway and have had quality visits. However, sadly, I can no longer say that

We decided to book in advance two short stays at the Days Inn on Broadway.
First, for those interested, I will state the positives of this hotel.

The beds have always been clean and comfortable, and I've been able to take a nice hot shower with no issues. The staff understands that the hotel is very old and has issues that it can only manage. I found the majority of the staff to be helpful and courteous. The location is excellent as there are many fine restaurants in the general area, the subway station is right around the corner, and you are only a 10-minute walk from Central Park on a good day.

However, my last stay proved by far my most difficult. First, despite written and verbal contact with the hotel about a late arrival, they still gave away the room I had reserved. The woman, Luna, at the front desk did ensure we had another room for the night which was appreciated. However, the room had next to no wifi service whatsoever. We had to go into the hallway to get any kind of service. When we finally got the room I reserved the carpet was incredibly musty and full of mold. There was also no window that could be opened, and no ability to control the heat in the room. I understand that the Days Inn of Broadway is a budget hotel that doesn't offer the frills of something more exquisite, but this room pushed the boundaries of acceptability.

The second stay (about 2 weeks later) the hotel decided to suddenly charge a safety deposit per night. This was not the case on our first visit or any previous visit in the last three years. Arriving at our room, we found it in decent condition, but that was until we found a condom wrapper and used container of lubricant on the bottom of one of the nightstands. I feel the housekeeping should really have cleaned more thoroughly to prevent that kind of sight. Also, we again had no ability to control the heat and no window to open to let air into the room. The wifi service in this room was better, but still very slow.

In all, the Days Inn Broadway will still provide the bare minimum for what you need, but it really needs some renovation and more attentive cleaning staff. Again, I found the staff to be helpful and kind, but my stay on both occasions proved very much lackluster Also, I feel they should be more upfront about sudden new policy changes.

The hotel is easily accessible from the subway station and location is good. However it needs renovation desperately. AC is old and beds are not comfortable. Our room had an iron rod protruding out of the bed stand which hurt one of us badly. They’ve a daily mandatory charge of around $15 which is not clearly explained to the customers. Do ensure that you request for housekeeping each day as the daily charge includes housekeeping, water bottles etc. We were informed that housekeeping is chargeable when we asked at the desk and hence we decided to opt for alternate days which was a mistake on our part. Also we were told that water bottles snack bars are complementary but actually the daily charge included all this. Lifts were smelly. Will not recommend this hotel.

Stayed here for 5 nights for daughter’s graduation. We’d stayed here when it was a Days Inn and was happy with stay. Toilet ran, the huge piece of sheet metal in the shower fell (could have caused serious injury), the room smelled like a wet ashtray. Elevators were filthy, bellman was constantly on an earpiece talking on his phone and when we called the front desk about staying an extra night (out of complete necessity), were told they were booked but easily made an online reservation that we ended up canceling. There was one employee at the front desk early on in the trip who was very helpful in getting the shower fixed and accommodating our request for an ironing board. Unfortunately, he really stood out because the rest of the staff was marginal at best. Housekeeping just walked in on us early on our check out morning (although they did a very nice job the one day we requested service). I think the wet ashtray smell was probably the worst part, am washing everything I packed because even the clean clothes smell. I’m not a complainer and usually ignore poor service and usually give generous praise, but this was just awful. It did force us to spend more time out, even when it was raining, because we hated being in the room. Again, the front desk employee working Tuesday/Wednesday morning was wonderful (he was being berated by other guests when I made requests for ironing board and maintenance). It’s unfortunate that he stood out so much for being pleasant and following through.

My husband and I stayed here for 3 weeks, we live in the area and needed a place to stay while our apartment was being renovated. The only positive thing I have to say about this hotel is that the staff are friendly and try to be as accommodating as possible.

The wifi is not reliable if you need to work, we had no heat for two days which happened to be 50 degrees on both days and raining. Needless to say we were in our room cold for 2 nights!

If due to budget you must stay at this location please try to avoid a room on the 7th floor! The carpet is filthy in the hall and in the room.

Our room, 727 also had filthy carpet, it smelled like someone recently passed away. The sheets were clean the bathroom was clean-ish. There is no mini fridge in the room and only one chair at the desk.

We purchased our own toilet paper, paper towels, I bought sheets to put on top of their sheets.

We received no room cleaning while we were there...for 3 weeks. Maybe you need to ask. The location is okay, close to the train and food.

There were no roaches in my room but I got a bite on my arm which turned red (never happened before).

Long story short, there is no amount of money that will make me stay at this hotel ever again.

Night Hotel Broadway or whatever name you are going by - please shut down the 7th floor, redo the carpet or better yet don't have carpet as it seems you have a problem with people spitting gum on the floor. Update the wall paper, and the old furniture in the rooms.

Just do better for Christ Sakes, this is NYC and this hotel looks like it should be in the Back Woods!

This is an older hotel. It has a certain charm because of the vintage decor in the lobby. There simply is not much in the way of lodging on Manhattan's Upper West Side, and this is a very good choice at reasonable prices. The location on Broadway is extremely convenient with a subway station just steps away, and the Symphony Space theater virtually off the street. There is no restaurant in the hotel but there are numerous restaurants close by.

The rooms are spacious and well equipped with large screen television, microwave, refrigerator, and coffee maker. The furnishings are a bit shabby, but the beds are quite comfortable. Hot water takes a while to arrive on the upper floors, but is sufficient. The hotel does impose one of those dreaded daily "resort fees" for no particular reason other than that they seem to be able to do it. This is simply an annoyance in an otherwise satisfactory lodging situation.

The staff at the hotel is friendly and helpful. Check-in was easy, and the staff was very accommodating.

I booked this hotel at short notice to near my brother who I was visiting.

I arrived after midnight. First night was in a room which bore no resemblance to the pictures on the website. It was dark, off a grubby corridor, and the phone, television and coffee machine were all broken. My shower in the morning was cold. When I mentioned all of this in the morning I was promised a new room, which I moved to much later in the day. This one was much better and looked more like the pictures. The TV and coffee machine were fine but, when I wanted a nice hot shower after an early run in Central Park (very close) the shower didn’t work (switch between tap and shower was broken) and there was only very low power, luke warm water. I mentioned these the next morning but nothing was done about it.

The staff were friendly and efficient in dealing with me, and apologetic, but at the end of the visit I was still extremely unhappy about the hotel as a whole.

Would definitely avoid this hotel.

This was an inexpensive hotel that I found on the upper West side when I was coming to New York City for a business trip. If you set your expectations appropriately for the price then you will be happy with this place. The room was small as was the bathroom but on the plus side the bed was comfortable and the Wi-Fi was able to handle a lot of load. The shower was hat. The staff were very friendly. Make sure that you are expecting the now ubiquitous $15 per day facility fee. This gets you 2 water bottles in your room and the wifi. There were supposed to be snacks but I never found any. This loses one star because of some small inconveniences. For instance there was no outlet to plug a phone into near the bed or night stands. The phone had to charge all the way across the room and there was nothing to set it on. Also the light switch in the bathroom also turned on the fan so if your partner is a light sleeper be careful of that period overall the hotel was clean and convenient for where I needed to be.

On the plus side, the beds were comfortable and the room was clean. Downside: it took 10 minutes of groaning water pipes to get hot water. The temperature nozzle for the tub was very loose, so your choices were scalding hot or lukewarm. The towels are threadbare. Forget taking a bath, because the tub drain would not close. Forget drying your hair because the blow dryer did not work. Forget eating leftovers because there was not a refrigerator nor a microwave. And plan on living our of your suitcase because there was no dresser in which to put your clothes. The WORST thing, however, was when we asked the lady behind the desk to hail us a cab to JFK. We had researched it and cabs are not allowed to charge more than $52 to take you from anywhere in Manhattan to JFK. She used her cell phone to call someone who was not a cabbie. No fare meter in his car and nothing to indicate he was a legitimate cab driver. He insisted on cash and charged us $90. When I asked about the $52 maximum fare, he said there was a toll road. Total scam. I blame the hotel employee. She knew we were tourists and took advantage of us. We were at their mercy because we didn’t want to miss our flight because we had to GOOGLE how to hail a cab. We entrusted the lady behind the desk to do the right thing. Horrible end to a lovely trip.

I could never get something as simple as a cup of hot water (to soothe my daughter’s pink eye) from these people. They didn’t caer at all. They insisten there was a coffee machine in the room, which was incorrect, and never sent one despite repeated requests.

They do have one. I took it from Laguardia to the hotel. However, you share the shuttle with passengers who may be going to other hotels, so it may not be a straight trip from the airport to hotel. I recommend taking a taxi. It will cost about the same amount and you have the convenience of going straight to the hotel/airport.
